The discount retailer Five Below is now carrying both Series 2 and 3 Collectible Minifigures. Their normal price will be $3.99 but both series are $2.99 this week. At our local store, I found two S2 boxes and about six S3 boxes. Also, they were selling several polybags including the Creator Jeep (7803), X-Wing (30050), World Racers Jet Ski (30031), Atlantis Octopus (30040), and Atlantis Mini Sub (30042). Each polybag was $3.99.

Those aren't really the best prices...

Posted by cjg in United States, 20 Mar 2011 16:45

^Unless there are Spartans in the S2!

Posted by Jarod98 in United Kingdom, 20 Mar 2011 16:51

I never bought any of the Collectible Minifigures, but now may be my time to get some!

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 20 Mar 2011 16:56

It's MSRP for S3. Additionally, it is a great opportunity for those still trying to complete their S2 collection, especially since Borders is really the only retail option left and at $3.99 each.

I got a Spartan at my 5 Below.

Posted by Unknown User2596 in United States, 20 Mar 2011 17:15

Speaking of Borders, how can you tell if they have *any* S2 left?

The only store that hasn't closed yet is the one in Sunnyvale (near the TRU I usually go to) but online search doesn't mention anything of it...

Posted by rainstorm26 in United States, 20 Mar 2011 18:23

TRU was 2.99 BOGO 50% yesterday

Posted by crazyawesomeyeah in United States, 20 Mar 2011 18:43

well! good thing i have a 5 below near me.....

Posted by didgeboy in United States, 20 Mar 2011 19:30

What is a 5 below??

Posted by Anomaly24 in United States, 20 Mar 2011 20:21

A store that sells a lot of items that have been on clearance or overstocked at other stores; the "Five Below" name is because the maximum price of any item is $5.

In the past they've had things like Bionicle and the big Knights Kingdom figures for $5, polybag sets, and <$10 sets. They've had them at a discount before, but seem to be having them at original price lately.

Similarly, Tuesday Morning has overstock items with a range of prices, usually at 50% of original retail; in the past they've had things like the $100 Batcave set for half-price. Not as much, anymore... I'm guessing they may have gotten these from LEGO in the past, but now LEGO does a better job of clearing their overstock through their brand stores and online.

I got a Spartan at 5 below... Me and some random lady spent a half our scanning barcodes of every figure with our iPhones... It was pretty funny.

Posted by Jarod98 in United Kingdom, 20 Mar 2011 23:12

@Kotton - Was that "random lady" a sales clerk?

Unknown User2596: My Borders is open and not closing. They still have tons of Series 2, they label them and let you pick the ones you want, ad set aside s full-set of 16 if you want to buy them.

Posted by voypro in United States, 20 Mar 2011 23:44

Well some one let me know if they start selling them at a store called "2 below"

I think it is a mistake to consider our selves lucky to "still find these", I see this as OLD STORE STOCK that did not sell, not a second chance! Let us all remember that TLG conceived of entire minifig project estimating they would make their standard profit at a $1.49 suggested retail price. I hardly feel fortunate to find them at twice their original SRP... at a discount store no less. Boxes are available on ebay much cheaper than at $3 x 60. I guess it is a good last chance to easily cherry pick boxes with a bar code reader.

BTW If TLG reads this... I dropped from 5 sets per series of ser 1,2,3 to 1 set of series 4; it is one set per series for me here on out, $2.99 is too steep.

@Voypro - I myself bought a couple of S2 minifigs at Five Below so I'm very happy that I still have commercially available options even though we're already up to S4. We did have it great at $1.99 for S1 but I think $2.99 is not entirely unreasonable. I reserve the right to change my mind on that, though. ;o)

@Unknown User 2596 - Unfortunately, you have to call Borders in order to confirm their Lego set availability at your local stores. It's well worth it, though, as the twice weekly coupons they provide work out pretty well for Lego sets, even when you take into account the crazy Borders markup.

@Kotton - We did indeed receive a call from your TRU asking us to ask you to stop pestering them. J/K :o)

Hahaha...

It is unfortunate that Five Below has also gone up to $2.99. Back when S2 came out they had them for $1.99 when Target was $2.99. I guess there is little advantage to going to Five Below now, aside from availability.

Nice!

Posted by Unknown User2596 in United States, 21 Mar 2011 14:53

Thanks for the info. Anyone know the whatever number(UPC, DPCI, SKU) for S2 in Borders?

(oh and does Barnes and Noble sell S2 as well? I heard a few reports but no luck online.)

Posted by Ezekiel Scarecrow in United States, 21 Mar 2011 15:10

I went to (my) Borders yesterday, they don't have series 2 anymore.

Posted by copperwonder96 in United States, 21 Mar 2011 15:53

Series 1 parts coming back this summer. This may or may not be relevant, i was at the Brand Store today and got some cool new and hard to find torsos and heads from the build a minifig display. The sales person mentioned they will be receiving some series 1 torsos, legs and heads for the minifig builder this summer. He said the hair/hat pieces would be limited though. So look forward to that.

Posted by crazyawesomeyeah in United States, 21 Mar 2011 17:29

@ copperwonder: when do u think they'll receive the series 1 parts?

Posted by Sword2211 in United States, 21 Mar 2011 17:54

Unfortunaly that would make my saved up series 1's less valuable. :|

Posted by RedBrickMarket in United States, 21 Mar 2011 18:24

Please understand that I do not promote my own items for only one reason... they are also a better deal. :D
Just if you guys happen to want lower prices, although I'd recommend BrickLink myself.

Posted by broomhandle in United States, 22 Mar 2011 11:02

can anybody confirm that borders or BN has S2? i have not found anything in CA. S1 and S2 were gone before it even went to the shelves. I have 1 S1.... :)

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 22 Mar 2011 18:24

@ broomhandle - As far as U.S. retail stores go, you're probably stuck with Borders or Five Below for any remaining S2.

Posted by moloko in United States, 23 Mar 2011 06:59

Stopped by Five below in my area and they do have S2 and S3. S2 is pretty much picked over with only witches, cops, and egyptians. lots and lots of S3 but I already have so many I did not want more.

Posted by copperwonder96 in United States, 27 Mar 2011 15:42
