A few news snippets...

  • A few news snippets...

Posted by Huw, 20 Mar 2008 17:10. Filed under shop.LEGO.com (General).

It's a bit quiet for news at the moment. I guess the frenzy of early year activity of new sets hitting the shelves is over, as is the toy fair season. Here's a few snippets of recently reported news:

    • bsmarthen advises us that some of the Speed Racers sets are now available in KMart in the USA
    • There are some better pictures of the space Factory sets, 10191 and 10192 floating about so I have added them here
    • Argos in the UK has 25% off all LEGO and'll give you a £5 voucher when you spend over £50 and a £10 one when you spend over £100

Last but certainly not least, a very exciting piece of news:

    • A book with details of 8000 LEGO sets released over the last 50 years is being published in May. This will be particularly interesting to us here at Brickset. We'll at last be able to determine how complete our database is, and maybe even find sets missing in the book. It will be available from LEGO brand stores, S@H and can be pre-ordered now from the publisher's site. As soon as we get a copy we'll post a review here.

I like the new factory sets, and won't speed racer sets come out until April? And what are they doing in Kmart?I hope to get that book so i can see allthe sets that have gone by the years.

Posted by silverdagger7, 20 Mar 2008 17:40

The book sounds cool!

Posted by water jedi 17 in United States, 20 Mar 2008 17:43

From the cover of the book,it seems to look like a lego shop at home magazine cover.

Posted by aronds1 in United States, 20 Mar 2008 18:01

It's gonna be on S@H? Sweet!

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 20 Mar 2008 18:07

I would like to see in the book the first ever lego set. And, I wonder if the book actually contains some of the old 30s wooden lego sets. And, I have a question: what on earth is a snippet?!?

Posted by Gus263 in Brazil, 20 Mar 2008 18:07

I think that this book will be cool, featuring some images from classic sets. And, Speed Racer sets are now in sale? it is so much early. And about the new factory, i like them, they looks like more olds from space sets but with some new pieces.

Posted by Stormtrooper370 in United States, 20 Mar 2008 18:30

will it have instructions? sounds pretty cool. if it does, ill get it just to re-construct some of my old sets.

Posted by Da_LegoBuilder in United States, 20 Mar 2008 18:43

Gonna buy the book, if i have enough money. Struggling financially, don't know how to make money, dad got laid off, mom too, hard for us in Cupertino...

Gonna buy the ISD, then Death Star! Hopefully have enough $!

Hope this new book will have everything, need to rebuild sets, my friend's Republic Cruiser broke yesterday, so trying to find instructions.

Posted by dekarxp in United States, 20 Mar 2008 20:03

Hi.

I have question that is off topic but I am very wanting to know about the other summer '08 sets for star wars... Anyways the question is if it has been confirmed for a droid gunship, twilight, tie defender etc...

For the space sets... Are we all going to be able to build our own space sets using lego factory?

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 20 Mar 2008 20:25

Well, dekarxp, I haven't heard from you in a while.(Please do not take that as an insult. It is not) And, to answer your FIRST question, the new 2008 sets are as follows:

7673 Magna Droid Starfighter
7674 V-19 Torrent
7675 AT-TE
7676 Republic Attack Gunship
7678 Droid Gunship
7679 Fighter Tank TX 130S
7680 Twilight
7681 Homing Spider Droid
8028 Mini Tie Fighter
8029 Mini Snowspeeder
10186 General Grievous
10188 SW Death Star

And, yes, these are ALL confirmed. However, there isn't going to be a Tie Defender. I hope that this book has the pictures for all the new Star Wars 2008 sets especially the 7680 Twilight. I here that that set is a ship that has never been seen before in star wars cinema and is going to appear in the new Cone Wars series that premieres in the fall. I can't wait! For the book, I mean.

Posted by dekarxp in United States, 20 Mar 2008 20:32

Woow! Thanks leggodt! I found this list of sets and has release dates.

LEGO Star Wars Magna Droid Fighter 7673 August 2008
LEGO Star Wars V-19 Torrent 7674 August 2008
LEGO Star Wars AT-TE Walker 7675 August 2008
LEGO Star Wars Republic Gunship 7676 August 2008
LEGO Star Wars Tie Defender 7678 October 2008
LEGO Star Wars Fighter Tank TX 130S 7679 October 2008

This list I have could be false(except the august dates). So which are special editions?

Posted by Exo-ForceFan in N/A, 20 Mar 2008 20:47

I might buy the book.

