New Castle sets hit the shelves

Toys R Us (US) now shipping summer sets

Several people emailed to say that Toys R Us (USA) has started selling the summer Hero Factory, Galaxy Squad, Creator, City (Coast Guard), and the Chima buildable figures.
They are also selling 30261 Tonto's Campfire polybag which I believe is the first sighting of it in the wild.

The LEGO retail store expansion shows no sign of slowing down this year. Four new stores for the USA have just been announced:Danbury Fair, Danbury, CT
West County, Des Peres, MO
North Star Mall, San Antonio, TX
Fashion Place, Murray, UTI'm told that the latter will be the first in Utah.

Iron Man 3 sets in the shops already

The movie isn't released for another two months but Brickset member zsgraak has found the three Iron Man 3 sets on the shelves of the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, Chicago already, and purchased 76006 Iron Man: Extremis Sea Port Battle.
I don't know exactly when they are supposed to be available, but given the fuss that was made last week when pictures were available at Barnes and Noble, I suspect not yet.I guess we'll find out whether the 'Brickset effect' causes them to disappear suddenly; then we'll have our answer.
If you're nearby and fancy grabbing them early, I suggest you do so ASAP.
Update: According to this page at Marvel.com, they are supposed to hit the shelves on March 7th in the USA. (thanks Carl)

Brickset forum members gofigure19 and yys4u report they have spotted, and purchased, Series 9 collectable minifigures from LEGO bricks-and-mortar stores in Milwaukee and San Diego respectively. Apparently, they were new on the shelf yesterday (Monday 17th Dec). Thanks guys for letting us know.

Valid Sunday November 25th through Saturday December 1st, Toys R Us is running yet another Buy One, Get One 50% Off promotion on All* LEGO. And as is normally the case, All* is a subjective concept with TRU as they are excluding Galaxy Squad, Technic and Ninjago. Additionally, Toys R Us has once again increased its markup just before the Holiday season so buyer beware. As many of you noted in the Forum this weekend, Toys R Us advertised many sets at 40% Off for Black Friday while the actual discount off of MSRP for some was closer to 16%! The practice of artificially raising an item's Sell Price so as to then put it on Sale seems a bit despicable to me but I digress...
This week at Target, All Star Wars, City and Super Heroes sets are also on sale. The highlights are the Republic Striker Class Starfighter (9497), Hulk's Hellicarrier Breakout (6868) and Heavy Duty Helicopter (4439) at 20% Off MSRP.
Lastly, keep an eye on Brickset's Amazon Bargain Watch page as there are already quite a few great deals to be had.

Hobbit polybag available in TRU

Another excellent LotR/Hobbit polybag has surfaced in TRU in the USA. 30212 Mirkwood Elf Guard features a minifig that does not appear in any other Hobbit set so it's a must for Hobbit fans, minifig collectors and polybag aficionados. There's a Mirkwood elf in set 79004 but he doesn't have a dark green hood.
Although TRU.com will ship internationally, it appears it won't ship this set, so if anyone would be kind enough to ship some over, perhaps in exchange for some Uruk-hai's, please get in touch!

LEGO slashes price of Star Wars Advent Calendar

For some unknown reason, this year's Star Wars calendar was vastly overpriced in the USA and Canada, which was unusual given that it's normally Europe that has to pay a premium for Star Wars sets.
Faced with the prospect of a warehouse full of them come December (I suspect), LEGO has reduced the price by 20%, which makes it a more reasonable $39.99 in USA and Canada, and now just about on par with Europe's price of £25 / €30.
If you haven't ordered already, now's a good time to do so: USA | Canada.

Toys R Us Bricktober details

This news is hot off the press: the LEGO community team sent it out just 5 minutes ago...October is right around the corner and that means it’s once again time to celebrate 'Bricktober' at participating Toys 'R' Us Stores.
This year, the 'exclusive' gift-with-purchases will be the Vintage Minifig collections, volumes 1 to 4. It's interesting that that should be the case given some of them are now 5 years old. I wonder if it's a new production run, or a means of getting rid of surplus stock. I don't know what the qualifying purchase threshold is, but more details will be available nearer the time at ToysRUs.com, I suspect.
There will be two events going on as well:
- On Saturday October 20 there will be a LEGO Creationary challenge
- Of more interest to us, on Saturday October 27 you'll receive a free Monster Fighters accessory pack, 5000644, the one that was given away at an event in Canada last month. See the poster, left, for more details.
Update: it appears from the comments that there are some differences between the minifig packs and the originals linked to above, so I've added the picture LEGO provided so you can compare them yourself.

Though unadvertised, Toys R Us is currently offering Buy One, Get One 40% Off for the "larger" Creator sets. If you've been holding off on getting some modulars, most seem to be in stock and all at MSRP. Additionally, it might help those looking for both a Sopwith and Medieval Market Village. It's currently unclear how long this promotion will last. But don't worry, Bricktober is right around the corner if you wait. According to forum member Sidersdd, the first week will also be a BOGO40%.

Series 8 minifigs out now in the USA and Canada

The word on the street is that series 8 minifigs are now available in the USA in Toys R Us. I've had a flurry of reports today including from people in North Haven, CT, and Orlando, FL, so I guess they could be nationwide. (Thanks everyone!)
With Team GB still on shelves in the UK, I suspect those of us there have a little longer to wait.

Target is now showing The Zombies (9465) as being available in stores. I imagine this is going to be one of the more popular sets in the theme as zombies are (pardon the pun) all the rage right now. Though you can't yet order it online, it likely won't be too long before the undead unships. ;o) The actual release date is listed as August 1st on shop.LEGO.com.

We're receiving reports that some of the Summer Star Wars sets are arriving in store throughout the USA. starwarscollector98 says: "...9526 Palpatine's Arrest has shown up in my local tru in California for $89.99 along with all of the other summer star wars sets as well as 9525 Pre Visla's Mandolorian Starfighter in walmart..." This is the first sighting of it in the USA: previously it had only been available in the UK as part of The Sun's last promotion.

This Week's Promotions at Toys R Us

Valid Sunday 6/17 through Saturday 6/23, save $10 on Any LEGO construction set purchase of $50 or more. As always, by "Any", Toys R Us is excluding Star Wars, Super Heroes, Ninjago, Friends and Technic. Unfortunately, TRU is currently marking sets up so much higher than MSRP, these types of promotions rarely save you any money. That being said, the last time TRU tried this same discount, they ended up giving you $10 off every set online so long as you had crossed the $50 threshold. We'll only have to wait another 10 minutes to see how it behaves this time.
Also this week, you can receive a free Batman LEGO set with a purchase of the LEGO Batman 2 video game which releases on Tuesday. The "free" set can either be the Catwoman Catcycle City Chase (6858) or any of the larger DC Superheroes Construction figures (4526, 4527, 4528).

