1. 6268: Renegade Runner
A beautiful small ship that Lego released many years ago. Possibly the best of the small Lego pirate ships. Rating: 3.5 bricks.

2. 6243: Brickbeard's Bounty
Photos don't do this ship justice. It's absolutely beautiful once built. However, the sails are held in place in a fairly flimsy way and Lego shortchanged me on one piece I needed to complete the ship and gave me extra of a piece I don't need. This seems to be a big problem with the 2009 Pirates Collection. Rating: 4 bricks.

3. 6250: Cross Bone Clipper
Not the best looking small pirate ship but the flag, rudder, cannon and female pirate are nice touches that just might make this set worthwhile. Lego needs to make more small and medium sized sailing ships for those who don't want to or can't afford shelling out the big bucks for the big ships. Rating: 3 bricks.

4. 6256: Islander Catamaran
Technically not a ship, but it is the largest Islander seafaring vessel. I wish Lego would come out with new Islanders sets but I don't think that will happen with Lego Pirates of the Caribbean coming out in 2011. Rating: 4 bricks.

5. 6271: Imperial Flagship
A classic imperial ship. An average effort by Lego. Rating: 3 bricks.

6. 6274: Caribbean Clipper
The predecessor to the Imperial Flagship. The blue sails make this French ship look a bit better than the British one. Rating: 3.5 bricks.

The best looking medium sized ship Lego has released. The Spanish travel in style in this set. Rating: 4.5 bricks.

Tied for the second best pirate ship ever released by Lego in my book. the attention to detail is remarkable as it even comes with an anchor. Rating: 4.5 bricks.

9. 6286: Skull's Eye Schooner
It's loaded with canons, has an anchor and comes with an escape row boat. Tied for the second best pirate ship ever released by Lego. Rating: 4.5 bricks.