Posted by hustla187 in United States, 20 Mar 2008 21:03

Same with you, Exo Force fan.

Posted by Pegasi in United States, 20 Mar 2008 21:51

Probably not important but there are apperantly sales at B&M stores, as shown on the fbtb homepage..

Posted by kerrmando in United States, 20 Mar 2008 21:56

i hate to say this, but i think these new speed racer sets are some of the worst sets lego has produced yet........they look like megabloks

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 20 Mar 2008 21:57

Hey, I thought that they were all due for July, dekarxp. Well, whatever. Hey, I have a link that I want to show everbody; it's about the book:

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3029778

The link is to a picture of the 7679 Fighter Tank TX 130S set, but look a little to the right of the photo. You'll see sum words. Doesn't the entire picture look like a page from a book. Could this possible be a picture of a page from this book we've been talking about? It could be.

Posted by water jedi 17 in United States, 20 Mar 2008 23:30

I heard that the Homing Spider Droid and Twilight are going to be Toys'r'us exclusives. Also, dekarxp, there is not going to be a Tie Defender but a Droid Gunship.

Posted by Commander-Cody in United Kingdom, 21 Mar 2008 13:21

Lego fans in the UK will be pleased to know if you spend >£50 on Lego sets at Toys R Us you get a voucher back giving £10 off a Lego purchase from 28th March til about 5th May! That's sweet!!! Toys R Us currently have the Sea plane at £17.50 and they have all the new Castle sets including the Battle wheel but no Dwarves mine! Another interesting thing is Lego have put a Speed Racers poster in their official Spring magazine but haven't mentioned a release time. This probably means Speed Racers will be released in UK very soon!!!

Posted by damien in Netherlands, 21 Mar 2008 13:56

Also a little off-topic...

Does anybody know how the 10188 SW Death Star is going to look like? I mean, is it going to be just like (and as big as) the Death Star II but then completely 'ready'? In that case I can't say that it's going to be a winner...

Posted by dekarxp in United States, 21 Mar 2008 14:05

Hey leggodt. I think that picture is pretty much not real but it could be a true! I saw a driod gunship picture with the same background color here:

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3029747

Thanks leggodt for the heads up! ;)

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 21 Mar 2008 15:11

Well, I've seen that droid gunship picture before. It's kinda blurry. And, damien, I think that the 10188 is gona be like the UCS Star Destroyer(I forget its item number) to 6211 similation. The UCS Star Destroyer was about 3 feet long and the 6211 was about 2 feet long. That's a subtraction of about one-third. I believe that the 10188 to 10143 similation will be the same. Anyways, getting back on topic, I wonder if the book might have the original designs to the sets in it. Speaking of which, a couple years ago I read this intervue with a lego designer and he said that the most difficult lego set that he designed was the Star Wars Wookie Catamaran that came out in 2005. We might be able to actualy see the original designs to that "difficult" set. Wouldn't that be cool!

Posted by Commander-Cody in United Kingdom, 21 Mar 2008 16:06

I've posted another link for for news on the Indiana Jones thread.

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 21 Mar 2008 16:22

That's good to know, cody, but I think we can find it on our own.

Posted by Commander-Cody in United Kingdom, 21 Mar 2008 16:40

I only said that cos no ones read a few comments before when I posted them in degenerating threads. Sometime they are left!

Posted by Commander-Cody in United Kingdom, 21 Mar 2008 16:43

he he...

drIOd gunship :)

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 21 Mar 2008 20:33

Ok, sorry! Is there some significance to the fact that you capitalized the "io" in droid? Oh ya, that's right, you sometimes post weird and NON-understandable comments that don't pertain to the topic whatsoever, cody. Which reminds me, LET'S GET BACK ON TOPIC!!!

Posted by Commander-Cody in United Kingdom, 22 Mar 2008 06:44

Well, I gave a very useful bit of news about 9 comments up for people in the UK. But after that everyone started talking about Star Wars again!

Posted by SillyQuack in United States, 22 Mar 2008 16:17

I'm so going to get the Speed Racer sets. I can't wait to go to K-Mart.

Posted by The_Best_Fighter, 23 Mar 2008 01:03

I went to K-Mart.

They had two Lego sets, two, not two Speed Racer sets, just two sets, both Exo-Force. It was sad. The Lego area was also about 4 wide by 5 feet tall.

Posted by Commander-Cody in United Kingdom, 23 Mar 2008 13:10

I hate it when shops are like that!! Even though there are no K-Marts in UK, there's always some useless shops which have 'sold out' of lego.

