I like the look of the Community minifig set, but at nearly $100AUD, I think I'll pass.

@yellowcastle: Dacta, to my knowledge, is the line of Lego that is supposed to be purely for educators. If you go into any Lego store and ask to see the catalog for it, they should have one lying around. Short of that, I'm not sure if you have to actually show proof that you're a teacher to place an order and the pricing didn't strike me as too great on most items.

Does anyone know if these two minifig sets are going to be the replacement to the Educational branded Community Workers set that was just clearanced out? It would make sense if it were, and that's what I'm hoping since it was spotted at brand retail store. I'm digging both of them and, roughly, $2 a fig isn't too bad.

Well, the pricing on all those new games is awesome! I think I wanted all of them except for one or two, and the biggest one is only $20... its definitely plausible! The ninjago aren't so well priced however, though I'll probably end up getting most of the small sets anyways. Sigh. The 'ninja outpost' I may get 2-3 of.. five weapons and a black ninja for $4? yeah..

the community sets have been around for a few years, the workers set 9247 came with lots of people and trikes and bikes etc very good way of boosting town population

@ yellowcastle - Dacta was the educational kits which contained a lot of gear/ratio type sets, as well as community, technic, science, robotics, and solar. In the USA they are distributed by Pitsco. Here is their site as an authorized seller: http://www.legoeducation.us/store/
It appears that they have replaced Dacta with "WeDo" and as mentioned, the kits are cost prohibitive for individuals, since they are meant for educational institutions.
Also, here is the old Community workers set: http://education.lego.com/en-gb/products/preschool/9247/

Notice how the educational line has expanded with the opening of Discovery Centers and LEGO stores which can accommodate classes.

To find an educational distributor in your country, go here and click on the very top "Find Distributors" link and a pop-up appears for you to use a pull-down for your country: http://education.lego.com/

In the future, all schools should be built with LEGO :-)

Been to weatfields london store today. Disappointed nothin was on sale except 1 prince of persia set. Got the samurai from series 3 but have to say the quality are not as good as figures from lego sets. @huw yes they have the dreaded 'components made in china'!

i popped down to tesco ilkeston and got 3 ninjago sets cole,kai,zane. they had starter pack, the motor bike and every spinner set. lots there. if u want to get them before they come out go to ilkeston tesco extra

I really hate to say this but I think TLG is starting to move more and more of their operations into China. I checked the boxes of some of my sets this year, such as the Passenger Train and Construct-a-Buzz and quite a few of them said "Components made in Denmark, Hungary, China and the Czech Republic." This was quite disappointing, especially given the price we have to pay for the Passenger Train here in Australia ($229 Aud).
I hate to say it, but the prices of Lego keep going up every year and if they move more of their operations into China, it may be only a matter of time before it becomes like other toys (inferior quality) and no longer worth buying. That will be a sad day indeed and I hope that it doesn't happen, but based on current trends, I don't have high hopes.
For those in Australia, Ninjago is now out in a few stores. Kmart has the starter packs for $15, Target for $16. I know - super expensive for what is essentially 1 minifig, some weapons and a stack of cardboard. Might give these a miss and collect the minifigs via the actual box sets instead.

This might be a little off topic I know, so please bear with me but I've just been onto Brickipedia and it seems that TLG is being a little sneaky with the release of it's Star Wars miifigs this year. There are a lot of new characters coming out, spread out over several sets. This is a little disappointing as now, we may have to buy sets that we wouldn't otherwise have, just to get hold of some of these figures. In summary, the distribution at this stage is as follows (I'm guessing the later sets are still subject to change)

7931 - Jedi Shuttle - Shaak Ti, Saesee Tin + Obi Wan and Anakin
7959 - Geonosian Fighter - Ki Adi Mundi (I'm really not happy about this - I want Ki Adi but would never have contemplated buying the fighter
7961 - Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator - Qui Gon Jin, Padme Amadala - would be great but I already have a Sith infiltrator
7964 - Republic Frigate - Eeth Koth, Yoda and Quinlan Vos - ok since I would have bought this set anyway.

I guess we can't blame TLG for marketing it's products this way, but still, I'm on a limited budget here and wonder if perhaps they could have released a minifigure pack instead so I don't end up with sets I don't want. There's always Bricklink or ebay I guess........

@duilim, I think you make a valid point there. But lego are well aware that minifigs drive the sales of these sets, new figures are often placed in more expensive sets to get sales. It's made even worse by the fact that magnet sets will be glued from now on. I have bought 1 or 2 to get figures from sets I simply can't afford, even though they are made of inferior materials. I recently bought the swamp speeder just for Bariss Ofee, I wouldnt normally have bought such an over priced set.

A minifig set would be really good for people on a budget but who want a more complete collection of figures but, alas, I cant see lego doing it as it would reduce the sale of more expensive building sets. Not to mention the whole 'hasbro' issue.

Brickset, I have a question and didn;t know how to get it to you guys. There's a new set 7879, titled Hoth Echo Base. What's your source? Brickipedia has Brickset down as a source, so that didn't help.

Seagull, I think I saw a picture of this set somewhere online, but it is gone. It looked pretty cool. There is a reason that Lego got discountinued the snowtrooper, rebel trooper and echo base sets.

The Fairytale and Historic Minifigure set looks awesome! I would like it, but it is not yet available in Canada.:(