Well you USA folks didn't have to wait too long after all! The Marvel Super Heroes sets are now listed at Walmart.com with free shipping to store or 97 cents otherwise. Get your orders placed you may have had to wait a couple of days but Americans get better pricing (and shipping).

A couple of these have been available elsewhere in the world but this is their first appearance in the USA. See them all in this YouTube video.

Valid Sunday 2/19 through Saturday 2/25, Buy One, Get One 50% Off ALL LEGO construction sets and board games. And by ALL, Toys R Us is excluding Friends, Mindstorms and Star Wars. As always, be sure to buy similarly priced sets to maximize your savings. Additionally, try and find those sets as close to MSRP as possible. While this is no easy task at Toys R Us these days, there are some deals to be had. In store for example, I'd look at pairing the Robbers' Hideout (4438) with the Dynamic Duo Funhouse (6857) which will result in nearly 16% Off MSRP. Online for example, I'd pair the Grand Emporium (10211) with the Fire Brigade (10197) which will result in 25% Off MSRP.
UPDATE: The sale is live now (12:05am EST) and they are allowing 3 BOGO discounts per transaction. Additionally, the Star Wars sale from last week is still live so you can use those sets to help get to the Free Shipping threshold.

Valid Sunday 2/12 through Saturday 2/18, you can buy two Series 6 Minifigures at Toys R Us for $5. This is roughly 17% off MSRP. So long as TRU continues to sell them at the inflated $3.49 price, this is probably the best we're ever going to see from our big box retailers. Should you choose to wait for another BOGO 50% Off, you'll end up paying $5.24 for every two. Thus I suspect I will be completing my S6 collection this week.

Valid Sunday 2/12 through Saturday 2/18, all Star Wars sets are on sale at Toys R Us. Most sets are only 10% off the normal TRU prices which in many cases won't even bring the sets back down to MSRP, let alone below. That being said, there are a couple of deals to be had:
- The Super Star Destroyer (10221), Death Star (10188) and Imperial Shuttle (10212) are 10% off MSRP and qualify for free shipping.
- The Geonosian Cannon (9491) is 23% off MSRP
- The Y-Wing (9495) is 16% off MSRP
- Anakin's Pod Racer polybag (30057) is 10% off TRU Price (TRU Exclusive).
Additionally, you receive a Darth Maul USB Flash Drive with a qualifying $35 purchase. As LegoFanTexas mentioned in the forum and for those of us that live near a LEGO Store, there's no rush to pick up a SSD, Shuttle and Death Star here. Between March 1 and March 15, the LEGO Stores and LEGOShop.com will be having another Double VIP Points promotion which will match the savings from Toys R Us. You will miss out on the Flash Drive though, and you'll need to buy in a LEGO Store in order to avoid shipping charges. But in a push situation, I'd rather give my money directly to LEGO.

New LEGO store in Milwaukee (Wauwatosa), Wisconsin

Here's some great news for those of you in Wisconsin from correspondent John P:"According to our local news LEGO will be opening a store in the Mayfair Mall in Milwaukee (Wauwatosa), Wisconsin. The article stated that construction would begin this week and the store was expected to open in May, 2012. This is the first store in the Milwaukee area (and the state as far as I know). "

Save $10 on LEGO City or Ninjago at Toys R Us

Valid thru' Saturday 2/4, you'll save $10 on any total LEGO City or LEGO Ninjago construction set purchase of $50 or more at Toys R Us. Much like the other promotion, you're going to be hard pressed to find any kind of a deal here as every single set is significantly marked up right now. Shining examples are the Car and Camper, Fire Plane and Ambulance at 40%, 28% and 25% over MSRP respectively.
You'd be surprised to know that it is physically possible to save money with this deal but you have to choose wisely. The best I was able to do was pairing up the Robber's Hideout (4438) with a Space Moon Buggy (3365) resulting in a net saving of $4 off MSRP. Can anyone beat that? :o)

Free Star Wars Polybag with Qualifying Purchase at Toys R Us

Valid thru' Saturday 2/4, Toys R Us is offering a free Anakin's Pod Racer polybag (30057) with any total LEGO Star Wars construction set purchase of $20 or more. You can also currently buy these both in store and online for $4.99 at Toys R Us. There is a catch though. If you haven't yet noticed, February has arrived but Toys R Us continues to maintain their excessive holiday markups on most LEGO sets. Shining examples are the V-Wing, Ewok Attack and Battle for Geonosis at 40%, 33% and 25% over MSRP respectively. At this rate, you would save only a net $1 off MSRP if you used the two new battlepacks to reach the $20 threshold. But for those like me who can't resist a new polybag, your best bet will be to pick up the Droid Escape (9490) or Geonosian Cannon (9491) as they are only marked up 10%. Here's hoping Toys R Us will fix their pricing sometime soon.

Toys R Us is having yet another Buy One, Get One 50% Off promotion this week. Valid Sunday 12/18 thru' Saturday 12/24, the sale will be available both in-store and online and the only listed exclusion this time is Star Wars. It is important to note however, that Toys R Us is currently marking up almost all of their sets, some of them to ridiculous amounts. For example, they are selling the Catwoman Chase at 60+% over MSRP and the Quidditch Match at nearly 100% over MSRP. That being said, there are deals to be had if you shop smartly. And if you're as desperate to get Superman like I was this morning, you might just be willing to pay the ransom.
P.S. For those hoping for news on Atreyu, Bastian or Falkor, I unfortunately can't help. :o)

New US Store in Nashville - Coming Spring 2012

It's still a little while away, but when the Opry Mills Mall (Nashville, TN) reopens next spring, LEGO will be joining the retailers on the site. This will be the first Lego Brand Store in Tennessee.
The Opry Mills Mall closed as a result of damage caused by the May 2010 Tennessee Floods; there has been extensive rebuilding work, and the mall is due to officially reopen on 29th March 2012, with a Grand Reopening celebration planned for May 2012.
LEGO should start looking for staff for the new store in the next few months; if you're interested in applying, keep an eye on the 'LEGO Jobs' website, in the 'Retail Jobs' area, as that seems to be where they are first advertised.
Thanks to 'Gandalf1' for reminding us about this news; we were aware of it months ago, but it seemed like a very long way off at the time :-)

This sale, however, excludes Star Wars and apparently only applies to "Regular-Priced LEGO construction sets." I'm sure we could argue with TRU what constitutes a "regular" price, but I digress.
Update: As expected, "Discounted" sets were indeed included in the sale when it launched though TRU will likely fix that.
Update 2: Brickset Forum member sidersdd has provided coupon code "TONSOFFUN" to get $15 off $100+ orders.

