    I braved the shops this morning in Southampton (at the crack of dawn to avoid the crowds) and can report that both John Lewis and TRU have most of the Ninjago sets in stock. Bizarrely, they are cheaper in TRU than on LEGOshop.com. The single figure packs are 50p cheaper, £6.99 and lemaskdemasque tells me that others are cheaper as well, by up to £2. Duq reports that Smyths in Ireland has them in stock, too.

    I resisted temptation and didn't buy any. The spinner/card packs have the dreaded 'Components made in China...' on the back and peeking through the packaging the minfig legs did appear to be of the tell-tale translucent Chinese type, so that's why I didn't buy those. That's not the case with the boxed sets, though, thankfully, but they didn't really appeal to me, and I'm trying to reduce my LEGO expenditure in 2011 :-)

I found 1 lone Ninjago set on a shelf in a TRU store in Toronto, ON. There was no Price Tag on it, not even on the front of the shelf (where all Price Tags are). Oddly, I found it in a Big open space on the shelf; probably planning to put out the other Ninjago sets?

i like lego: on boxing day i found all of the normal sets execpt for the dojo and all of the spinners at the tru in red deer ab, so i think that your local tru will put the rest out soon, or they are already sold out.

yes, i spotted in TRU & Smyths today, and confirm TRU are only £6.99 for the figure packs compared to £7.49 in Smyths...still a bit pricy for me, but i wasn't going to buy any of these kits, but i am a sucker for design and artwork, and i love it, so i think i may be tempted to buy some of these sets and pop them into my roofspace for next 20 years.

It seems like Lego has gone all in on this Ninjago stuff. To me it looks like a bad bet, but I know that bakugan and beyblades are reasonably popular with the younger set. Time will tell. I would have put out a few sets to test the waters before putting out so many sets, but I am not a business man, so maybe I'm wrong.

Our Target stores in Australia (always expensive at first, then do deep doscounts) had Ninjago on Christmas eve. The starter Ninjago set for a rip off $29AUD and single sets (one minifigure!) for $19AUD. (The price of a Star Wars four minifig and mini ship pack as one comparison) Other stores will sell this more reasonably soon enough so prices will drop.

@Flyguy: hopefully prices will drop! I expect TRU to promote this heavily as they did with the in-store demos for the board Games range earlier this year. This will hopefully equate to some freebies (eg. free keychains following the spend of $XX.XX). Whether or not Ninjago will be quickly adopted by parents/kids will determine how deep the discounts when retailers start applying the "sale" prices.

I just think the packaging is made in China, I got one of these from my uncle who was the guy at the Ninjago Event (He didn't tell me until Christmas). The fig was perfectly fine, but the top (No, not the head, the top they stand on) was Chinese. The game is actually fun though, in case you care, but it might just be me and my brother.

To anyone who owns one of the ninjago figure packs, what are the two 2x1 bricks and the one 2x2 tile for? They look a biit strange there in the pictures...

@voyanui8768 - they have multiple uses in the game. One of the bricks, plus the plate, are used to make a holder for whichever card you have in play. One of the cards, 'shield', lets you put the two bricks on your top to help protect the figure.
