BrickList: BIONICLE Canisters 4 - Simple build

BIONICLE Canisters 4 - Simple build

To Celebrate the 10th year of Bionicle products (and its end), I'll be doing my own classification of the Bionicle sets instead of the official sources, making it easier to see their history through the years.

Bionicle ended with very different moves. What was meant to be Small sets were already surpassing the prices of what in 2001 would be considered Canisters. Now, the Bionicle Stars already have Canisters and are more expensive than the Toa Mata. This move will continue with the next line of Action Figures based in Ball joint/socket building as well.

Characteristics of all those sets are:
- They inherited the very easy Av-Matoran building
- Their body piece includes 5 glued ball-joints
- Their limbs includes both socket and ball-joints at its extremities
- They have the head completely translucent
- They have the worst price per piece count of all Bionicle history to date
- They still following the superficial differences of mask/weapons to give personality to the set

1. 8974: Tarduk

The best of the Agori, Tarduk has the best relation of price per piece among the 2008 Av-Matoran, 2009 Agori and 2010 Stars. Even so, its not neccessarily a good point, as his price is the same of a 2001 Toa Mata.

Among the Simple build sets that started in 2008, Tarduk can be regarded as its best, mainly because of his piece quantity, color scheme, overall design and very well designed helmet, that fits his design. Another good point is that he includes four Nui Rama Claws.

2. 8977: Zesk

A different Agori, Zesk has a vahki lower leg section on its back to do an effect and to attach his tail. He has a good variety of pieces, while those still few to his price.

He was released in 2009, and like his partner Vorox, they have Tan limb pieces (what became a rarity after 2003 until now). His best part is the mask, following the idea that what matters is the personality and looking of the set, not necessarily his building.
The tail, however, was never used in any av-matoran before.

3. 7116: Tahu

A random Bionicle Stars, following the humanoid padron of Av-Matoran figures, including even an Av-Matoran head. All in all, Tahu is an Av-Matoran about building, with few additions like armor.

The main difference here are the masks, designed after his original Kanohi Hau. But the problem is that the mask was designed for Av-Matoran proportions, and it might not do well even in Toa Metru's heads.
It includes two masks, one red and other golden. Despite it look likes impulsive to buy for the masks, it is poor in building structure, limited in playability and un-proportional, having giant hands and head.

4. 7138: Rahkshi

A different Stars, Rahkshi has one of the most strange pieces ever.
Its head "mask" is linked to a spine, which has three spikes and 2 technic holes (everything as a sole piece) to attach on its back.

While this Heat Vision Rahkshi has one piece to do its spine/head, the Rahkshi line sets (see the part 1) had like 9, while they were only one dollar more expensive.
Like Skrall (7136), it has a limb in the front of its body to form sort of a neck. This is a good use of that part, as for the limit of the pieces, but it is bad the fact that there is an empty socket in the lower part.
Rahkshi is the Bionicle Stars set which has the most Technic parts on its building alongside with Skrall (7136).