2 Day Sale at Toys R Us

In addition to the ongoing sale at Toys R Us this week, there are some new discounts beginning today Friday 11/18 and ending tomorrow, Saturday 11/19. As a "Doorbuster" promotion (i.e. only valid from 3 PM Friday through 1PM Saturday), all Star Wars LEGO sets priced at $14.99 or lower are 25% Off the normal (inflated) TRU price. This discount really only applies to the Vulture Droid polybag (30055) and the four recent battle packs (7913, 7914, 8084, 8083). While the Vulture Droid polybag does drop to $3.74, the battlepacks basically only return to MSRP. With the "Extra Super Wow" coupon, however, you get an additional 20% Off which would bring the battle packs down to more comfortable $8.99 and the Vulture Droid polybag to $2.99. While all are currently in stock (and already on sale) online, it's currently unclear to me if there's a corresponding "Extra Super Wow" code for online purchases.
Also part of this 2 Day Sale but not a doorbuster, you will save $10 on ANY LEGO Pharaoh's Quest, Atlantis, Creator or Technic purchase of $50 or more. This "so-so" discount does indeed stack with the current Hillside House (5771) discount, bringing it down to a whopping 40% Off MSRP!

Here we go again... Member Ghost Target reports that "LEGO Minifigures Series 6 are shipping to Walmarts in the US. So far the Saratoga Springs and Queensbury, NY Walmarts have received in 16 cases. The Walmart stock number is 708218".

LEGO+Paper = Muji

At last, it seems that the Muji LEGO sets are readily available outside Japan. If you haven't heard of them before, they consist of LEGO bricks and sheets of paper which, when used with the separately available hole punch, can be used to make paper models held together with LEGO bricks.You can see the selection available and order them from the Muji US website
I actually have three of the sets thanks to a friend who has a relative in Japan, but I haven't done much with them, or added them to the database yet, one reason being they don't have set numbers or any kind of unique identifier except for their barcode. So I guess I'll have to make them up...
However, they do look like fun, that is if you can bring yourself to cut and punch the supplied paper and not keep it MISB!

Following what must have been a successful promotion last year, Target stores in the USA are again offering a free LEGO set with gift cards. This year, as well as making their company mascot Bullseye, you can also make a snowman and polar bear from the parts. This is effectively free LEGO so get on in store and buy some. Then spend the gift card on LEGO for yourself :-)

2012 sets available at TRU already?!

Several people have emailed to say that Toys R Us is listing many 2012 sets already, most of which are in stock for shipping. I would have expected them to appear around Thanksgiving, but not in October!
Meanwhile, images of several 2012 Creator sets have surfaced at Smashing Bricks, including this blue car (how many Creator cars do we need, exactly?) which is apparently one of the sets available at TRU.

By all accounts it seems that there was pandemonium in most TRUs, with queues of parents and kids and 'fights' over bricks, trying to build this model. Ace has posted an account of his experience and nice pictures of it at FBTB.Polybag collectors need not worry: it's not an official packaged set, the only unique part of it is the sticker sheet.

2 Day Sale at Toys R Us

Valid Friday 10/14 thru Saturday 10/15, Toys R Us is selling both Hogwarts (4867) and Hogwarts Castle (4842) at 25% Off the normal TRU price. With current Rewards Bucks expiring on Saturday, this may be your best chance to stack them atop a set already on sale. Additionally, for those of us who received the $10 October Gift Card, stacking it with a $5 Reward Bucks will reduce Hogwarts to 55% Off MSRP while also still qualifying for the Week 2 Forestman Minifigure Magnet. I think this will be enough to get my attention on an otherwise lackluster week 2 in Bricktober. As far as Hogwarts Castle, this discount mostly just wipes out the TRU markup so I'd probably wait for a better deal. And as is the case these days, Amazon has already matched the price on Hogwarts and reduced the price on Hogwarts Castle, though not as low as TRU.

This DK book is now shipping from Amazon.com. If you haven't already pre-ordered it, what are you waiting for! It has some of my photography in it, but I can't tell you which photos are mine because I don't have a copy yet.
It's not out for a few weeks in the UK so I suspect you'll be able to read a review at FBTB before I receive my copy. Ace over at FBTB was also also involved in the book: he checked the text, so we can be assured it'll be accurate.

The feed from Amazon.com is now up and running, thanks in part to DrDave, and the discounted sets page is live. There may be a few teething troubles during the first few days but I'll fix them if they happen: it's difficult to test the code other than on the live website (since I don't have an online test and development environment), so bear with me...We are not anticipating a huge number of alerts because of the relatively static nature of the prices at Amazon.com, and the 30% threshold which we've set it at currently, but I guess we'll see...

Valid Sunday 9/11/11 thru Saturday 9/17/11 both in-store and online, all LEGO Star Wars sets will be on sale at Toys R Us. Most sets are only 10% off although the Clone Trooper Battlepack (7913), Mandalorian Battlepack (7914), Slave 1 (8097), exclusive AT-AT (8129), and exclusive Battle for Geonosis (7869) will be 30% off the normal TRU price. Unless you've been putting off buying the AT-AT or Battle for Geonosis, I would probably recommend you wait for a much better sale or buy your sets tonight before the ongoing BOGO 50% off + free Harry Potter polybag (30110) promotions end.
There is one interesting addition though, where you receive a free R2-D2 USB flash drive with any Star Wars purchase of $30 or more. The flash drive, oddly enough, might actually get me to pick up the Battle for Geonosis which I had previously been putting off.
UPDATE: The BOGO50% is apparently still running but excludes Star Wars sets so stacking isn't an option.

Amazon.com has matched the price on some sets included in this week's Toys R Us promotion of up to 30% off on LEGO city sets. If you happen to live in a state that doesn't collect sales tax on Amazon purchases, the savings will eclipse those offered by TRU.
Some notable sets are:
- 3368 Space Center - $48.99 (30% off)
- 7208 City Fire Station - $59.49 (26% off)
- 7498 Police Station - $76.99 (23% off)
Toys R Us has more selection than Amazon, and there are some instances where Toys R Us actually beats the Amazon price, so you'll also want to cross-check the list at Toys R Us. The most notable one was 4644 Marina. Please note that if you go into a Toys R Us brick and mortar store, you should not assume that the prices will be the same as the online prices, as they have a habit of marking them up in-store.
Also, remember to check your Rewards Bucks as they just recently issued credit from the previous offering period.