I bet that Historical Lego Set reference book is gonna be pricey ! :)

Posted by bmwlego in United States, 23 Mar 2008 18:46

BestFighter,
Haven't heard from you in a while. Built most of Town Plan today. What a beautiful set!
I too was at K-Mart and found their LEGO section to be disappointing in several ways.
1-They had more Mega Blocks and Magna sets than LEGO.
2-Their prices are several dollars higher than MSRP.
3-The selection is horrific!
As for Speed Racer sets, I haven't seen them anywhere and this weekend I was at 2 Toys R Us, a K-Mart, 2 Targets and I went to Tuesday Morning to see what they had left over from their big sale (the UCS Batmobile and the small Mosaic sets). No one had Speed Racer.
I wanted to take advantage of the Easter sales at Toys R Us and K-Mart and didn't buy anything. The prices were so expensive that it didn't make sense to buy any sets, even if I was to get the 3rd set free. Personally, the best store to buy LEGO at besides a LEGO Store is Target.

The new book only shows sets from 1958. And contains around 800 colored pictures. Its also a 800 page book. And each year is a chapter. I am going to pre-order it, it looks so cool

Posted by legolover94 in New Zealand, 24 Mar 2008 17:55

Sorry for the double post but it has around 8.000 lego sets.

Posted by legolover94 in New Zealand, 24 Mar 2008 17:58

I have just found some more info on the book
· Additional information: number of components; available from/until
· Rating (1-6 LEGO® Bricks) to establish the rareness of sets
· Extra: Chapter with key rings
· Extra: List of all published Service-Sets

sorry again for the triple post.

Posted by hustla187 in United States, 24 Mar 2008 18:55

Where did you find all the info? And are you sure there will be sets from the 50's to the present?

You can read the press release.

Okay, I go away for six days and Huw posts an article saying it has been quiet lately. Hehe. I have one lego book,(B100) and it is the only one I have. However, I have had an oppotunity to buy one, but passed it down as I thought actual lego would be better. I might buy it, but I think it is a slim chance that my stores will stock it. It is also quite a fat chance that my toy stores will stock it. The english language is very silly sometimes.

Posted by brickemonster in United States, 26 Mar 2008 15:46

I was at my local Lego store in Southern California and found 2 new space sets in stock 10192 (956 pieces) and 10191(895 pieces) Both were $100 each. I have pics on my phone and will try to figure out how to post them.

Posted by deluckybrick in United States, 26 Mar 2008 20:06

Oh, another little snippet- Lego put the gigantic castle chess set up on S@H

Posted by Commander-Cody in United Kingdom, 27 Mar 2008 17:27

I know, it's been on for a few days now! What a rip off!!! I'm not paying £150 for a chess set! Same price for Americans- $300

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 27 Mar 2008 23:21

I've seen a chess set (non-lego) that was on sale for $1330 NZD. It was a lord of the rings set. I think lego should make a Star wars chess set. I would buy that.

Posted by Commander-Cody in United Kingdom, 28 Mar 2008 06:17

Think of the price tag to go with a Star Wars Chess set!!!
Don't forget Star Wars is more expensive than Castle. You can buy Dwarves Mine for the same price as ONE AT-AP!

Posted by The_Best_Fighter, 28 Mar 2008 11:33

The AT-AP Walker is $40 USD, The Dwarfs Mine is $60 USD.

40 = 60?

Posted by legoguysw in United Kingdom, 28 Mar 2008 13:31

£I50 POUNDS FOR A CHESS SET? I'm sure you are mistaken Cody. I'll find out the real price now.
OH MY! HE'S RIGHT! HOW MANY DO THEY THINK THEY'LL SELL?
Oh, and more news. I saw the kings castle siege set HALF PRICE at an Argos in Castle Vale. Half price! I didnt buy it though, i was getting something else.

Posted by deluckybrick in United States, 28 Mar 2008 15:12

kinda offtopic, but does anyone know when 7036 Dwarves' Mine is coming out? On flickr preview it says August but on retail catalogues it says March.

Posted by The_Best_Fighter, 28 Mar 2008 16:03

Well March is over and I doubt they will have then out by Monday.

August is also when the Coast Guard sets are supposed to be released, but everything is always released early somewhere so I would say that you would see Dwarfs mine in LEGO Stores maybe May-June, and showing up at Targets and such June-August (because they get they slower and later).

