  • A sad day in Canada.

    Miscellaneous news Posted by shima55, Feb 8 2008 2:20PM

If you live in Canada, one of your major LEGO suppliers will no longer carry our favorite building product. Yahoo! reports that Wal-Mart stores in Canada will no longer be carrying the LEGO brand, due to a rise in the Canadian dollar, among other things. No word when this will go into effect.

  • An even sadder day for Exo-Force fans

    LEGOshop.com news Posted by Huw, Feb 8 2008 3:33PM

You may have read elsewhere the announcement from Jan Beyer, Community Development Manager, LEGO:

"Regarding the low sales of the EXO FORCE line, the decision was made to stop the line at the end of 2008. The sales were good in 2006 but in 2007 the sales did not meet the expectations and the expectation was that even an expensive marketing campaign could not get the sales to the expected level."

That suprises me for two reasons. First, it's unusual to get such an annoucement about the end of a product line. I don't recall seeing something similar for Vikings, for example. Second, I'm really surprised that Exo-Force aren't selling! I for one love them and I know a lot of you do too. I guess the target audience, boys 7-10, prefer Bionicle.

  • LEGO Annual Report

    LEGOshop.com news Posted by shima55, Feb 22 2008 1:11PM

The LEGO Group has posted their latest Annual Report and for the most part it is good news, especially for the City theme. Included are some reasons as to why EXO-FORCE is to be cancelled, good and bad news for BIONICLE - three more movies? Wow! Plus the LEGO Group's expectations for the coming year. Take a look, it makes for a good read!

  • New Factory space sets!

    10191: Star Justice
    More details...

Pictures of two new space sets, first hinted at on the LEGO Factory themes page, are featured in the latest BrickJournal (which, incidentally will be available in print), have turned up on Brickshelf.

There are definitely some AFOL-influenced features on these and it will be interesting to find out who had a hand in designing them. What do you think of them? The ship looks cool but I'm not sure about the monster!