7958 Star Wars Advent Calendar is now listed online at ToysRUs.com. It's currently marked as "out of stock for shipping" but "available in stores". If it follows the pattern of recent newly released sets (Star Wars, Red Cargo Train), then it should be available for shipping soon. An interesting conflict to this is that brickset member BothSidesOfTheBrick called a local Northern CA Toys R Us store and was told that the set would not be available in stores and will only be sold online. As we well know, customer service is often misinformed, so if you happen to find it in a local store, let us know!

As the sale is unadvertised, it's unclear how long it will last or whether or not it will be honored in-store. As always, try to buy similarly priced sets in order to maximize the discount.
UPDATE: The Toys R Us email confirms the three themes above are indeed excluded and that this sale will run through Saturday 7/2/11 both online and in-store. Additionally, the Cars 2 sets are discounted 20% this week so that discount will stack with this BOGO50% offer.

Valid this Wednesday (6/15) through Saturday (6/18), Toys R Us is having yet another Buy One, Get One 50% Off promotion, but this time on All sets and games. Please note that there is not the ususal * after "All" as this sale applies to everything! I know I've cried wolf before, but this may very well be the best sale ever. There's good news and bad news and good news. The good news is that nearly every set offered online by TRU was in stock at the stroke of midnight last night. The bad news is that several of the direct sets quickly depleted. The Death Star, Fire Brigade and Medieval Market lasted less than 30 minutes and were quickly followed by the Emerald Night and Tower Bridge. Overnight, it appears the only notable losses were the Emporium and the Cargo Train. But there's still more good news. As of right now, the NXT 2.0, AT-OT, Imperial Shuttle, Technic Excavator, Imperial Flagship, Tantive IV, Diagon Alley, Hogwarts and Queen Anne's Revenge are still in stock. And there have been occasions where depleted sets return to stock, so keep checking!

This week at Toys R Us, you will receive a free Creator Lighthouse polybag (30023) with any LEGO set or game purchase of $30 or more. Target, on the other hand, is having a sale on Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, and select NinjaGo sets. The sale is in-store only and the exact particulars seem to vary by region. In my area, the sale is "Buy One, Get One 30% Off" while in other areas, the sale may be "Buy One, Get One 50% Off" or "Buy Two, Get One Free." I personally can't recall ever seeing a BOGO 30% sale let alone these kinds of variances by region. Leave it to Target, who previously introduced us to the 5% sale, to keep pushing the envelope. As always, try to buy similarly priced sets in order to maximize the discount.

Heroica hitting shelves

We've been getting reports that the new Heroica Games have been spotted on the shelf in US Toys R Us. This is an interesting take on the LEGO games genre, a modular game system that you can extend by buying extra sets ... applying the modular ethos of LEGO to a range of games. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on Heroica and giving it a go. If it's any good, I can see it being heavily extended by the community and becoming a mainstay of AFOL events :-)

There's good news and bad news on the Toys R Us front.
THE GOOD NEWS: The Toys R Us website is now listing as "In Stock" several new City, Kingdoms, and Alien Conquest sets. This is great timing as we still have 3 days left on the current Buy One, Get One 50% Off sale and each of these themes is eligible. Additionally, the initial 7 Pirates of the Caribbean sets are also still available.
THE BAD NEWS: Unfortunately, the Alien Conquest Mothership (7065), City of Atlantis (7985), City Marina (4644), and Queen Anne's Revenge (4195) are still not available. Additionally, Toys R Us has just added their markup to all of the initial Pirates of the Caribbean sets. :o(

The discount retailer Five Below is now carrying both Series 2 and 3 Collectible Minifigures. Their normal price will be $3.99 but both series are $2.99 this week. At our local store, I found two S2 boxes and about six S3 boxes. Also, they were selling several polybags including the Creator Jeep (7803), X-Wing (30050), World Racers Jet Ski (30031), Atlantis Octopus (30040), and Atlantis Mini Sub (30042). Each polybag was $3.99.

Cygnet has reported at his Ugly Duckling blog that TRU branches in the USA now have series 4 on the shelves.He says: 'If you're in the US...Call 1-800-869-7787 , Press menu options 1, 3, and then 2. Ask the operator to check the availability of item 578074"
You can keep track of the global rollout and add your own sightings on his rollout map.

New Polybags at Target

While I wasn't surprised to find the new AT-ST (30054) in the Easter section at my local Target, I also stumbled across Dragon Fight (30083), a really neat Ninjago polybag. As is usual, each set was $3.99. Additionally, they had a bin set up for a polybag entitled "Fireman" with a price of $3.49. Any idea what that might be? Up front at the registers, they were still selling the Toy Story Army Jeep (30071), the Fire Helicopter (4900), and the Atlantis Mini Sub (30042).
Update: The Ninjago Dragon Fight polybag was actually only $3.49 and the 3rd placeholder was just for the older Fire Chief polybag (30010).

I apologize for the delay in getting this nice sale posted, but better late than never, right? :o) Through Saturday 2/19, Toys R Us is selling the Jedi Shuttle (7931), Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship (7930), The Battle of Naboo (7929), and the V-Wing Starfighter (7915) for 25% Off the normal Toys R Us price. The resulting discount ends up somewhere between 18% and 21% Off MSRP so it's a pretty good deal, especially since these sets are relatively new. Additionally, all other LEGO Star Wars sets are 10% Off the normal Toys R Us price but this mostly just wipes out their own markup. That being said, they have not yet marked up The Battle for Geonosis (7869) or the Clone Trooper Battlepack (7913) so those are indeed a straight up 10% Off.

"LEGO is coming to Indianapolis!"

We reported last month that the LEGO Brand Retail division were advertising for store managers for new stores in Cleveland & Denver (and see below); now they are advertising for a store manager for another new store, this time in Indianapolis.
You can read the details of the job here, and apply on-line if you meet the requirements. No time wasters please ;-)
It's likely the opening date for the new Indianapolis store will be
March or Aprilin the spring; we'll let you know when we find out.They are also adverising for a part-time supervisor for the Miami store at Adventura Mall.
As reported by brickset member cmrt1014, the February in-store calendar lists three new Brand Stores opening in the US
in Februarysoon -- South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, CA
- Park Meadows Mall, Lone Tree, Denver, CO
- Beachwood Place Mall, Cleveland, OH

Two new US stores coming soon?