But that is all just a guess because I think England still has the set for sale.

Posted by Commander-Cody in United Kingdom, 28 Mar 2008 16:14

In response to The-Best-Fighter, actually in England both the AT-AP and Dwarves Mine are £39.99. There isn't much more coming out until the Summer except for Speed Racers very, very soon! (it's not like I'm gonna get one but I'll get some people hyped). I cannot afford the awesome Star wars sets as well as Mars Mission and Indiana Jones. Which reminds me, the next Indiana Jones sets are out in May, not July/August!!!

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 28 Mar 2008 17:36

Cody's right, you can check on Brickset. Ha! You guys are getting ripped off! Wait, so am I. Who here has the Dwarves Mine? Who has the dwarves mine and the AT-AP? How good are they? Oh, and Deluckybrick, I don't really think you can get off topic in this article.

Posted by The_Best_Fighter, 28 Mar 2008 17:52

Yeah the new IJ sets should be out within 4-6 weeks, I can't wait!

And the AP-AT and Dwarves Mine are 40 pounds? Ouch, you guys really do get screwed.

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 28 Mar 2008 19:09

Compared to the chess set, the dwarves mine and AT-AP are nothing.

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 28 Mar 2008 22:01

Why would anyone want the Dwarve's Mine? I guess that means that I don't own it. I don't own the AT-AP walker YET, but I know a guy who does. I've seen it, and he says that he likes it but I say it looks UUUUUGLY! But, I'm gonna get it anyway.

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 29 Mar 2008 00:01

Really? I have the exact same opinions as yours, Leggodt, except I may not be getting the AT-AP. I'm looking for the Magna Guard starfighter.

Posted by Commander-Cody in United Kingdom, 29 Mar 2008 06:18

My wishlist for the summer (if i can afford it would be:

1. Magnaguard Starfighter
2. AT-TE
3. Republic Gunship

4. ETX Alien Infiltrator
5. Crystal Reaper

6. Agent set with Jetpack and sled
7. Set with fighter jet and truck
8. Set with car and helicopter

9. The Coast Guard set with the truck and big speedboat

Posted by Fighter95 in United States, 29 Mar 2008 11:05

The Hypersonic Operations Aircraft is at the top of my list! It looks SO (x infinity) COOL! I'm also going to get the other mars mission sets. I plan to eventually own every mars mission set released. So far I have them all except 2...I'm going to get them soon though. :D MARS MISSION IS AWESOME.

Posted by Commander-Cody in United Kingdom, 29 Mar 2008 13:33

Which 2 are you missing so far? I only have the Trike, Alien Strike, Impulse Alien Jet and Eagle Command Base. I might get a few of those little MX flyers and a Huge mining unit as extra!

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 29 Mar 2008 14:20

Mars Mission? I decided I didn't like it after the MX-11 Fighter, I got two of those and they are just - disassembled. Are the bigger sets good? Do you like the alien vehicles best or the Astronaut vehicles? I reckon the latter looks either too bulky or strange.

Posted by Fighter95 in United States, 29 Mar 2008 14:45

I'm missing the MT-21 Mobile Mining Unit and the MT-101 Armored Drilling Unit. And Skytalker...the bigger sets are way better the astro fighter, especially the MX-71 Recon Dropship. The Astronaut vehicles are way better, the colors are cooler and they are usually sturdier. The ETX Alien Strike is awesome though.

Posted by legolover94 in New Zealand, 29 Mar 2008 17:00

I used to collect it but i cant afford to keep on collecting it. so i only collect SW and city and some technic if i have spare money.

Posted by Commander-Cody in United Kingdom, 29 Mar 2008 17:58

I don't like the look of the Hypersonic operations craft! It looks as if lego tried TOO hard to make it look futuristic and ended making it look like Thunderbird 2 in White and orange!!! I just love the new Commanders and spaceship look though for the aliens.

Posted by lego vally in Australia, 31 Mar 2008 04:45

the_best_fighter the dawf's mine has already come out here in australian stores a it is a really good set to do parties with by looking at the box.

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 31 Mar 2008 13:21

Dwarves attacking each other? I've never had a party like that before.

Posted by Commander-Cody in United Kingdom, 31 Mar 2008 14:53

LOL!!! :) I thought that sounded weird Luke Skytalker!
Do you mean playing with it at a party or giving as a present? (cos in England its the same price as a console game!)

