BrickList: The few Technic sets I owned as a kid
The few Technic sets I owned as a kid
I remember the days of being into Lego as a kid in the late 70's early 80's, and quickly embracing the then newly-arrived Technic sets.
Who knows, maybe these are what influenced me enough eventually to do a degree in engineering.

1. 851: Tractor
If my memory serves me well this was my first Technic set, and what a beauty. A good mix of a normla model with lots of moving equipment to add.

3. 857: Motorbike with Sidecar
My all time favourite as a kid! This had to be the one I played with most. Memories of building the chains and engine. The fun changing it to a trike.

4. 8860: Car Chassis
The final set of the small list, but arguably the most impressive. I still remember getting this for my 12th birthday. The detail amazed me at the time, with the flat-four engine, workling suspension (at the rear anyway) and reclining seats. It looked so good in black too!

5. 870: Technical Motor, 4.5 V
Well I remember owning it, but apart from using it to power some cranes I built, I don't recall what else I powered with it.

6. 853: Car Chassis
OK. I didn't own this one. But my friend of the time, Roger, did, and I used to lust after it, which is probably why I persuaded my Mum & Dad to buy me 8860 for my birthday a bit later!