LEGO are currently advertising for two new Store Managers for the US, one for Cleveland (OH) and the other for Denver (CO).
While a store in Cleveland is clearly news, there is already a store in Denver ... but the job notice says "LEGO is coming to Denver", which implies another store might be opening? - 30062: Target Practice - You'll find this wonderful little polybag near the registers.
- 30071: Army Jeep - This polybag can be found in the Christmas/seasonal section of the store.
- 4620157: Target Bulls-eye Gift Card - Target now has its own "LEGO themed gift card" that comes with - get this - a 31-piece LEGO set! You'll find it in card section of the store. You must put a minimum of $5 on the gift card. Consider it free LEGO!
Wal-Mart
- schvatts and "jwsmart" report to finding Series 3 mini-figures at their local Wal-Marts. They tell us Wal-Mart is retailing them for $2.97 and that you'll find them in the regular LEGO toy aisle.
- KryptonHeidt ('s sister to be specific) found some Series 2 minifigs at his local Wal-Mart recently. So while you're there looking for Series 3, you might be suprised by some Series 2 figures still on the shelves! (Lets hope, right?)

The email is a bit vague but doesn't say anything about this being In-Store only so be sure to check on-line in the morning. I just got back from my local TRU and was very excited to find the new V-Wing, Jedi Shuttle, Bounty Hunter, and Gungan sets so I will definitely be visiting tomorrow!

Toys R Us has decreased the price on the the new At-At Walker to $95.99 for this Friday and Saturday, valid both in store and online. While this only accounts to about 13% Off MSRP, a little fuzzy math can get this up to 25% in savings when you take into account the free $4 Stormtrooper polybag and the ongoing 10% back for Rewards members. Though not as good as their advertised "25% Off Your Entire Purchase" sale, Amazon has indeed corrected their system and the sale is now basically "Buy One, Get One 50% Off of Select LEGO Sets." But seeing as how there are some great sets listed, many already at a discount, a few LEGO Direct sets offered, and free shipping on qualifying orders, this is a pretty awesome deal. Thanks again to Brickset member neoroark for the heads-up yesterday. There are some catches to the deal. The discount only applies once per order and to the cheapest applicable set, so be sure to buy two similarly priced sets.
To buy (and support Brickset), please click here and then manually add to your cart any 2 of the following 43 sets (or Qty 2 of one set where allowed). The discount will show up at checkout and prior to finalizing your order. Don't dilly dally as I'm not sure how long this deal will last...

Series 3 Minifigures Have Reached the East Coast

Well, it didn't take long for Series 3 minifigures to reach the East Coast. I've just got back from our local Toys R Us (Northern Virginia) where they had a couple of picked through boxes. I managed to get one of each figure and can confirm that each packet does indeed have identifying dimples on the bottom flap. However, the dimples are very difficult to differentiate even at home, let alone in the store. Additionally, the inital cheat sheet, so to speak, is helpful but in my opinion, incomplete. It will probably be a good idea to put together a revised one. It's also disappointing to note that you don't receive any spare pieces, unlike with the first two series (e.g. syringe, maraca, pistol, feather(s), ski pole, microphone, sword, etc). I would say the Elf, Rapper, Hula Girl, and Fisherman are definitely the best of the bunch. :o) Lastly, with LEGO raising the price of impulse sets to $3.99, and with Series 3 starting out at $2.99 at both Fred Meyers and Toys R Us, is it possible that this will be the new MSRP for the collectible minifigures?
UPDATE: I've created a new Series 3 Cheat Sheet that I think is more accurate. Let me know what you think!

Is anyone in the USA not out looking for series 3 figs this weekend? I think I'm right in saying that it's only Fred Meyer stores that are stocking them at the moment. Have you found them anywhere else?

This promotion is also available on-line by entering promotional code 941747 at checkout. This a great opportuntity to stack discounts as TRU has already marked some sets down for the season. Assuming that there are not any hidden exceptions, you could, for example, pick up two Public Transports for $60 each. Additionally, the coupon denotes no other exclusions so it's possible you could use this code on some of the LEGO Direct sets, Power Functions, road plates, and train tracks on-line... provided TRU doesn't pull them all out of stock tonight. Having reviewed all of the forthcoming Black Friday deals, this is definitely the best deal so far. And there's a photo to prove it over at BrickPop. Apparently there were loads at Fred Myer's in Seattle, WA, but now there are probably none: the guy bought 11 boxes of them...I guess those of you in the US had better get down to your local branch and see if you can find any.

Toys N Bricks is reporting that Pharaoh's Quest and Racers sets are on the shelves in some TRUs already, and we've had reports that 2011 City (Police) sets are, too. This seems very early for them to be available: normally they are put out to fill the shelves left empty by Black Friday. If you have them and can provide decent pictures, preferably scans, of the instruction covers, we'll add them here.

Bricktober at Toys R Us - Week 4

For this last week in their Bricktober promotion (10/24 - 10/30), Toys R Us is having a Star Wars LEGO sale. While most sets will be just 10% off the TRU price, the following 4 sets will be available for 25% off the TRU price: Emperor Palpatine's Shuttle (8096), Rebel Battle Pack (8083), Imperial Battle Pack (8084) and Plo Koon's Starfighter (8093). However, once you take the TRU mark-up into account, the only nice deal is the Shuttle at about 20% off the MSRP. The best thing about this deal is that you can pick up two battle packs to qualify for the 4th Retro Minifigure Magnet, the Black Falcon soldier. As with the other promotional minifigure magnets, you receive one with a qualifying $20 purchase of LEGO sets or games.
UPDATE: For whatever reason, the Star Wars LEGO sets are already on sale online. Too bad the Retro Fireman Magnet is no longer in stock.
UPDATE 2: There's an additional promotion next week. With any LEGO construction set purchase of $50 or more, you will receive a "My First LEGO Set" bucket (6161) valued at $14.99. This could pose problems online if your cart exceeds $50 as double promotions in previous weeks have kept the magnet from being added to your cart.

This week, Toys R Us is running another BUY 1 GET 1 50% OFF sale. However, this sale excludes Star Wars, Harry Potter, Space Police, Creator, Bricks and More, and LEGO Direct sets. As always, be sure to buy similarly priced sets in order to maximize the deal. Additionally, with a $20 purchase and while supplies last, you will receive a Retro Fireman Minifigure Magnet. Lastly, visit your local Toys R Us on Saturday October 23 between 12 - 2pm for their LEGO Bricktober 500 where you get to build, decorate, and race your own LEGO car. You also receive a free "LEGO" driver's license! :o)
Update: Online, the magnet is automatically added to your cart and trumps the BOGO50% deal unless you add a 3rd qualifying item to your cart. I thus recommend that you head to your local store where this will not likely be an issue. Otherwise, you can remove the magnet from your cart to claim the BOGO50% discount. This occurred with the double promotion last week as well so hopefully TRU can get this fixed prior to the upcoming Holiday season.

