BrickList: 2012 Polybags
2012 Polybags
Sorry, I know I'm a little late on this, but here's the list of 2012 polybags. If you're looking for a reference of where to find these sets look here (http://brickset.com/brickLists/?6054). Remember this is used to tell the contents of what's inside, not where to obtain the set (although I may throw in where I found certain sets). More updates coming soon...
Excludes CMF, Duplo, and MBA.

1. 30017: Police Boat
For a polybag, this set is very impressive. The boat may be small, but the 'Police' sticker is nice considering stickers aren't usually included in polybags (even if they are a pain at times). The minifig itself makes this set worth it as it's one of the new forest policemen with a life jacket. Overall, the set is a very high-quality polybag for all you get out of it.

2. 30018: Police Microlight
I've never really liked City helicopters or planes in polybags. You can't make a roof or something that would commonly be used the keep the guy from falling out of the vehicle. Besides the minifig (which isn't that great anyway) this set doesn't have any value except to collectors or people with low expectations. I'd keep away from this set and focus my eyes on better sets...

3. 30019: Fire Helicopter
...like this one! I take back what I said about helicopters (but not planes). This set proved me wrong, I think this is the best helicopter polybag I've ever seen. It makes good use of the shortage of pieces (especially the wind shield or whatever you choose to call it). The minifig isn't that great, but I guess it'll do. I'll be looking for this set when it comes out.

4. 30150: Racing Car
It seems like I keep going back and forth with good and bad sets. Lego had no reason to design this set. It doesn't fit the City theme and on top of that barely resembles a car. The minifig looks pathetic, so it's basically a lost cause. I'd try to avoid this as much as you can unless you collect City polybags.

5. 30180: Aircraft
Moving onto Creator polybags I think this set fits the Creator theme and makes every piece count. The design looks really good, and it really doesn't seem bulky. I'm not a big fan of Creator so I'm not sure I'll get this but it will definitely be on my mind.

6. 30181: Helicopter
Same with the last set, this set seems very high-quality and makes use of all the pieces. I think this set is slightly better because it looks a bit more realistic, but both are great. The one thing I'd like to point out is that for the back propeller, Lego use a small steering wheel which seems cheap. So it's not flawless, but it comes very close for a polybag.

7. 30182: Santa
This seems like it should be in the Seasonal theme, but I guess it has some sort of twist to make it a Creator set. I think the detail is nice although his eyes look like he just found out Rudolf bought his red nose at a store, but I don't know how else they would've made his eyes. Overall, if you find this set for free or at a good price go ahead and pick it up, but it's nothing to spend a lot of time searching for.

8. 30100: Beach
I wish I didn't have to do this, but it looks like I'll have to view this set from a girl's view (maybe I could get my sister to help me out). This looks like one of the 'friends' (I'll find out here name later) is playing on the beach and has some 'cool' accessories and a sand castle. For girls, I'd suggest getting this set as it seems like a high-quality polybag, but I have no intentions of getting this.

9. 30101: Skateboarder
I don't know why they made a set with a girl skateboarding, because I can't see a girl being into Legos and skateboarding (although there probably are girls out there who are into both). It seems like a very simple set with a girl on a skateboard and some flowers and a fire hydrant. This would be a good way to fill a park with different things.

10. 30102: Desk
These Friends Lego sets seem to have better polybags than most other themes. This set is great for putting funiture into a house. The desk has some very nice pieces on it that make it seem like a quality set for anyone wanting a desk for a 'Friends' house.

11. 30103: Car
I think the designers of the Friends polybags should really help designers of other polybags make theirs better. The Friends polybags are by far the best I've seen (although I still don't want them). This set features one of the 'Friends' and her car which isn't too bad for a polybag (this would be a great set to take 'on the go' since it's small and if it gets lost won't cost a lot to replace).

12. 30105: Mailbox
This seems somewhat Valentines-based considering the red heart, flowers, what looks like treats (like cupcakes or something), and a mailbox to mail 'love letters' (I'm just guessing here). Before I get anymore into one of the worst holidays known to man I'm going to move on.

