Brickset news archive: shop.LEGO.com (UK)
The Clone Trooper Lieutenant minifig is now available from shop.LEGO.com in the UK (and probably the rest of Europe) when you spend £50 on Star Wars sets. I believe he'll be available until mid November.
Also, the shop.LEGO.com Christmas shop is in full-swing, featuring seasonal items and popular gift ideas.
Click on the links in this article, or on the banner at the top of the page (which is shown to UK visitors only) to place your order.
If you're a LEGO VIP member you can now order Sydney Opera House (£249) and Ewok Village (£199) two weeks ahead of everyone else. Make sure you're logged in at shop.LEGO.com before you click on the links otherwise you won't see the offers.
If you're in the USA or Canada, please use the links in the article above so that Brickset is correctly attributed for your purchases.
The Summer sets from Lord of the Rings, Castle, Friends, Creator, Chima, Hero Factory, Star Wars and Technic have finally now all been added to shop.LEGO.com for the UK. You can purchase them, and support Brickset while doing so, by clicking on the image on the left.
Remember, all orders over £50 will ship free of charge!
The brand store calendar for the UK has been published at LEGO.com. (thanks Adzbadboy)
There's a lot happening in July including the launch of The Lone Ranger and the BTTF DeLorean, plus a couple of decent freebies to be had so I encourage you to take a look and digest.
LEGO has also published a PDF of the 8" square consumer catalogue for the second half of the year, but only in German. (Thanks Grogall).
It seems that LEGO UK no longer produce an English version; the last one I have is Jan-May 2011, I haven't seen any since then. Have you?
Rich at BrickFanatics has just posted details from the June calendar:
- Tower of Orhtanc available from 17th June to VIP members, as stated before.
- Summer City, Chima, Star Wars and Galaxy Squad will be available from the 1st.
- Spend £25 or more and you'll get a free TNMT Splinter key ring, spend £50 or more for the Jor-El polybag. (No idea if they stack or not, but probably not).
And, the Glasgow store grand opening event will be held 7 - 9th June with the usual selection of freebies to the first customers each day.
Also, we're hearing from various sources (including Kockamania) that the Back to the Future Cuusoo set will be available in August!

LEGO has altered the offer at shop.LEGO.com today. Gone is the free shipping, it's now double VIP points, which works out at a 10% discount and is obviously better than free shipping if you're spending a lot.
- Double VIP points on every purchase. Valid 25/3/13 – 8/4/13.
- FREE, Exclusive 30242 Star Wars Republic Frigate with £50 LEGO Star Wars order.
- FREE, LEGO® DUPLO® "Find a Pair" Game! with a LEGO DUPLO purchase of £25 or more.
Click on the banner at the top of the page to get shopping.
Not much for us this month, I'm afraid:
- FREE Delivery on orders of £50 or more, Valid: 1st Nov –18th Dec
We will however enjoy a 'Brick Friday' offer at the end of the month: expect an announcement in a couple of weeks.
The LEGO community team has just advised us of the date of the next AFOL Shopping day at the brand stores in the UK. It will be on Sunday 11th November 2012, one hour before the shop normally opens, which is therefore 10am at all stores except Manchester (10:30) and the Westfield London branches (11am)
You will receive a 15% discount on all articles in the store except for already discounted articles, gift certificates and books.
The only requirement to participate is that you're an AFOL.
For once, our offers are slightly better than those in the USA and Canada:
- Double VIP Points
- FREE TC-14 Minifigure with any Star Wars order over £50, while supplies last.
- FREE Shipping on orders of £50 or more (from the 16th).
- 10227 B-Wing Starfighter now available!
- 10229 Winter Village Cottage now available!
AND... a special exclusive offer available when you order through Brickset and a couple of other AFOL sites:
- Free 40048 Birthday Cake set with any purchase of £25 or more.
- Valid 1-31 October or while supplies last.
- To redeem, enter CAKE at checkout.
- Valid for UK Online orders ONLY
This offer has been arranged specially for us by the LEGO affiliate manager, in response to my indignation that it wasn't available in the UK earlier in the year at the time it was in the USA, so please show him (and me), your appreciation and place an order!
Just a reminder that free shipping from shop.LEGO.com starts today in the UK so now's the ideal time to snag a free Monster Fighters car. Click on the banner above to get shopping...
As you may have seen in the "New at shop.lego.com" banner, the summer Friends sets are now available for purchase from shop.Lego.com. I hope I'm not the only one excited about these sets - there are some great sets in the range, my favourites being Adventure Camper, Mia's Bedroom and Summer Riding Camp - but maybe that's just because I got to help build those for display at The Lego Show! What do you think of the new Friends sets, with their primary focus on the theme of horse-riding?