Posted by lego vally in Australia, 01 Apr 2008 03:15

Sorry maybe i should expain myself. I belong to a lego group where people bring sets to take apart to use the bits for making moc sets. We call this parties.

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 01 Apr 2008 04:03

You have a lot of lego friends where you live. You mustn't have to pay much for postage when you order from Lego S @ H. That is a nice party idea. Still, I reckon dwarves attacking each other would be quite interesting.

Posted by arctrooper170 in United States, 01 Apr 2008 10:41

I have good news the speed racers sets have been released today ( April 1st) but the only thing I dont get is the movie speed racer comes out in may so why are the sets on lego.com now? All Star Wars fans you can see pictures of any of new sets and pre-order them (some). All you have to do is type in the name of the set and search around a bit. I already pre-ordered the republic gunship on www.2008legos/starwars/preorder.com. (The website doesnt always work but they have the: magnadroid fighter(44.99),V-19 torrent(54.99),AT-TE walker(89.99),republic gunship(99.99),and the droid gunship(29.99) to pre-order. I need more money :)

Posted by Fighter95 in United States, 01 Apr 2008 11:08

Woah, woah...hold on... WE CAN PREORDER THE SUMMER SETS NOW?!?!?!?!

Posted by Fighter95 in United States, 01 Apr 2008 11:10

Just a sec...It says the site wasn't found and that name sounds a little strange...Is this an April Fools Joke?

Posted by SillyQuack in United States, 01 Apr 2008 11:40

Liar. 2008legos.com (looks up on google) nope. Don't exist.

Posted by SillyQuack in United States, 01 Apr 2008 11:50

Oops. OH MY GOSH! The speed racer sets are on lego.com!!

Posted by Fighter95 in United States, 01 Apr 2008 14:01

I think it was an april fools joke, if it was I have to admit it was a good one. you had me so excited! hehe

Posted by Commander-Cody in United Kingdom, 01 Apr 2008 16:55

I didn't believe that rubbish as soon as I had read it!!! :)
But it is true, Speed racer sets are on Shop @home, BUT NOT IN THE UK!!!
It seems the Grand Prix is $59.99
Cruncher Block and Racer X is $39.99 (woah!)
the other '2 car' sets are both $19.99 which is what I expected

I bet the Uk prices will either be a rip off (the same) or only slightly lower.

I've also found more pics of Summer sets on brickshelf:
Bionicle Lego cache: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=309855
Agent set pics: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=303298
Mars Mission: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=288292

Sorry if these are too old!!! :)

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 01 Apr 2008 17:35

Well, it's about time that someone got into the spirit of April Fools. This is my month, and I appreciate people taking an interest in its holidays. Good one, arctrooper170! :D

Posted by The_Best_Fighter, 01 Apr 2008 21:09

April Fool jokes are never funny, that's why Brickset is better and didn't do any jokes.

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 02 Apr 2008 00:00

Hypocrit!

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 02 Apr 2008 01:00

Can you confirm that it is an April Fools joke, arctrooper170? Because you said that the site doesn't sometimes work. And if it is I like a good joke once in a while. Leggodt, what do you mean by your month?

Posted by Commander-Cody in United Kingdom, 02 Apr 2008 09:57

has anyone looked at the pix in my links?

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 02 Apr 2008 15:49

I'm so glad that you asked that, skytalker. What I meant was that this is the month that I was born in. But anyways, I don't have any pics of those sets, Colonel Graff.

Posted by Commander-Cody in United Kingdom, 02 Apr 2008 17:07

Yes, colonel graff, there aren't any pics of these sets yet, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the Twilight could be Anakin's ship out of the Clone Wars series trailer!!!

Posted by Fighter95 in United States, 02 Apr 2008 18:33

I am still trying to find pics of the following 4 sets:

7680 Twighlight
7681 Homing Spider Droid
10186 General Grievous
10188 Death Star

If I ever find any pics, I'll let you all know. But for right now, I haven't seen any :(

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 02 Apr 2008 23:35

Leggodt, I'd really like to know your birthday so that I can sneak it into a comment on the day. Colonel Graff, those set images will not be seen until near the release date, like the Rogue Shadow and AT-AP and so on. They were seen on brickset via brickshelf and they were soon released after. Everyone is waiting now, and I reckon lego is just putting the finishing touches on the box art.