13. 5000245: Stephanie
After all these great Friends polybags (which I don't want), this seems a little odd. Why would they make a set with just a doll? Apparently this doll is Stephanie so... there's not really anymore I can say and I can finally move on to some non-Friends theme.

14. 30170: Ganrash
After all the Friends polybags, I'm glad to move on. This seems like a good Heroica set; I'm guessing this is to be used to somewhat expand the Heroica kingdom, but I'm not sure. There's a flag, two werewolves, and two daggers, so it'd be worth it to buy this and add it to you 'playing field'.

15. 40036: Cobra
So we start off the 2012 MMMB sets with a cobra. It doesn't really seem that realistic and when you look at it from a distance it somewhat resembles a frog's head. I wouldn't stress over missing this unless you collect MMMB sets. The tan pieces could be useful, so this has some value, but really isn't worth the trip to a Lego store unless you plan to buy Legos or live very close to a Lego store.

16. 30085: Jumping Snakes
I think Lego ruined Ninjago this year putting all these ships and vehicles in the theme and not keeping the same villians. I like the new outfits the ninjas have, but the rest is pretty dumb. This set isn't as bad though, as it has snakes which I can see fighting ninjas (and getting cut in half in two seconds). The golden sword makes this set more appealing and the thing it's placed on isn't that bad. I would pick this up if I found it in a store for a good price.

17. 30086: Hidden Sword
Now this seems like a great Ninjago set. It's got the new ninja outfit (which I'm a big fan of), and a cool table-like thing with three daggers (two silver, one golden). This is the best Ninjago polybag out of all four by far. I will be searching for this no doubt.

18. 30087: Car
This set is completely junk as far as I care. The Ninja is okay, but the car is a dumb idea. Who's ever heard of a ninja and his car? I won't be looking for this and don't suggest getting it. Worst of all, it doesn't look like there are any weapons.

19. 5000030: Kendo Jay Booster Pack
This is a nice little polybag containing 31 pieces. It comes with Jay with weapons and armor, plus an upgrade for his spinner. I belive you could get this if you spend $75 or more at shop.LEGO.com or in a Lego Store. If you're not a big fan of Ninjago spinners and don't collect Ninjago polybags, I wouldn't stress getting this unless you're already planning on spending $75.

20. 40029: Valentine's Day Box
Another Valentine's Day-based set. This one isn't as bad, but still isn't on my wish list. This set includes 51 pieces to build a gift box and two hearts (that don't look very realistic). I think you can get this in Lego stores.

21. 30056: Star Destroyer
This looks like a nice polybag. It seems very realistic and has a great color scheme. The only problem is that it lacks turrets, but that can easily be changed. I'll have my eye out for this set.

22. 30057: Anakin's Pod Racer
I'm surprised Lego didn't release this set last year to help promote the '7962: Anakin Skywalker and Sebulba's Podracers' set. It doesn't change the fact that this is very accurate in color scheme and design. This was available in TRU for free when you spent $20 on Lego which is the best way to obtain this since it's $4.99 by itself. The Podracer itself is a nice mini model, with the only problem being the two red 1x2's under each of the engines (they should've been some shade of grey). I would recommend buying this set if you like Podracers or mini sets and are willing to give TRU $5 of your money for 38 pieces.

23. 30058: STAP
I love when polybags include minifigs in them, even if that minifig is a Battle Droid. This seems a little smaller than normal STAPs which is a little upsetting, but I won't complain since it's a polybag. The color scheme and design are both very accurate (we haven't had a brown STAP since 2007). This set shouldn't be too hard to find.

24. 30059: MTT
Finally we get our first Clone Wars MTT, sadly it's a mini set, but it will be okay as long as they come out with a new one in the next few years. It seems like a good size for a polybag which makes it worth every penny. Hopefully this won't be too hard to find.

25. 30160: Batman Jetski
I can't wait to get this set, as I'm not sure I'll be buying any of the new Batman sets, but this will be an easy way to get the Dark Knight. The boat isn't too shabby and Batman looks great. The flick-fire misslies are nice touches. Hopefully this will be a store-exclusive and come out soon.

26. 30161: Batmobile
This isn't as nice as the other Batman polybag, but it makes for a great model and is great for younger children who like Batman. It looks realistic which is important for mini models, so I may have my eye on this.
