New Argos catalogue out today

  • New Argos catalogue out today

Posted by Huw, 22 Jan 2011 04:22. Filed under Shopping (UK).

Apart from NinjaGo and the collectable figs there's been a bit of a dearth of 2011 sets on the UK high street. That's all changed today with the release of the new Argos catalogue.

They are stocking all new Atlantis sets, Pharaoh's Quest, the City Space sets and the Technic supercar, 8070, and probably a whole host more. However as I write the LEGO section of their website is a bit broken and many of the links aren't working so it's difficult to tell without going through the whole list.

Update: I've just been down to my branch and secured a super car which is an Argos exclusive, so will be available in it and the brand stores only in the UK.

About time too! Every week I search my local shops without success. Must get some overtime at work, I've got a feeling I'll need the extra cash...

I dont have a catlogue yet but from I have seen online I reckon it will have all the technic, city , star wars , technic and atlantis sets as well as most of the creator and Ninja go.

I could not find much pharoas quest and those that were on there were online exclusives , giving me a hint they may not be in the official catalogue.

No sign of the series 3 minifigures in the online catalogue here in Ireland, I wonder if they'll be getting them at all. Thankfully Smyths toy store have loads in stock anyway. Was hoping for Diagon Alley to appear as an Argos exclusive, ah well!

Huw, you might be in for a disappointment: The "Super Car" has motorised doors, bonnet and spoiler. NO gearbox. It does have steering, all-round suspension and a working V8 engine though. But it's unworthy of the famous "Super Car" name.

BTW, Huw, be sure to review the 8070! :)

In the new Argos catalog, on page 1671, it says that you recieve last year's promotional max minifigure if you sign up to the Lego club using this pdf file: http://www.argos.co.uk/wcsstore/argos/en_US/images/pdf/Argos_Lego_Club.pdf

Huw, The main Bricklink photo for set 7287 LEGO City Police Boat shows four minifigs while this set only comes with three minifigs.

UK resident Harbour and Boat fans, it is worth noting that the 7287 LEGO City Boat set has a RRP of GBP29.99 but Argos is currently selling it for GBP19.99. My guess is that most shops will eventually mark the set down to GBP19.99 even if they start off trying to sell it at GBP29.99.

@TheKing: I wish they had that in the US! I REALLY want one of those Max minifigs!

@NM: suggest you select the "Info" tab and read my comments for the Police Boat set 7287.

Well I got 8070 today, haven't had time to start building it yet. Worth noting that Argos also have the Technic 8068 Rescue Helicopter at only £24.99 (£10 less than S@H), both online and in the catalogue.

There's a Lego minifigure on the cover of the new catalogue, having a look at the new products. :)

@the king: I signed up just to get the figure, I've always wanted him :)

I went to Argos today and picked up a load of minifigures. The shop assistants were happy to help me sort through them ;D

popped in to my local branch today and bought the Bounty hunter assualt dropship , Police Dog unit and a couple of series 3 figs.

I am very pleased to see the Technic copter reduced to only £25 [may get it now] I hope other rival stores will do the same as well. Iam pleased the police boat is only £20 too , eventhough I probably still wont get it , £30 was for too much for only 154 ish pieces.

Got the book today but did not buy any sets. However, I did buy 7286 and 7279 from W.H.Smiths. 7286 was £15.99 and 7279 for £10.99. But don't think I got cheated out of my money, it was buy one get one half price. Anybody near a W.H.Smiths should go and see there collection. I also got 11 Series three figures today. Three doubles, Hula dancer, Tennis player and fisherman(!). Yes, i'm still in shock. Feeling the bags is much easyer than tiny dots.....

@LukeSkywalker - I picked up some from the Argos city centre store in Limerick. They had about half a box. €2.80 like before (€2.50 in Smyths)

Both Smyths and Toymaster in Dublin city centre have Series 3 minifigs in stock - I'm guessing all Smyths Toys outlets nationwide have plenty of stock of them.

I bought three series figures in argos and got a sumo wrestler and two tennis players.

I went to Argos again today and picked up a Samurai minifig and the Technic Helicopter (it's great by the way :D)

@Firox 5000 I was in John Lewis at Liverpool ONE yesterday and they had the new Police Boat for £20 too.

Thanks brickzone, I found series 3 figs in my local argos yesterday, in the section with various random products before you get to the tills. they're 30 cent dearer but at least you dont have to rummage through them in front of the checkout! :) picked up a couple of elves and a half-price pack of toy story soldiers.
