Dino Island minifigs added to Adventurers gallery

  • Dino Island minifigs added to Adventurers gallery

Posted by Huw, 26 Mar 2011 13:29. Filed under Brickset.

I've added the minifigs that first made an appearance in the 2000 Adventurers Dino Island sets to the Adventurers minifig gallery.

I've also added all known names for the characters which, as we've been discussing in the comments, changed over time and were different in different countries. I'm indebited to the Adventurers.dk website and also Dorling Kindersley's 'The LEGO Book' for the information (and those that told me to look at them).

I've also given Achu his cape: I think you'll like his picture better now :-)

    Just Orient Expedition to go...

Cool! Achu's cape looks awesome. You did a great job, thanks!

It's very relieving to have the names cleared up once and for all!

Nice work! I did notice a few "typos", however. Alexis Sinister is spelled, "Alexis SAnister." Also, Mr. Cunningham is like so: "Mr Cunningham." This is inconsistent, considering "Mr. Hates", for example, has a period; also, a period is the conventional way of doing it. Lastly, on "senor", it doesn't have the, err...breathing mark (?), like so: señor.

Hope this helps. God bless.

Thanks again for another great gallery, Huw! What are you going to do after OE?

Posted by SJPlego in United States, 26 Mar 2011 14:46

Glad to see alternate names listed. This was what I was suggesting all along!

I do agree with Crushmaster that the typos need to be fixed. Change Alexis Sanister to "Alexis Sinister" (the majority of sources I've seen refer to her as such; for example, in "Standing Small"), "Mr Cunningham" to "Mr. Cunningham", and "Senor Palomar/Senor Gomez" to "Señor Palomar/Señor Gomez".

Awesome gallery! I own pretty much all these figs, but I don't have the sets. Its a pity I don't, because they were the best of 1990s themes. Keep up the great work, Huw!

In the 2000 UK catalogue, Alexis and Sam are spelt SAnister so I've added that as an alternative for both of them and made the other changes.

Love it! Looks awesome! How long will it be before the OE ones will be up?

I´m sorry, but i have to add that Harry Cane was also named Billy Speed in Germany.
And thanks for another great gallery!

I'm looking forward to Orient Expedition, as that was the only Adventurers subtheme I had all the minifigures from. In my opinion it has the most interesting minifigures, with all the natives and variations of clothes.
I have to say, the gallery got rather messy with all the different names, but I suppose it's necessary...

I loved the Dino Island theme. The sea-plane, as well as the little Island Racer, were both such gorgeous vehicles, and they look great in a town setting. The dinosaur models weren't brilliant ... (except for the baby T-rex, who was adorable) ... but I liked that it was a step in the right direction, because soon after, we started getting some really awesome dinosaur lego sets, so yeah.

Top yellow box reads "every minifig from 1998 and 1999 sets". Needs updating.

Hey, Huw, when will you do Power Miners, Atlantis, Agents, And Gear Minifigs? Also, are you ever going to do Dacta??

Posted by Berrybrick in United States, 27 Mar 2011 08:34

Is showing the back of Achu's cape a sign that future minifigures with double-sided heads/torsos will have a similar photo?

Posted by vynsane in United States, 27 Mar 2011 09:25

Wow, they had that many different names? That's a bit ridiculous.
