Series 3 Minifigure Cheat Sheet - Version B

  • Series 3 Minifigure Cheat Sheet - Version B

Posted by yellowcastle, 07 Feb 2011 18:38. Filed under Miscellaneous.

As promised, I've developed a Cheat Sheet for the new dimple / dot patterns on Series 3 Minfigures that I recently found at Target.  As discussed in previous articles and due to the various different "batch codes", it is still unclear how helpful this or any cheat sheet will ultimately be for Series 3 and beyond.

Dope. Looks pretty similar to what I remember seeing, well I can only confirm the elf and mummy on the new cheat sheet. Although I vaguely remember the samurai only having 1 bump on the left side?

I've seen the cheat sheets and this may be a silly question but which side do you read them from the front or the back?

The new minifigs are awosome! I've got the rapper ,fisherman ,hula girl, mummy {2} ,snowboarder{2} ,space bad guy ,baseball player ,samurai ,sumo wrestler ,and racer , though i haven't seen the dots on any of them.{I haven't looked} I still need the chief , ailen , elf , tennis player , and pilot.

@darkmoonlady on the bottom of the back side...
@yellowcastle what do the B's stand for exactly?

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 07 Feb 2011 20:01

@hssky97 - The "B" is part of the "batch code" on the bottom right back side of the wrappers. The Rapper and Elf are nearly identical except that the Rapper has a dimple hidden in the "B" of the "batch code." Additionally, the placement of the lower right dot on each is slightly different but it's just easier to look for the dimple in the "B."

Nice work. By chance does anyone have an extra elf? I have 2 gorilla suits and 2 mummies, if someone wants to trade.

Thanks for the post yellowcastle...good stuff!

Picked up a few more at Target for my son's upcoming birthday party as parting gifts. They had been picked through and only a few were left. I tried to grab as many different dot patterns as I could find without feeling the bags and ended up with 7 packages that appeared to be different at first glance.

Feeling them at home revealed that I had got the following:

2 - mummies
1 - hula girl (which I initially confused for a rapper)
1- tennis player
1 - fisherman
1 - sumo wrestler
1 - rapper

Frankly I was surprised that there was a fisherman and hula girl in the mix. If there had been bar codes, they definitely would have been gone. I guess that's one good thing about not having the bar codes...it is more of a mystery.

The Lego store in Chandler has plenty of Series 3

Wait, what's the difference between the gray dots and the white dots?

Posted by legoguy2805 in United Kingdom, 08 Feb 2011 03:22

The Series 3 packets don't have any dots at all where I live.

And we are still waiting for ours in a few places, like where I am going to buy mine.

Some are slowly trickling in here. Our Wal-Marts have them (2/3 confirmed) but not our Toys R Us. They haven't even got them registered on their computers yet!

@ Topsy Cret - the white dots were meant to indicate that they were fainter and more difficult to see. For the most part, the most difficult dimples to see are those buried in the letter "B" in the batch code.

How do you see the dimples? On the "3"?

@ Swift~: They have 5 boxes of Series 3 in the Wal-Mart near a Cinplex Theater. You won't find the Minifigs in the usual Lego section, but on the back shelves.

For those in Western Canada that has a London Drugs,

Was just at the London Drugs in Calgary Royal Oak and they had two boxes of the series 3 minifigs come in, (no i did not take all the elves) I just rounded out my collection. The lady there said they would have two more boxes in maybe this weekend and they are waiting to see if they get the rest of the boxes in that they ordered. I guess series two sold like hotcakes there.

Keep your eyes peeled for other LD stores to get them, but Royal Oak has two boxes out with more boxes to come. Price is $2.99 per fig.

I just got the fisherman I was after today thanks to this cheat sheet. The dots are fairly hard to see and are just faint indents in the bottom crimp of the packet. I checked the packets of some of the others I have as well, and they seem to match. These batches are all from Target and Big W in Blacktown, Western Sydney (Australia) so you could conclude that the dots are the same across multiple markets.

Thank you very much. Excellent work.

I just opend a case I picked up from John Lewis, Brent Cross and checked using the original cheat sheet. I think it worked perfectly, except about 10 packs were too faint to read the dimples. (I think) there were five Mummies (useful for Pharaoh's Quest) and Aliens (all but one will be going back to the store) but I was disappointed there were only two Samurai (who will be joining my son's Ninjago's). My first attempt at feeling the bags, and it wasn't too bad, though I wouldn't have tried it in store.

Since the dimple code was revised halfway through Series 3, I wonder what dastardly plan TLG will use on Series 4 and 5 ...

Never noticed the 'B' before. Nice to know if you're looking for Elves and Rappers.

Posted by didgeboy in United States, 11 Feb 2011 11:04

Any one still finding these in the USA?

Posted by brixton in Canada, 11 Feb 2011 15:38

I bought six more packs today. I was looking for the fisherman and elf. I ended up with 2 fishermen but no elves. The cheat sheets seem to be too unreliable to rely on.

Found "em at H.E.B. in Texas for $1... Lucky me... bought a bunch and some for my sisters.