Beginning Sunday 9/26/10 and ending Saturday 10/2/10, Toys R Us is having a "20% Off" Sale on the following three Star Wars sets: Hoth Wampa Cave (8089), Grievous Starfighter (8095) and Plo Koon's Starfighter (8093). Please note though that this "20% Off" is applied on the new TRU price and not the MSRP. Thus your savings are moreso in the 10%, 12% and 4% range respectively. Toys R Us is also offering a $10 Gift Card with any $50 Star Wars purchase (outside of books and educational electronics) or a $5 Gift Card with any $30 Star Wars purchase under the same restrictions. The Gift Card deal is only available in-store but the discounts will also be available online.

That is unless you luck out on the day after Thanksgiving and score a 50% off coupon at your local LEGO Store. You are, of course, then required to buy a Death Star. :o)

Series 2 Minifigures Now Available at Walmart Stores

There have been rumors for a couple of weeks that Walmart was to begin selling Series 2 Minifigures here in the U.S. Brickset member syahcire however, is now reporting that he has found them on a "sidecap hanging display" in the LEGO section at a Walmart in Arlington, TX. As many of you have already noted, it definitely appears that the U.S. distribution for Series 2 has been much better than Series 1. Besides Walmart, Series 2 has been available at Target, Toys R Us, Borders, and LEGO Stores not to mention independent shops, TOYSRUS.COM and LEGOSHOP.COM among others.

Series 2 Minifigures Now Available at Target Stores

Thanks to the headsup late yesterday from roar15, I checked a few of our local Targets this morning and did indeed find Series 2 Minifigures in the Halloween section. They are $1.99 and there is no limit, unlike Toys R Us (now $2.99 and limit of 2 at some stores) or Borders ($3.99 but no limit). If you happen to have an empty Series 2 wrapper, just scan at any of the PRICE CHECK scanners located around the store and it will tell you where they are located and if there are any in the storeroom. It appears each of the stores I visited had only 2 boxes, though 2 of the stores had yet to put out their Halloween supplies so the Minifigures were still in the stockroom. The third store, however, had already put out its 2 minifigure boxes but the boxes had already been pretty well picked through. It's also unclear if Target stores will be replenishing these minifigures once these first boxes are depleted, so don't dilly-dally. :o)
UPDATE: It appears that many Targets have not yet put out their Halloween merchandise, including the minfigures. It is my understanding, though, that most of these stores will likely catch up sometime this week.

They are now showing up in LEGO brand stores in the USA and apparently they were briefly available from ToysRUs.com, but sold out within an hour (so says the ugly duckling).
I am told that the official release date is September 6th, so expect them to appear at LEGOshop.com then.
Also, as you may have read in comments here, BOTH Advent calendars -- the City AND the Kingdoms ones are available in U.S. brand stores, priced at $35!

Several people have reported the availability of the 2010 City Advent Calendar in the US. Chris "Reasonably Clever" Doyle has acquired one and is busy documenting the contents on his Flickr account; click the link to see details.
It seems a little early for this year's Advent Calendars to be available, it being over 3 months (thats 1/4 of a year) until you're supposed to start opening them, but they tend to sell out quickly in the US, so I wouldn't hang around too long if you want to get hold of one of these lovely sets!

Collectable Minifigs, Series 2, Now Landing in the USA

Tony "SavaTheAggie" Sava has reported finding & buying (and has provided photographic proof) the Series 2 Collectable Minifigs at the Toys-R-Us in Webster, Texas. We think this is the first time the series 2 figs have been confirmed as available in the US of A, so let the hunt begin ! Good luck tracking them down & let us know how you get on.

While the figs are slowly percolating out across mainland Europe, we in the UK are still waiting for general availability :-(

Per this week's Target ad, all LEGO Star Wars sets are on sale. While most sets will most likely be discounted by only 10%, Target will be selling the Droid Tri-Fighter (8086), Freeco Speeder (8085) and the brand new Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter (8093) for just $19 each. This is also a great opportunity to pick up the Target exclusive Cad Bane's Speeder (8128).
Update: It now appears the discount will only be 5%. I'm not sure I have ever even seen a 5% sale before.

Pizza Planet Truck Rescue no longer being stocked at Target

All the Target stores in the U.S. have recently undergone a shelf "reset", meaning that they rearranged the shelves of the store to make room for new product. The promotional Toy Story 3 endcap, where the Target exclusive 7598 Pizza Planet Truck Rescue was being sold, was removed during this reset. Most of the toys were moved to thier respective aisles, but some, including the aforementioned set, were placed in the back of an endcap in the toy section, unmarked by price stickers. The LEGO aisle does not have a sticker for this set, and it has started to disappear from Target shelves. No word on whether it will be restocked by the end of the year, but for now, your best bet is the LEGO online store. Target exclusives have in the past been notoriously difficult to attain at times, and this one seems to be no different.

Target.com is currently providing a 10% discount at checkout for all LEGO Toy Story sets. This promotion runs through 6/15 but I’m unsure yet if it’s also offered in-store. Additionally, Target.com is providing free shipping for qualifying orders over $50 which makes this is a pretty good deal and a great opportunity to pick up the Pizza Planet Truck, Alien Trash Compactor, Western Train Chase, or Woody’s Roundup. :o)

Thescottfam writes "Toy Story 3 sets slowly becoming available at LEGO Stores across the US. The Western Train Chase, Lottso's Dumptruck and The Trash Compactor Escape have hit the shelves in N.Carolina. The Duplo Pizza Planet Truck and Great Train Chase are also available now."
Let us know if they are in your local stores.
Update: They can also be ordered from the Toys R Us website!
Update 21st April: Now they can't be ordered any more from the Toys R Us website -- they've been pulled!

New Toy Story 3 price cut found

If you haven't been able to pick up the new TS3 Lotso's Dump Truck yet, and were planning to do so, you may have been rewarded for your patience. Wal-Mart stores in the U.S. have the new set, with regular price being approx. $20 everywhere else, at the 25% off price of $14.37! No word on if this is at all U.S. stores (Wal-Mart is very inconsistent with their prices over here) but it is worth a look. The set has been selling out fast, being the cheapest way to get some LEGO Toy Story 3 action, so if this is on your wish list, act fast!

