BrickList: LEGO Racers 2 Sets
LEGO Racers 2 Sets
LEGO Racers 2, in addition to providing fans of the original LEGO Racers with a new racing game, was designed to promote LEGO sets that were available at the time. As such, many sets from Town, Adventurers, Life on Mars, Arctic, and Racers make appearances in LEGO Racers 2.
Created by SJPlego. Last updated on 22 Jan 2011.
1. 5704: LEGO Racers
LEGO Racers was the predecessor of LEGO Racers 2.
Rocket Racer, the host of Circuit 7, returns as the final boss racer in LEGO Racers 2, along with his signature racecar. In the introduction cutscene, both Rocket Racer and his racecar appear as they did in LEGO Racers, but shortly afterward both his wardrobe and his racecar's color scheme receive an update which is carried on through the rest of the game. Players must beat Rocket Racer in "The Grand Finale" in order to win the title of Galactic Racing Champion.
It is worth noting that the facial expressions of many returning characters from the first game, including Johnny Thunder and Slyboots, are reused textures from the first game. Interestingly, Rocket Racer seems to be an exception to this, as all his facial expressions are unique to LEGO Racers 2.
Additionally, in the Gameboy Advance version of LEGO Racers 2, Scooter makes an appearance as a selectable opponent racer. Scooter originated from the first LEGO Racers game as one of the default playable characters.

2. 5774: LEGO Island 2
LEGO Island 2: The Brickster's Revenge is the sequel to LEGO's highly-successful first videogame.
LEGO Island 2 makes a small cameo appearance in the introductory cutscene to LEGO Racers 2. When Rocket Racer holds up the newspaper that shows an image of him in second place, on the opposite side of the newspaper is a still from LEGO Island 2's introduction cutscene. Specifically, the screenshot shows the Brickster staring at the camera from behind the bars of Command Post Central prison.

Soccer Mania, also known as Football Mania, is a soccer-based LEGO videogame.
Soccer Mania makes a small cameo appearance in the introductory cutscene to LEGO Racers 2. When Rocket Racer holds up the newspaper that shows an image of him in second place, on the opposite side of the newspaper is an image of Freddy Fit, the referee of Soccer Mania. This may have been intended as a sneak preview, since Soccer Mania would not be released until a year after LEGO Racers 2.

Shredd is a Rama known for his super traction.
While Shredd does not appear in-game, he appears in LEGO Racers 2's intro movie. After seeing Rocket Racer arrive on Xalax, he decides to race against Rocket Racer. Shredd is in the lead for most of the race, but gets passed by Rocket Racer. Shredd briefly retakes the lead at a lava ramp, but Rocket Racer uses his skills to get ahead in the tunnel. Although he loses to Rocket Racer, Shredd takes it well and high-fives Rocket Racer.

Orange Ramas that look like Scratch can be seen in the crowd of Ramas in Xalax.
It is also worth noting that Scratch appeared in an early CGI video for LEGO Racers 2, which was possibly a beta introductory movie. At one point in the video, Scratch crashes his racecar and is sent flying, likely a nod to the Crash 'Em Racers line from which the Ramas originated.

It is also worth noting that an early CGI video for LEGO Racers 2, possibly a beta introductory movie, gave Loopin a more prominent role. In this video, Loopin is driving in the lead, but Rocket Racer knocks aside his racecar and causes Loopin to crash.

However, en route to Mars, the Solar Explorer is hit by an asteroid and crash-lands onto the Red Planet. The crashed Solar Explorer can be found near the astronauts' base on Mars, where they are presumably repairing the space shuttle. During Mars bonus games, players drop off Biodium at the Solar Explorer.
The mini-rover is one of several default vehicles for Mars. During Mars races and bonus games, it is driven by Cassiopeia. Interestingly, when players use a cheat to play as Cassiopeia, this is not the vehicle the player-controlled Cassiopeia uses.
Doc can be found at the astronauts' base on Mars. There, he drops hints on where to find one of Mars's Golden Bricks. During the Mars bonus games, Doc sends players to bring back Biodium in order to refuel the Solar Explorer. Upon success, he rewards players with a car upgrade.

Segments of the Aero Tube Hanger can be found in the Martian Foyer, a location where players can access any of the Mars races and mini-games. Specifically, the segments are near the gate for "Riegel's Racetrack".
The Aero Tube Hanger itself makes a prominent appearance on Mars. Altair, Canopus, and Vega reside near the Aero Tube Hanger. A Gold Brick can be found near the Martian base.
In addition, segments of the base can be seen near a lava flow, representing a former Martian base that was wrecked by an earthquake. The Excavation Searcher searches this base for anything that can be salvaged, and Antares stands nearby. A Gold Brick can be found near the ruined Martian base.
The Jet Propelled Air Cruiser can occasionally be seen flying over the racetrack. It has no real effect on gameplay and is merely to add detail to the world.
Cassiopeia is one of the racers who competes against players in the Galactic Racing Championship. The Polar Base was the base camp of the arctic-exploring team.
Parts of the Polar Base can be seen at Sandy Bay's helicopter landing pad, designed in the style of the Arctic theme. A building that combines the medical bay and the observatory deck is part of the landing pad, as well as the satellite dishes tower. During the Sandy Bay mini-game, players can drive Captain Geoff to the helicopter pad.
The rescue helicopter makes an appearance in Sandy Bay at a helicopter landing pad. When players have enough Gold Bricks, they can use the helicopter to travel to Arctic World. The helicopter can also be seen flying over Arctic World, but this has no effects other than adding visual detail.
The Polar Base can be found in three parts of Arctic World. However, the buildings seemed to have been slightly rearranged. The building with the satellite dishes can be found in two areas; Cosmo can be seen at one of these buildings, while the Mobile Outpost and Doc can be found at the other. The observatory building is found at a larger arctic base where Crystal and a Gold Brick can be found; this largest Polar Base is where players drop off weather balloons in Arctic World's mini-games. The satellite tower is also seen on the SS LEGO, an arctic ship.
Doc can be found near one of the Polar Bases, standing next to the Mobile Outpost. There, he tells players about all the strange things that can be found in the Arctic. During Arctic World's mini-games, Doc is relocated to the largest Polar Base, where he sends players to bring back weather balloons and will reward successful players with car upgrades.
Crystal Aput resides at the Polar Base with the observatory tower. She also tells players about the strangeness of Arctic World.