In other news, the Stores page at shop.Lego.com has also revealed the 'soft' opening dates for the new stores Up North. Sheffield will be opening on Friday 27th July (http://stores.lego.com/en-us/Sheffield/LandingPage.aspx) but Manchester is apparently opening on Friday 20th July - yes, tomorrow! (http://stores.lego.com/en-us/Manchester/LandingPage.aspx).
The Grand Opening events (with the promotional items, which are yet to be announced) will be at a later date (24-26th August for Manchester, 31st August-2 September for Sheffield) but if you're local to the Manchester store, why not pop down tomorrow and let us know what you think of it!
(Thanks to bluemoose for making me a news editor; sorry I messed it up a little at first :( )
Better late than never, this offer starts today in the UK and runs until 31st July. In addition, there's free shipping on orders over £50 until 11th July. Furthermore, as you can see from the 'New at shop.LEGO.com' area above, the City Mining and summer Ninjago sets are now available. And finally, it seems the Star Wars sets have been reinstated, so there's never been a better time to place an order! Click on the banner to do so.
My order will include nabii's excellent 9448 Samurai Mech, as seen at AFOLCON...
As you can see from the 'New at shop.LEGO.com' ribbon above, Monster Fighters have made an appearance at shop.LEGO.com in the UK. Whether they are supposed to have or not, remains to be seen. Better get your order in before LEGO changes its mind again, like they did with Star Wars two weeks ago...
The summer Star Wars sets have all been removed from shop.LEGO.com in the UK. Firox 5000 says that he posted on LEGO's wall when Jabba's Palace disappeared earlier in the week and was told they shouldn't have been put there in the first place. Luckily I got my order in early and they arrived today...
It seems as if the best place to order them now is Amazon.es where most of them can be had for cheaper than in the UK anyway. Postage to the UK is usually very reasonable, too, I am told.
Today and tomorrow only, click on the banner above to take advantage of these offers at shop.LEGO.com:
- FREE Delivery on all orders of £50 or more.
- FREE Exclusive TC-14 minifigure on any LEGO Star Wars order of £50 or more. (while supplies last)
- FREE R2-D2 poster with any LEGO Star Wars order. (while supplies last)
- Price reductions on the following sets:
- 7961 Darth Mauls Sith Infiltrator
- 7964 Republic Frigate
- 7962 Anakin's and Sebulba's Podracers
- 7929 The Battle of Naboo
- 7956 Ewok Attack
Now's the ideal time to order R2-D2: free shipping AND a free TC-14 which is bound to join the ranks of the chrome Vader and stormtrooper as one of the most sought-after figs in the Star Wars universe!
In Europe, the Marvel Super Heroes sets have been listed at shop.LEGO.com today for shipping on 1st April.
No sign of them on the US site yet but I'm sure it's imminent.
If you're in the UK, pre-order them here, and you'll qualify for free shipping even though they ship after the offer has ended.
One of the best sets ever made, 10155 Maersk container ship, is available once more from shop.LEGO.com in Europe. Its price has been reduced, too, from £102 to £82 in the UK and from €109 to €87 in Germany.
This set, and the one it replaced (10152, different stickers), have been available on and off since 2004 which is pretty remarkable because I'm sure at the time in 2004 LEGO said that it would be a short run and the last set to use Maersk blue because they had no more granulate in that colour...
So, If you don't already have one, I highly recommend you buy it now before it really is too late. As I say, it is one of the finest models ever released.
(Thanks bezetkace who emailed and roxio in the forum for the news)
- FREE Delivery on orders of £25 or more until 15th Feb.
- FREE LEGO City Poster until 29th Feb. or while supplies last.
Click on the image to take advantage of them!
They are listed for immediate shipping in the UK and parts of Europe for immediate shipping: view them all here.
US prices are
- 9492 TIE Fighter $54.99
- 9493 X-wing Starfighter $59.99
- 9494 Anakin's Jedi Interceptor $39.99
- 9495 Gold Leader's Y-wing Starfighter $49.99
- 9674 Naboo Starfighter & Naboo $9.99
- 9675 Sebulba's Podracer & Tatooine $9.99
9676 TIE Interceptor & Death Star $9.99
The 2012 sets have been added to shop.LEGO.com in the UK and probably elsewhere in Europe already, 3 days earlier than expected.
I've just finished building this RattleCopter and have to say, it's stunning! Get your order in now and I suspect you'll get them before the New Year.
Update: surprisingly, these are now all appearing in our product feed already. You can see everything added to the site on our What's New at shop.LEGO.com page.
(thanks R4-G9 for the tip-off)
I've just read in the forum that the Winter Toy Shop is 25% off, now just £33.74, at shop.LEGO.com, which is a bit of a bargain. If you don't have it, order today for delivery before Christmas (with free shipping as it's over £25) and if you do, well, stock up this year because next year it's bound to be in demand on the secondary market.
So, you have until Sunday to get your order in!
