Tech blog Gizmodo has published hi-res pictures of Ninjago, Alien Conquest, Kingdoms and other 2011 sets. I've added some of them here but they are a bit of a nuisance to extract from their site so haven't done them all. If you find any I've missed, by all means send them in.

Some are marked confidential and, assuming they all originated from LEGO, this sends out mixed messages somewhat...

These are nice pictures. Glad you could find them.

Posted by Ypres in Canada, 21 Feb 2011 13:35

Wow, those are some nice pictures... thanks. Really reminds me of just how many sets I've marked as 'must have'. I feel as though I can't miss some of the NinjaGo this time around whereas before I could've cared less. I kinda want that big Alien Conquest set but I'm even low on my imaginary money! The new Kingdoms sets also seem to have surprisingly more character (soul) to them....

Posted by HQuiff in Ireland, 21 Feb 2011 13:43

I'm in love with the Alien Conquest and Castle stuff

Posted by Firox 5000 in United Kingdom, 21 Feb 2011 14:09

The Kingdoms stuff is a must! That also goes for some of the Ninjago sets.

Posted by VonVeederVeld in United States, 21 Feb 2011 14:16

imo ... potc will be fun, haryy potter looks good ... the ewok thing .... kingdoms looks great, especially the mill .... not too interested in alien conquest, but the abduction one has a great minifig and a pitchfork!!!! and the nijago earth dragon is pretty cool....

Posted by legoDad42 in United States, 21 Feb 2011 14:41

Alien Conquest for sure....lotta' fun features on those kits.

Posted by voyanui8768 in United Kingdom, 21 Feb 2011 15:20

The only Alien sets I'll get are the Tripod and the UFO, they're the best ones I think.

@Huw -- You can pull the hi-res images off Gizmodo quite easily if you go to m.gizmodo.com. You won't have to deal with any of that pop-up viewer nonsense. The direct link to the story is: http://m.gizmodo.com/5764194/all-the-best-lego-sets-for-2011

So disappointed about the lack of yellow tinted windows. Why make the sets the same blue colour as the older sets if you aren't going to connect back to the classics?

Posted by brixton in Canada, 21 Feb 2011 15:40

I was going to skip the space stuff and only go after two Alien Conquest sets but the space shuttle looks fairly good in the newest photo. What modular house? I love the modular houses! Green Grocer is great and I'm hoping to get Grand Emporium this year. I'm disappointed that they're aren't any hi-res photos of Hillside House.

Speaking of 2011 sets, I noticed Eurobrick staff has a box of series 4 and have a small contest to win 1 of 4 packs, Since the figs are obviously being produced already I wonder if this means we'll see another early release?

Posted by daniel c. in United States, 21 Feb 2011 16:34

Lol, some of those comments on Gizmondo are hilarious. I think the guy who wrote that article is the only one who is actually disapointed that TLC gave us civilian medival sets instead of just another castle. :P

Posted by OhioBobcat555 in United States, 21 Feb 2011 16:49

Hey guys... I try to keep up with all of this but don't do so well. I have all the previous modular buildings. Can anyone help me with this? Has anyone heard if another one will be released in 2011 or sometime soon? Also, I have noticed that there seems to be around 450 sets released each year lately but Brickset has shown that more than 100 less may be released this year? What's going on? Any input would help me out greatly. Cheers.

Is the Kingdoms carriage set *really* $50?? That's insane...

Posted by Cam'n'Stu in United Kingdom, 21 Feb 2011 17:56

Loving that 8110 Mercedes-Benz Unimog in the comments!

Posted by jarom_moroni in United States, 21 Feb 2011 19:14

Why is the King out fighting the bad guys alone? And whats with the fish??

Posted by 18000pieces in United States, 21 Feb 2011 19:31

I've been trying to add some useful information across the board. All of it is straight from the toy fair.

Posted by QwertyLEGO in United States, 21 Feb 2011 21:01

im getting all of the alien conquest! :)

"Some are marked confidential and, assuming they all originated from LEGO, this sends out mixed messages somewhat..."

Haha! You're assuming Gizmodo is acting with some degree of ethics and not lifting the pics from some other source that shouldn't have had them.

Ahhh - the new Castle sets are such a breath of fresh air from TLG... as is the Earth Defense HQ. But for all the goodness of those sets, the crazy amount of stickers (and on curved pieces too) in the alien sets is a HUGE let down. Expected, but sooo disappointing.

Posted by Seagull in United States, 21 Feb 2011 22:41

No Harry Potter!!! :,(

Posted by Roketah in Australia, 22 Feb 2011 00:08

I wont all alien conquest sets im distipointed by ningago but im just happy that lego did'dt do to it wat they did to power miner.....skrew with there out fits...

Posted by Zordboy in Australia, 22 Feb 2011 02:49

I love the new Ninjago dragons, but I'll probably only get the Earth Dragon 'cause the fire dragon comes with the giant temple. The Earth Dragon looks like a giant frill-neck lizard, though, so much love there.

Also, mad love for both blacksmith shops, the Ninja and Castle ones.

Lots of stickers for the alien sets, but look at the little one-eyed green aliens!

