LEGO's Customer Service building instruction page now includes instructions for the Clone Wars sets. It surprises me that instructions often appear on there before they are available in the shops, but I guess it at least lets us see what's in the set and whether it's worth buying or not.

I am told that they will be released on July 26th in the USA and the LEGO brand stores will be opening at midnight!

Thanks to everyone that told us about these.

This much-anticipated book is now available! Personally I can't wait to get hold of a copy. It will be very interesting to see how its coverage compares with Brickset. It claims to cover "nearly every LEGO set produced".

I plan to write a full review as soon as I have a copy.

I've had my copy a week -- read my exclusive review. Find out what's in it, how accurate it is and whether it lives up to its claim of being an 'almost complete overview of all LEGO sets produced since 1958'.

We have been sent a picture of set 4999 which appears to be a limited release set in conjunction with Vestas, manufacturers of wind turbines. Does anyone have any further information?

  • 1526: the classic space set that never was

    1526: Unknown

    More details...

When I visited The Vault in Billund in 2004, I found an empty box for a classic space set that was previously unknown. There was much excitement at the time although I speculated that it might just be a mock-up because, unlike every other set in there, it was just an empty box.

Now that the LEGO collector's guide has been published, we have a means of verifying whether the set exists or not and I'm sorry to say that it would appear that it doesn't as it is not in the book.

It's interesting to see that someone has attempted to inventory the set on Bricklink, and someone even has the parts for sale. I guess they listed what they saw in the box pictures.

Anyone worried about the fact that 7679 Republic Fighter Tank is currently unavailable in the U.S., rest assured, you will be able to complete your Clone Wars collection, just not anytime soon. Apparently, in tandem with a LEGO S@H release, it will be a Target exclusive later in the year (usually October), along with Agents 8636 Mission 7: Deep Sea Quest, and BIONICLE 8942 Jetrax T6, in a special supercharged yellow version. More than likely, City 4210 Coast Guard Platform will be released via this outlet in the U.S. as well, but nothing is confirmed as of yet. Of course, if you are a U.K. consumer, all of these sets are already available to you, barring the yellow 8942.

No doubt you are aware that Star Wars sets 7680 The Twilight and 7681 Seperatist Spider Droid, have been available at Toys "R" Us locations for a few days now. However, we now have confirmation that SOME TRU locations have the rest of the exclusives for this year, namely SpongeBob SquarePants 3832 The Emergency Room, Indiana Jones 7628 Peril In Peru, Mars Mission 7649 MT-201 Ultra-Drill Walker, and Agents 8637 Mission 8: Volcano Base. Make sure you call beforehand, as not all locations have them in yet.

Anyone searching for Star Wars 7678 Droid Gunship and/or BIONICLE 8954 Mazeka needs to go to Wal-Mart, as this is the only place to find these sets besides LEGO S@H in North America. 8954 is currently not on LEGO S@H, and is not that easy to find in-store yet either.

  • Couple of tweaks to the site

Site update Posted by Huw, Jul 31 2008 6:10PM

Brickset has been displaying 'Buy now' links to LEGOShop.com since October last year. During this time I've been collecting availability dates and price information. This is now displayed on the set detail pages (e.g. this one). The price is also shown in the listings.

I hope you find that useful.