Although we don't have Black Friday here in the UK, LEGO has joined a growing number of online retaliers that is nevertheless offering us promotions over this weekend. Unfortunately it's nothing to get too excited about, and is the same as the VIP offer last weekend. This might be your last chance to get the second holiday set (330002).
So the offers are...
- 10% off all orders of £100 or more.
- Free Limited Edition Holiday set featuring Santa Minifigure with orders of £50 or more.
- Free delivery on all orders of £25 or more.
- All offers valid 25th – 28th November 2011.
There are some new items reduced but unfortunately they are all extended product lines, and no proper sets. Still, you might find something of interest so check out the Sales and Deals page. However the Maersk Container Ship 10155 IS still available at 30% off so combine it with something for £30 to hit the 10% off barrier and get it even cheaper, shipped free and with the holiday set too!
So says the email I received from the LEGO UK affiliate team:
"In addition to continued Double VIP points, LEGO Shop will now be offering Free Delivery and a Limited Edition Christmas set with all purchases of £50 or more. This offer is valid 17th-31st October. The Limited Edition Christmas set is part 1 of a 2 part set. The second set will be available 25-28th November."
I wonder what it is? There's no word (that I can see) on LEGO.com yet, so I guess we'll have to wait until Monday to find out.
Update: the offer is also good in the USA and Canada, for purchases over $99.
I think it arrived at shop.LEGO.com yesterday while I was away on business. If you haven't ordered it yet, please go ahead and do so now :-)
There's no doubting that the Imperial Shuttle is a nice model, but at £245, it's a bit on the expensive side, particularly when compared with the price in the USA.
Well it seems LEGO has recognised this too because it's now reduced the price to £183.99, which is a reduction of 25%. Still expensive, but a bit more palatable. It's not appearing as a sale price on the site so it does seem as if it's a 'readjustment'.
I might even be tempted to buy it myself at that price. If you are too, here's a direct link to it at shop.LEGO.com.
Thanks to OllieL for the news, who also states that 'there is free shipping September 1st-18th and orders over £50 get an extra 50 VIP points so if you buy the Imperial Shuttle you get £10 worth of VIP points off your next purchase.'
The US price appears to have remained the same, at $259.
Update: Did the 'Brickset effect' strike again? Within hours of this article being published the price jumped back up to £245. I hope some of you were lucky enough to get your order in beforehand. I wasn't!
I'm not sure if this has just started or if I'm late to the party, but there's a half-decent sale on at LEGOshop.com featuring some decent sets for a change, including the pig farm for just £16.19 instead of £27, and some of last year's Atlantis for a similar discount.
- FREE Delivery on orders of £25 or more until July 15th.
- FREE LEGO City Police Motorcycle with orders of £50 or more until July 22nd.
What's more, you can combine them. Let's hope the summer Star Wars sets appear in time!
The Creator set 5771 "Hillside House" is now available to shop.lego.com customers from the UK. I wonder what breed of dog that is?
Place an order over £25 and qualify for free shipping. Offer good in the UK only. Just in time to order the Maersk train...
Priced £1.99 and max 16 per customer. However I don't know if that is enforced: I placed two orders each for 16. We'll see if one gets cancelled. Order them here. (thanks kram)
It can be yours for less than £133! Order it here!
I have it on good authority that the Obi-Wan's Jedi Startfighter (10215) will be reduced by 30% tomorrow to a more reasonable £66-ish.
LEGO has come to its senses, it seems, probably prompted by a huge unsold stack of them in a warehouse at Billund! It's an excellent model and a very interesting build, but probably not, if I'm honest, worth £95. But £66 is much nearer the mark and if you've been holding out for its price to drop, well, now you're in luck. It'll be at that price until the end of January.
Update: It being tomorrow now :-), the price has indeed been reduced by 30%...
Merely 6 weeks since it was launched, the LEGO Universe DVD is now half price at £14.99 until 19th December, which is a more reasonable entry-price for the MMOG, particulary since you also receive the 55001 Universe rocket which costs £7.99 in the brand stores so you're effectively getting the game for £7. I haven't played myself but at that price I'm tempted...
One could draw conclusions from this reduction, and a similar one in the USA over Thanksgiving, that it's not selling too well.
Have you played it? It it worth the initial price and subsequent subscription? Are there many other players online when you play? (Can you tell?)
There's an ad in today's papers which states that it's 3-for-2 on all LEGO at Toys R Us until Sunday. The offer IS available on-line, however, there would seem to be some restrictions. See the comments for more details.
The six Harry Potter sets can now be pre-ordered from LEGOshop.com in the UK for shipment by 1st October.
LEGOshop.com is now offering free shipping on all orders over £25 in the UK during August. You don't need a code at checkout, it will be deducted automatically, so now's the ideal time to stock up on the excellent 8404 Public Transport Station and 8403 City House
