Takua was a Matoran of Light, disguised as a Matoran of Fire. He served as the Mata Nui Chronicler until his transformation into the fabled Seventh Toa.

2. 8596: Takanuva
"What's white and gold and can't keep a secret to save his life?"

After Jallar's death, Takua found the Seventh Toa... in himself. He renamed himself "Takanuva."

3. 8699: Takanuva
"But I'm not my "kind", not anymore — your shadow leeches saw to that. I'm half Toa of Light, half Toa of Shadow. This was what you wanted, wasn't it? Toa consumed by darkness, Toa not hampered by things like mercy or morality. Well, now you can choke on it."
— Takanuva to Chirox, The Final Battle
After a Shadow Leach attack, Takanuva was transformed into a half-light, half-shadow "Toa of Twilight".
He was later cured, and returned to his original form.

4. 8944: Tanma
"We're on our own here -- like we've always been -- and we'll stand or fall on our own."

Tanma was a Matoran of Light who lived in Karda Nui. After Kirop's transformation into a Shadow Matoran, Tanma became leader of the remaining Av-Matoran.

5. 8945: Solek

Solek was a Matoran of Light, and Takua's former best friend. He idolized Toa, particularly Kopaka.

6. 8946: Photok

Photok was a courageous Av-Matoran, prone to taking risks. He was good friends with Radiak, even willing to trust him after he had been infected by a Shadow Leach.

7. 8947: Radiak

Radiak was a Matoran of Light, renowned for his courage and warrior-like spirit. He was transformed into a Shadow Matoran, but was later cured by the efforts of Takanuva.

8. 8948: Gavla
"Who asked you to save me? Don't you understand? The Makuta accepted me — they had use for me — which is more than my fellow Matoran ever did! I finally found a place where I belonged, and you took it away from me."

Gavla was an Av-Matoran. She was not inherently evil, but lacked the friendship of her fellow Av-Matoran, and because of this, she was embittered toward them. She was infected by the Shadow Leaches, but was later cured (against her own will) by Takanuva.

9. 8949: Kirop
"Both wise and a warrior, he had kept everyone's morale up in the first years after the Fall. If not for him, civilization might have ceased to exist here in this massive cavern."

Kirop was the wise leader of the Av-Matoran. He was transformed into a Shadow Matoran during the Siege of Karda Nui, but was later cured by Takanuva.

During the Battle of Bara Magna, Takanuva changed his armor color from white-and-gold to grey-and-white, to be less noticeable during combat.