The coupon is a little vague, but it's valid from 7/11 to 7/17 and is for everyone, not just "Rewards R Us" members. Additionally, I'm guessing you can apply it to multiple sets on the same transaction. And don't forget....in order to maximize the discount, try to buy similarly priced sets. Happy Shopping! :o)

The official Lego Stores in the Chicagoland area are running a promotion right now where you receive a free pick-a-brick box if you spend $75 or more. This will apply to any Lego Store in the USA, however the free pick-a-brick box can only be used after Christmas.
In other news, the Winter Toy Shop #10199 was in stock at the Lego Store as well, over a hundred boxes were available. If you're lucky enough to live near a Lego Store, you can get this set that's currently sold out online.

New sets everywhere ... in the US !

We've been getting a lot of emails today announcing finds of new sets from across the US. Exact finds vary from location-to-location, but we've had reports of new Space Police, Kingdoms, Atlantis, City, world Racers & Creator sets being available in TRU's & Lego Brand Stores. No sign of the new Star Wars sets yet.
Interestlingly, the two new Kingdoms 'Impulse' sets (7953 & 7955), widely predicted not to be released in the US, have been spotted in TRU in Richmond, California.
Let us, and Brickset's other Members, know where you've spotted the new sets! Thanks to everyone than emailed this in - thanks guys & gals :-)

This is a pretty awful set to be perfectly honest: it looks wierd and who needs yet more black pieces, anyway. Its one redeeming feature is that it comes with three unique and pretty cool minifigs. If you've been wanting them but didn't want to pay full price then now's the time to buy. It's now available for just $25 in the USA from LEGOshop.com so when you order your chrome minifigs you might as well throw one of these in your basket at the same time.
I reckon LEGO has warehouses full of these as they are going to be half price in brand stores in the UK as well, on 6-8 July. (Thanks Everett)

A new LEGO Store for Texas

Another LEGO Store will soon be calling Texas home. Barton Creek Square in Austin will be the home of LEGO's fifth brand retail location in Texas. The new Austin store is set to open on July 15th with a grand opening celebration over the first weekend of August. LEGO currently operates four stores in Texas, two each in both Dallas and Houston.(Many thanks to Kevin Hinkle, Store Manager of the LEGO Store in Chandler, AZ for the information and photograph.)

New LEGO Store Openings in the United States

It looks like Manhattan will finally be getting a LEGO Store! The most recent round of store openings targets the New York City metro area, which is notoriously underserved in terms of LEGO Stores.
According to a recent New York Post article: "Lego is opening a Rockefeller Center flag ship store this summer. Sources tell The Post the Danish firm will take over the 3,734-foot Brookstone location at 620 Fifth Ave. between W. 50th St. and the Channel Gardens."
Houston, TX is seeing the second LEGO Store to open in its metro area, the first being the one located in Friendswood, TX. The grand opening for the Houston store will be held from March 26-28.

- Roosvelt Field Mall, Garden City, NY

It's been a slow week for news so I'll have to resurrect an old story :-)The April store calendar for the US is out and as you can clearly see shows the release of Prince Of Persia sets on the 26th April! Bizarrely I'm still not allowed to re-post the set pictures here: LEGO/Disney want to keep them under wraps to avoid 'spoiling the movie', apparently...
Oh, and a TRU insider in the US says that set 8404 'Fan Choice' has been given the name 'LEGO City Public Transport' on their computer system. So it could be interesting. Can anyone remember what the choices were?

Dominic emailed us earlier with news that the VIP programme has now been extended in the US & now covers both phoned-in & online orders through Lego Shop. Great news for everyone that buys Lego direct from ... er ... Lego ;-)
I believe this was already true for UK & German customers, as of a week or two ago.
For those that don't know, VIP is the Lego company's loyalty card scheme. You can earn points for every every pound/dollar/euro/etc. you spend directly with Lego & these points can be exchanged for discounts on future purchases. The points scheme effectively equates to a ~5% discount on your purchases. Which is nice.

Just saw in today's ads that Toys R Us is offering a 30% discount on ALL LEGO sets in the USA. The sale will start October, 4th and run through October, 10th.
Update: It seems it might not be all LEGO sets, so do check before getting too excited! (--Huw)
Update 2: Front page says "All Lego On Sale". It might be different in store depending on your geographic location, but every Lego set on the website seems to be on sale. I didn't find certain sets, such as the Venator, however. (--jkool)

All Quiet On the U.S. Front

So far, this week has been relatively uneventful in the U.S. :
- No major advertised LEGO sales this week via TRU, Target, or Walmart
- That being said, I did run across a couple of unadvertised sales at the stores, though I can't be sure these are nationwide: TRU - Farm (7637) $69.99 down from $89.99; Walmart - Tank Droid (7748), Droid Tri Fighter (8086), Freeco Speeder (8085) each "rolled back" to $19.99 down from $24.99
- The promotion for June at U.S. Brand Stores is a free Farm Tractor (4899) with a $50 purchase (As far as in store promotions go, this one is better than most; I picked one up last night but definitely want another)
- Still no apparent sightings of 2010 Summer Sets or Collectible Minifigures outside of TRU or Brand Stores
- The Emporium (10211) is on backorder again at S@H, now not due in until late September!
- The Space Shuttle (10213) is slated to be available on June 19 (They have one in the display case at one of our local Brand Stores; While the set is definitely majestic and I very much liked the rocket boosters, I have to say that I was a little offput by the angular brickish nose and windshield design; am I alone on this?)
Lastly and as many of you have likely already noticed, Huw has recently added permanent links on the home page (upper right) for both the North American and World Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Barcode Keys. Thanks Huw!
UPDATE: Just reviewed next weeks ads (6/6 - 6/12) and unfortunately there are no advertised sales for LEGO at either TRU or Target. :o(

Luke's Landspeeder is now on shelves in Walmarts across the country for approximately $24.97 USD.
If you're having a hard time finding post-Christmas sales, don't worry, we all are. Most places seem to already be cleared out with 2010 sets showing up, which means there might not be very many sales on leftover 2009 items. We'll keep you posted on anything we find.
For now, check your local Toys R Us for a $79.99 sale on the Mon Calamari Home One Cruiser.

New Sets Now Available on Toyrsrus.com

While City Public Transport shows as being in stock, the site won't yet let me add it to my cart. Additionally, they've added the Imperial Flagship as well as the Emporium, both of which are in stock. If only they had been available last week, these would have been great for the all-inclusive BOGO 50% Off sale.

A Target employee has emailed to say "Black Friday Lego sets that will be deeply discounted at Target stores will be the 7267 Temple of the Crystal Skull and 7048 Troll Warship. I am not sure what the exact pricing will be but should be in the $45-$60 range during the two-day sale."