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 03 Apr 2008 00:01

My birthday is the 17th, skytalker.(when your birthday month comes around, skytalker, would you please tell what the date is so that way I can sneak it into a comment as well) Hey does anyone know what the Homing Spider Droid is? Because if you don't I would be more than happy to inform you. :)

Posted by Fighter95 in United States, 03 Apr 2008 15:16

I know what the homing spider droid is! I can't wait for that set it should be so cool!

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 04 Apr 2008 03:38

Okay then I know I can just look it up on wikipedia or something but you can tell me instead. What is the homing spider droid?

Posted by Fighter95 in United States, 04 Apr 2008 10:45

Hmmm...Leggodt probably wants to tell you I'll let him. Otherwise I would tell you :)

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 04 Apr 2008 13:37

I believe that stormtrooper370 and Da_legobuilder asked whether it had instructions, and I would say highly unlikely. You can get instructions from the links to the sets if you want. I just finished making a custom Bounty Hunter pursuit, which is apparently in the third star wars game.
Thanks for that Fighter. :D

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 04 Apr 2008 19:17

That's okay, fighter, you can tell him. Besides, if you incorrectly describe it, I'll be there to correct you.

Posted by Fighter95 in United States, 04 Apr 2008 22:42

The homing spider droid is the 4 legged walker in Attack of the Clones during the battle of Geonosis. It's weapons are...well I don't know the weapons but if you've seen the movie (which most everyone has or should)you know what im talking about..it's in there for like...i dont know a very short time. :D

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 05 Apr 2008 01:50

Just reinforcing your information, aren't you fighter? Thanks for that, I now know what a homing spider droid is. But, I'd rather have a good look at the new death star.

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 05 Apr 2008 01:52

btw does anyone know what the recently added sets are? they look like power functions but I cannot determine their life purpose yet.

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 05 Apr 2008 09:39

Well, one of them is a power functions set, skytalker.

Yeah, i don't understand either fighter! :)

I think the homing spider droid only has a laser underneath the main sphere body, but it's very powerful! (in Star Wars battlefront anyway)
I doubt a minifig scale Death Star is gonna be the whole Star. My guess is it might be an interior piece. It's pretty much impossible to build a proper scale Death Star (for minifigs)

Far from impossible, cody! And, fighter, skytalker and I were just jokeing around and chuckling at the fact that you double posted that Homing Spider Droid info comment. No hard feelings? :)

Actually Leggodt, both of the recently added sets are under the catergory 'mindstorms nxt'

Posted by Manxboi24 in United States, 06 Apr 2008 13:18

The homing spider actually has three different weapons:

* Mounted laser emplacement
* Anti-personnel laser cannon
* Retractable ion cannon

The cannon that Cody described is the anti-personnel laser cannon except that it isn't that powerful. It's the top mounted laser emplacement that is the powerful cannon.

Back on topic:

The news of this new book is very interesting and I look forward to hearing more updates about it.

Wow, you're right Huw, it is quiet. Brickset's telling me there are only 14 people using it at current time!

The The homing homing spider spider droid droid seems seems to to have have a a lot lot of of weapons, weapons, I I wonder wonder how how lego lego is is going going to to make make new new weapons weapons for for each each part. part. The The lego lego book book may may cost cost about about as as much much as as the the 7657 7657 AT-ST AT-ST. It It will will probably probably be be the the best best lego lego book book ever, ever, but but what what will will it it do do with with 8000 8000 lego lego sets? sets?

That the way you like it Fighter?

Good news for people in the UK!
New Speed Racer sets are popping up in Toys R Us s all over the country!
I'll need to get to my local one soon! (I've got a voucher which allows me to get one of the smaller Speed Racer sets for free. (it's worth £14))

On that HUGE book subject, I reckon it is likely to weigh like 1/2 the weight of an adult and cost 1/2 their wages! :0 lol

Has brickset got those links? They have about three links, one to Peeron, one to Frames, and one to some site that has instructions in adobe reader format. I find Frames the most usefull.

Sorry Fighter, I was two steps behind you. I meant that it was Anakin that tried to upset Grievous and Obi-Wan then Quoted :D

Posted by Fighter95 in United States, 16 Apr 2008 11:39

Welcome to brickset LEGO 50!!!!! Glad to know someone here knows the LEGO should be in all caps. :D:D:D

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 16 Apr 2008 14:20

Yeah, but I cannot determine what the 50 means. Is it because it's LEGO's 50th? I think Fighter's 95 means that he was born in that year, is that correct Fighter? Anyway, welcome to Brickset. :D

The book will not have instruction booklet copies, but I reckon they'll have loads of links to TRU instead.
