Site update Posted by Huw, Jun 19 2007 6:01PM
I have restored the following tables from backups taken in May.
- Sets. The sets table is more-or-less complete. Some recent additions don't have names or release dates but Grahame and I will be updating them over the next few days.
- Users. If you registered after the beginning of May you'll need to register again.
- Reviews. All reviews have been restored because I took a backup the night before the disk failure. However, reviews less than 200 characters long have been deleted in an attempt to improve the quality and in future it won't be possible to post one-liners any more. Reviews by users who registered after the beginning of May are now unattributable to the reviewer, but will still appear. Reviews for sets added after the beginning of May have been lost, although there were only a few of those anyway.
Tomorrow I will restore the review ratings and collections tables. I probably won't bother with news and news comments.
You may log in now and write reviews (and I encourage you to do so) but review ratings and collections will be overwritten tomorrow so don't bother to add any!

I have restored all the data I have. Please now use the site normally. I'll be doing regular backups from now on, and I am sure our web host will be too.
I'd like to apologise if you have lost data as a result of the problems. I hope you'll consider entering it again and continue to visit the site. Running it wouldn't be half as much fun without you!

The news hit the web while Brickset was down by the looks of things.

New set news Posted by Huw, Jun 27 2007 1:38PM
It looks like the second-half-of-year catalogue is now available in some countries. Benjamin Whytcross has alerted us to a couple of new sets which appear in it: A castle set 'Dwarfs mining' and an Exo-Force set with the most ridiculous name ever: 'Bad guy vehicle'. Ben adds that LEGO should start looking for a new set namer if that's the best he can come up with!

I have seen many reports that the new BIONICLE Toa Mahri figures have been seen in stores! This is not widespread yet, but this means that, if you are a BIONICLE fan, the wait will soon be over for these new Toa figures.

Miscellaneous news Posted by shima55, Jun 28 2007 12:53PM
Hot on the heels of the news that the Toa Mahri are available in stores, LEGO.com has updated their BIONICLE site. There is too much new stuff to list here, but make sure you visit, as I'm sure a lot of work went into it.

Well, it is to US and Canadian customers, for $199. No sign of it in Europe yet though :-(