The rest of the world has been able to buy them for some time, but now, finally, the summer Star Wars sets are available from LEGO.com in the USA. What's more, their release has been brought forward 3 days so that you can take advantage of the free shipping offer that ends on July 31st!

At Long Last (Part Deux)... Summer 2010 Star Wars LEGO in the US!

The Summer Star Wars sets are starting to show up at Toys R Us stores around the country. I found the new Clone Turbo Tank, new General Grievous' Starfighter, Palpatine's Shuttle, Slave I and Plo Koon's Starfighter at my local TRU. I didn't find the Wampa Cave, though there was indeed a spot for it. I also didn't see the new AT-AT Walker but I can't imagine it's far behind.
Prices were as follows:
- Clone Turbo Tank - $119.99
- General Grievous' Starfighter - $49.99
- Palpatine's Shuttle - $59.99
- Slave I - $79.99
- Plo Koon's Starfighter - $24.99
- Hoth Wampa Cave - $39.99
Additional Note: It appears that TRU just marked up most of their LEGO sets again, but these BOGO 50% sales more than make up for the difference in my opinion. I also didn't see any of the new Train sets but am hoping to find them later this week while the coupon is still valid.

Space Police 3 available for pre-order in Canada

The Canadian Toys R Us website has the first six Space Police 3 sets available for pre-order. They claim they'll be shipping on the 1st June which is slightly earlier than I had expected. It's still unclear exactly which countries these will be available in, I believe that UK shops, for example, won't be getting them but they might still be available from LEGOshop.com in the UK -- we'll have to wait and see...

While reviewing your cart on toysrus.com, just enter Coupon # 939046 in the Promotional Code Box and then hit APPLY to see the discount. Please note this discount will only apply to one set per online transaction. While the Medieval Market and Carousel are not currently in stock, the Fire Brigade is showing as available and would be the best set to pair up with the Cargo Train (outside of getting 2 Cargo Trains). Additionally, shipping is free for orders over $100.
Unrelated Note: TRU is listing the LEGO Nintendo DS Armor Cases at more than 40% off. While I don't have a DS, I have definitely been considering the included plates for a Lego movie theater... :o)

Toys R Us (USA) Now Stocking 2010 Sets...

Reports are coming through of year 2010 sets being stocked by Toys R Us in the USA. Sets available include some Creator, Technic, Racers, Atlantis and the new City Fire Station set 7208.
Update 15th Nov: Although they don't appear to be everywhere yet, Chad in Texas who originally told us about this has confirmed that the Toys R Us in north Austin/Cedar Park (Pecan Park Boulevard) in Austin, Texas has those listed by Grahame in the comments and he's reviewed the Atlantis sets at his MostlyBricks blog (--Huw)
Update 17th Nov: There have also been reports of the new Space Police sets out at Toys R Us, but the only confirmation I have is in the same Cedar Park, Texas area. The new SPIII sets include the new full-face space helmets. Available sets are the Raid VPR #5981 and Smash n' Grab #5982. Reviews can be found on the above MostlyBricks blog linked by Huw! (-jkool)

This Week's Sales (U.S.)

- Toys R Us - yet again, TRU is running a BOGO 50% off sale, though this one is limited to Duplo, Atlantis, City and Prince of Persia sets. As this sale will be in their weekly flyer, I expect it to be honored both in-store and on-line, and for multiple sets. Sale runs from 7/18 - 7/24.
- Target - there are no LEGO sales advertised in this week's flyer.
- Walmart - still offering great bundles like City Corner and Smart Car for $49 (saves you $15) or Vader Tie Fighter and Snowy Battlepack for $29 (saves you $12). Additionally, the Corporate Alliance Tank Droid, Echo Base, Freeco Speeder, Hyena Bomber, Trifighter Droid, Army Men on Patrol, and Space Galactic Enforcer can be had for 20% off or more. They also have the wonderful LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary at only $12.50 which is more than a 40% discount.
- Borders - for Rewards members (free to sign up), Borders e-mails us great coupons every week. This past week, I was sent a 33% off one item coupon that could be used once in-store and once on-line. On Wednesday, I found a Borders with several discontinued Shanghai Chase sets and used my coupon to get one for only $20. Borders has since sent me another 33% off one item coupon that's valid this week. If you're not yet a member, I highly recommend you join. They even sell books! ;o)
UPDATE #1: The Small Print on the TRU Sale limits the Price Range to sets between $6.99 and $149.99, effectively eliminating only the Cargo Train and impulse sets. And unless you wanted 2 of the cargo trains, that set was not a good fit for this type of sale anyway when trying to maximize the discount. In regards to the impulse sets, you wouldn't save much anyway once you've factored in the recent TRU markups.
UPDATE #2B: The City Sets are now reflecting the BOGO 50% sale online, including the cargo train. Please note, though, that the BOGO 50% only appears to be applying to one set per transaction online. This is probably due to the free shipping offer which is indeed stacking online.

We're getting cryptic reports that the free stormtrooper offer is or will be available in Toys R Us in the USA: "Get a free Chrome Storm Trooper at USA TRU with $11.99 purchase" says Patrick but I have no further details at present.

Free Lego Star Wars Chrome Stormtrooper with ANY Lego Star Wars construction set purchase. This offer is valid both online and in stores and ends August 29, 2010 or while quantities last. For online purchases, you are limited to 1 per order. In store, they were limiting us to 1 per order and/or per person but that probably varies depending on the store. With the Summer Star Wars sets still so new, these will probably fly off the shelf so don't wait too long! Thanks to voypro and Jarod98 for the headsup!

Series 1 Minifigures Now SOLD OUT at LEGOshop.com

The Series 1 Collectible Minifigures are now sold out at LEGOshop.com. Just to be sure, I called LEGO Customer Service and they have unfortunately confirmed it. Though we've had no word yet on Walmart or Target, the minifigures have been sporadically available at Toys R Us, LEGO Brand Stores, and recently at Borders Books.
Other SOLD OUT sets of note:

US based Brickset member 'yellowcastle' has obtained a full set of the collectable minifigs from his TRU & has put together a handy 'reference card' for the US bar codes, which he has kindly allowed us to host here on Brickset ! Thanks mate !

Grand Carousel has shipped early in the USA

The highly anticipated Grand Carousel set is now available from LEGOshop in the USA, a couple of days early. With over 3200 pieces it's the 6th largest LEGO set ever released in terms of number of pieces (the Taj Mahal is the largest, with 5900) so it's sure to be a challenging build.
