FIFTY DOLLARS? I was never disappointed at all.

I saw this a few days ago, looks pretty good.

This set has been available from US Lego Shop-At-Home for two weeks. It went up January 17 or 18 (when I ordered mine).

Hmm...a price point of about 25-30 USD would be more appropriate. Reminds me of the advent calendar gifts without the calendar part.

Although the cute little dwarf knight is awesome. And the scarecrow is superb. I'm going to have to reverse engineer that...

Too expensive! Some cool parts though, the city one has a GREEN bike!

Posted by AETerry in United States, 01 Feb 2011 15:37

Yeah... this and the Community Workers were too high priced for me. $25-30 would seem more appropriate.

It's tempting to get, there's many good figures in it and some good little builds.

Is the plastic CHEAP-LEGO or TRU-LEGO plastic? Anybody know?

This set has been out for a bit now.. I think it works out to be basically paying 2.50 per figure (if you count the skeletons) so I do not know what all of the fuss is about. You get a bunch of fantasy figures for $50 with a bunch of accessories as well.
I believe that if this is 50 dollars USD that this is Lego plastic. (I have not opened mine yet)
Again the City one is about 2.50 per figure I think.. not bad.. again you get accessories as well.

People really are getting spoiled by sales, I guess.
I mean prices are destined to go up.. sucks, but Plastic is made with Oil.. Oil is getting expensive.. do the math...
Will I be buying 8 of these? No, will I buy one or two for a large grouping of figures for an affordable price? Sure...
Do not worry, More than likely someone will start breaking these up on eBay, but do not be surprised if they are charging 2.50 a figure...

I'd love to get these, but at that price, I'll have to choose only one. Personally, even $40 each would have been acceptable.

Posted by serviceburo in United States, 01 Feb 2011 17:42

That price is pretty decent when you consider the amount of accessories in there as well. The "Build A Mini's" at the brand stores are 3 for $10 and honestly the selection is usually junk - nearly impossible to put together three coherent figures.

Picked this up last weekend at the Lego Store at the Palisades Mall, NY. Very cute, the males and females have different faces from each other. The female head is double sided, unfortunately there is only 1 style male head, 1 style female head. But I guess that's better than the standard grin head for all of them.

Anyone who has purchased, please provide manufacture countries listed on the box. Thanks

It cost about $3.50 a minifigure for the advent calendars, if not more. This is perfectly priced.

I wish it was free, but the price point is fine.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 01 Feb 2011 22:49

Jeez, people are anal about the figures...

The Country information is Components made in Denmark, Hungary, China, Sweden and the Czech Republic
This is only on the Fantasy set, but I am guessing the City set is the same...

I agree w/some above...I usually beeyatch at the prices but 22 figs and accessories for $50.00 is actually a fair price. More accessories and parts than a Collectable Mini-fig which is $3 bucks and obviously better than the uber boring figures from Build a MiniFig (3 for $10.00).

Personally I was very happy with the set, even with the reuse of several torso and only two types of heads (male & reversible female). I took close-up photos of all minifig pairs from the set and posted them on my Flickr last week - http://www.flickr.com/photos/wiredforsound23/tags/9349/

Money is always an issue when I choose to buy a set... and I happen to be one of those who find this set too expensive. That's my opinion though, and I know there are others who can happily pay the price. Given that minifigures are the currency of the Lego community I think it's fair to say any buyer will likely be able to re-sell this set in the future.

Very cute sets, but If I pay that kind of money I'd rather have something less 'simple' looking.

Posted by Berrybrick in United States, 02 Feb 2011 07:18

Anybody have a picture of a torso from one of these sets? I can tell if the minifigures are Chinese made just from that.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 02 Feb 2011 12:11

These are toy sets, guys... Either buy them or don't..

Personally I like these sets.. Are they a bit on the expensive side? I dunno, is $2.50 USD for a minifig with accessories REALLY THAT expensive?! That is what it works out to being for each fig in these sets...

Plus you get mermaids and Mermen an some nifty little accessories in the Fantasy set...
I mean you buy your kid one City set or even the fantasy sets and they are set for minifigs for a while...
that means you can buy these creator houses, most of which have no minifigs and the kids still have the minifigs to use with it..
I have no kids and I bought one anyway as I like the figure section and the accessories.. Is it as nice as the community sets with the ATV's? No, but then again no one bought those either...
I am just glad that Lego is offering a kind of one stop shop for these instead of a 10 dollar 5 pack of minis with limited selection..
Yeah yeah it is 50 bucks, but people seem to forget Lego is a company and needs to make money, and plastic produced from Oil is only going to go up in price. But I guess if Lego goes out of business we can always get Mega Blocks..... Yeah that's what I thought... ;-)

Posted by Juno in United States, 03 Feb 2011 16:04

Its not that expensive because they sell the Lego Minifigures for $3.00 dollars now. So this is not that bad. I think its awesome, but I don't know if I'll get it cuz of all the new Pirates of the Caribbean legos.

Posted by Brickmatic in United States, 04 Feb 2011 04:39

I think it is easy to forget that the printed minifig torso is among the most expensive LEGO parts to produce.
