Like the previous Grand Opening exclusives ...

... they will be themed to the location of each store. As to what exactly they are ... I'm not going to spoil the surprise :-)

@Alemas - How about the Tower of London? Or the Palace of Westminster ('Big Ben'/Parliament)? Tower Bridge? London Eye? O2 Arena? Black Cab? Nelson's Column? Trafalgar Square Lions? The Gerkin? Buckingham Palace? Wembley? BT Tower? Coldstream Guard or Beefeater ... there's lots of iconic subjects to chose from ...

All this talk of these great new stores makes me think of something I've shared with the Lego folks several times over the years that's never come to fruition. I've always asked why they couldn't do commemorative Duplo bricks for each store location. Not just for the opening, mind you - but for purchase whenever you were there. When we travel - as we have no Lego stores nearby - we make sure to hit any of the stores along the way. We've been to them literally from coast to coast in the US, and my sons would love to have a travelogue if you will of bricks showing where they've visited. If I ever made it back to London they'd go wild over a London brick! Hopefully someone from Lego will pick up on this at some point and it would be available.

Two UK LEGO Store openings in one week! Fantastic! The chance to acquire two exclusive Grand Opening sets. What a wonderful opportunity. And then of course there are the commemorative opening bricks.

I've already pre-warned my boss that I might need a couple of days annual leave early in the year and I've moveable placeholders in the work annual leave calendar. Cardiff kicking off on a Saturday means I would only need one day for the Westfield Friday.

My wife has previously approved these trips and would most likely come along for the non-LEGO shopping opportunities.

I've saved some money back to spend in both LEGO shops.

What could possibly derail this careful planning?

Oh, I almost forgot, my wife has booked a family holiday in Spain for school half term. Flying out early on the 19th February and flying back late on the 26th. And finally we have a diary commitment on the 27th.

You can't make this stuff up . . . .

Lego seem to have a political bias in the UK against the North of Britain, how about one in our area of the country Lego! :OD

How much (£s) do you have to spend to get the exclusive Lego Grand Opening set if you are one of the first 300 customers?

Posted by MinifigureMan in United Kingdom, 20 Jan 2011 13:02

@buddy: I thought they were just free but apparently you might just need to purchase anything from the store for one. :)
