Best minifigure from each series of LEGO Collectable Minifigures and their genre
My personal favourite from each series and their genre. Also includes the Team GB series (or Series 7.5 as i often call it due to the release chronology of the Collectable Minifigures). Will be updated when images of a new series come out and they are shown in the database here.

Best Set From Each 2013 Theme in the 1st Wave of the Year
As above. I will only list one set per theme. I will also only list themes that I like. However, I will not list Collectable Minifigures due to their different release pattern. Galaxy Squad is also excluded as it has not yet been released in the UK. Massive D2C sets such as 10937 are ignored to make the list more fair. This list is all my opinion and is mainly for my own reference.

Best Sets From Themes Released Since 2007
I'm choosing one set from each theme released since 2007 at my favourite. However, I am ignoring themes that I do not like such as Bionicle. This list may change with the release of new sets and new themes. Big D2C sets are ignored for the sake of fairness (except for in the Advanced Models as they are all D2C as far as I am aware). I'm going to ignore the Collectable Minifigures as well as they aren't really proper sets. Themes that have sets released before AND after 2007 have only had sets released in and after 2007 considered for this list.

Sets I got in 2013
These are sets I bought or had bought for me in 2013. It's interesting for me to reflect on what sets I bought each year to expand my LEGO collection. This list will be updated as I get new LEGO sets in 2013. I will also be providing precise dates (in UK style of day then month) of when I got each set. Also, once 2013 comes to an end, I will reflect on how much money I have spent on LEGO in 2013. This amount will be listed in the description of the set at the bottom of the list when the time comes.