Also, something I noticed -- they've got a picture of the Advent Calendar for 2011, and it looks like it's *just* another extension of the police theme. The larger pieces (a whole, yet small, building, and a little car) are okay, but it's too much of the one thing, I think.

HALLELUJAH!!! TRANS-CLEAR VISORS ARE HERE!!! WAHOOOOOOO!!! PETER REID (aka legoloverman; owner of an impossible number of trans-clear visors), REJOICE! NO MORE EXTORTIONATE BRICKLINK PRICES!!! Sorry for being over-excited. :)

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 22 Feb 2011 04:50

On a more serious note, is Grahame alright? I heard a 6.5 magnitude earthquake has hit Christchurch, and there are deaths...

EDIT: Phew, Grahame is online! :)

Posted by Silvertongue in Canada, 22 Feb 2011 05:41

I love the new Alien conquest stuff . Especially the Earth defense hq and that Ninjago Dragon set is epic but i don't like the look of the new harbor sets too simple ... dissapointing :( oh well lots of other cool Lego out this year

Posted by Rubber Mongoose in United Kingdom, 22 Feb 2011 10:07

Those Ninjago and Alien Conquest sets are just beautiful. My wallet will hurt as this year progresses...

Posted by pop3465 in United States, 22 Feb 2011 12:46

These are nice,I like the alien conquiest their nice, but the ninjago temple will have to wait because I can barly afford anthing 99.99,119.99 is outragis! My wallit will die of money hunger if I get the sets that I think are nice!

Posted by MisterGeolix814 in United States, 22 Feb 2011 13:13

anything new on hero factory?

BULK 3.0 IS AWESOME

Posted by freeze992 in United States, 22 Feb 2011 15:45

@Zordboy: That building in the Advent Calendar is modular, if I'm not mistaken. That would be really disappointing if each part was in a different day.

Posted by Ypres in Canada, 22 Feb 2011 17:47

Alright more pictures! Is it just me or is the Alien Mothership using curved train tracks as the circular disk?!

Posted by Jayr17 in United States, 22 Feb 2011 19:50

I am a little disappointed in the City sets for 2011 as a whole. We were excited to hear they were doing some water themed sets, but now that we see the rainbow colored Harbor set with way too little pier and what looks more like a barge than a boat I think I will pass. The Marina seems to have no boats! A rental store and life guard stand does not equal a marina... how about a small sailboat TLG?
About the only one I see myself getting now is the Lighthouse island. Maybe the Hillside House and the Modular building will renew my faith in TLG, but so far I am discappointed in 2011.

Posted by legoDad42 in United States, 22 Feb 2011 22:45

@Jayr17....I see the reason why they have no boats for The Marina kit. Lego wants you to buy those 3 other boats...the power boat, fishing boat, etc....sold separately 'natch...;) I agree with ya'. One boat in the set would've been nice.

Posted by beefygrefe in United States, 22 Feb 2011 23:40

@Jayr17 and legoDad42 - The NY Toy Fair pictures of the Marina kit had a big blue boat like the ones in in 7726 and 7213. I'd like to hope that its still a part of the set but I'm a little disappointed that it isn't a part of the 'official image.' I'd still bet that it comes with this blue boat.

Over at fbtb, they did a great job of covering the toy fair (it was an earlier news item on brickset). Here's a link to their photo stream on flickr with all of their coverage:

Or better yet, here's a direct link the Marina pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/fbtbnet/5442783601/in/set-72157625917565175/

@HQuiff: i'm in love with bulk 3.0

Posted by DwarfSleepy in Netherlands, 24 Feb 2011 06:06

And what do you guys think of the "new" set discussed on eurobricks: 3677, a new cargo train. Is it a real new 2011 set, or a MOC? http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=52213

Posted by MinifigureMan in United Kingdom, 24 Feb 2011 06:36

@DwarfSleepy, I saw that too and have you guys seen the 2 new SW magnets that are apparently early? Anakin(Parka), Talz Chieftain and Clone Pilot(possibly Jag) and Clone Pilot, TIE Fighter Pilot(from V-wing) and Ben Kenobi(Old Obi-Wan). Also a Boba and Cad Bane keyring.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 24 Feb 2011 07:41

^^ I've read the claims that 3677 is an official set, but I'm not so sure myself. Two freight trains in two years is unprecedented and I can't imagine last year's sold so well that LEGO feel the need to produce another.

But I'll be glad to be proved wrong...

Posted by Death Watch in United States, 24 Feb 2011 09:34

@ Huw- I hope your hunch is wrong. As much as I want another train, it's unlikely.

Posted by natro220 in United States, 24 Feb 2011 13:07

Does anyone know what is on top of the little shack attached to the lighthouse? I can't tell if it's some kind of animal or something...

Posted by natro220 in United States, 24 Feb 2011 13:09

Nevermind...taking a 2nd (or 3rd?) look, I see it is a seagull with a fish in its mouth! too funny...

Posted by legohpcity in Sweden, 26 Feb 2011 09:01

@ Huw- That cargo train is real and will come out in August.

Posted by pop3465 in United States, 26 Feb 2011 21:04

Hmm,I could use a cargo train....
