PotC in TRU already?

  • PotC in TRU already?

Posted by Huw, 19 Apr 2011 14:18. Filed under Shopping (UK).

burakki62 has commented in the article below that PotC sets are available in some TRU branches in the UK already. I'm mentioning it here as a separate article because dermott47 emailed to say that in his branch he saw them getting ready for a 3-for-2 offer which runs until the weekend after Easter.

If you find a branch with PotC sets AND that offer, do let us know!

Update: Mr_Le_Pook writes "Toys R' Us in Chester had shipping boxes of 'Pirates of the Carribean' Lego in the aisles this afternoon which had stickers saying 'Do not put on shelves until after April 15th'. I asked customer services if they were for sale and was told that they were.

"I took a 'Fountain of Life' set to the tills and was then told that they could not sell it yet. After a chat with the manager for clarification and several calls to head office I was allowed to buy the set for £19.99 (probably due to my disappointed looking son being with me).

"It seems there was some confusion across Europe about the actual release date, but the impression I was given was that the sets would be on the shelves and available for purchase tomorrow! The sets I saw were 'Fountain etc., The ship, London escape and The Fort'"

Toys 'r us in Chester has POTC sets and a 3 for 2 offer on some stuff in store but not sure if the offer is on the POTC Lego.

Has anyone seen the Watford branch?

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 19 Apr 2011 14:57

Any in the Brighton branch?

Posted by s_alvyn10 in United Kingdom, 19 Apr 2011 15:01

Just coming back from local store. Sets on sale tomorrow 3 for 2!

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 19 Apr 2011 15:35

The TRU website is showing 3 for 2 on a number of products, but I can see no mention of LEGO at the moment. It would certainly be great to be able to get 3 for 2 on these sets the day they appear, however, so fingers crossed....

Posted by Pantboy in United Kingdom, 19 Apr 2011 15:49

i was in the tamworth store this evening, buying some series 4 mini figuers for my sons easter basket (bought an 8015 assasins droid battle pack which they had back in stock too) and there was no sign of any POTC sets or 3 for 2 offers, will have to go back tomorrow now, how sad ;)

Posted by Matthew in United Kingdom, 19 Apr 2011 16:02

^ I don't suppose they had 8014 too?

Posted by Pantboy in United Kingdom, 19 Apr 2011 16:09

^ no, and believe me i checked right to the back of the shelves, they did have 7752 count dooku's solar sailer though, not seen that one in store before, only ever online

Posted by bodybomb3 in United Kingdom, 19 Apr 2011 16:19

CapnRex101: I'm going to the lego store tomorrow and maybe the toys r us. I'll keep you posted as I heard rumours the Lego store already have them. I've seen the prices and I'm not impressed but none the less I will still buy them.

Posted by DrathMaul1997 in United Kingdom, 19 Apr 2011 16:24

If only I had money....

Does having a disappointed-looking son always help so much? Hmm, I may not be able to talk on the forum, but perhaps my youngness could help here...

*Evil laughs*

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 19 Apr 2011 16:28

@bodybomb3 - Many thanks for that, I have the same plan on Friday!

Posted by bodybomb3 in United Kingdom, 19 Apr 2011 16:34

@CapnRex101 - I really hope they have them but I have known that particular branch of Toys R Us to be very disappointing when it comes to stocking new releases

Posted by bodybomb3 in United Kingdom, 19 Apr 2011 16:41

Update, I just checked amazon.co.uk to find out of curiosity that all the sets have been stated to be in stock on 21 April which is sooner than the original date of May 3 so thats good to know I will get them soon even if they don't have them at the Lego Store.

Posted by Jayko543 in United States, 19 Apr 2011 17:33

My lowly Local Meijer had them . . .

Posted by its grant in Canada, 19 Apr 2011 18:15

anyone seen them in canada yet

Posted by jackmcar99 in United States, 19 Apr 2011 19:29

one of my local lego stores(downtown disney CA) has ever single POTC set, the lady said she didnt know when they had gotten them in, but it appeared almost if they hadnt been seen yet, multiple of every set, I only got the captains cabin, and the box was SOSOSOSOSSOOSOSOSOSOSO unbelievably small, like the size of two collectable minifigures packets side by side, anyways the sets AMAZING!!!! love the ships in the bottles, and the GLOBE :)

Posted by legofanatic2414 in United States, 19 Apr 2011 19:50

Does Wal-mart have them yet?

Posted by teal93mr2 in United States, 19 Apr 2011 20:35

I was at my local lego store today and they had just about every POTC set. I was going to get the Captain's Cabin until I saw it was $11.99! Sorry but that's just too much money for such a tiny set.

Posted by otter in Canada, 19 Apr 2011 20:47

Just checked out on Toys R Us Canada website, all the PotC sets are available for pre-order.

Posted by s_alvyn10 in United Kingdom, 20 Apr 2011 04:18

Just got the QAR from local TRU( purley way)

Posted by Hob in United Kingdom, 20 Apr 2011 05:39

checked my local TRU in bristol (we have 2) and they don't have them out on shelfs didn't ask anyone though.
Will try Cribbs if i'm out that way.

Posted by Bricknation.com in United Kingdom, 20 Apr 2011 06:20

Just out of curiosity got someone at Tesco to check their system hoping for some good news like with Ninjago last year appearing in stores over a month early. No luck this time - they have all the POTC sets there with a note - not on sale untill 11/9/11!!!

Posted by Jabba the Taff in United Kingdom, 20 Apr 2011 06:23

3 for 2 offer at TRU now showing online.

Pasting a link won't work for some reason :(

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 20 Apr 2011 07:21

^ Yes, and it confirms LEGO is included http://www.toysrus.co.uk/browse/product/lego, but it only runs until Monday.

Posted by timberlake29 in United States, 20 Apr 2011 08:25

Hob, cribbs don't have them either yet, no sign of then pitting them out anywhere either

Posted by avacadoturban in United Kingdom, 20 Apr 2011 09:24

Huw, you might be interested to know that the new POTC sets are being unpacked as I type at TRU Poole! 3 for 2 on LEGO as well!

Posted by scottwb2010 in United Kingdom, 20 Apr 2011 12:19

Toysrus in Dundee have PoC in stock and have the the 3 for 2 offer. They also had the new creator house. Between trus and Argos atleast some decent offers in the uk at long last.

Posted by bodybomb3 in United Kingdom, 20 Apr 2011 12:36

I've just been to the Brighton lego store and it seems they don't have PotC in stock, I asked an employee and he said the release date was May 1st. In the end I didn't get round to going to toys r us but I hope to soon

Posted by Jonny 2 Scarves in United Kingdom, 20 Apr 2011 13:51

To the UK people who have already bought some PotC sets - how much did they cost? Were they the same price as the RRPs on Amazon? Thanks. (PS I am in the UK despite my computer thinking I'm in the USA).

Posted by penfolduk in United Kingdom, 20 Apr 2011 13:51

Can confirm Plymouth TRU have them in stock and available to buy now

Posted by Jabba the Taff in United Kingdom, 20 Apr 2011 13:54

The London Escape was £46.99 so slightly cheaper than Amazon. Isle de Muerta £19.99; Fountain of Youth £19.99; Cannibal Escape £26.99 or £25.99; Captain's Cabin £10.49, Whitecap Bay £71.99, Queen Anne £102.99. I bought Isle de Muerta and Fountain of youth. Cracking sets!

The Mill wasn't in my TRU, is it an exclusive for somewhere??

Posted by marcbowyer001 in United Kingdom, 20 Apr 2011 15:43

TRU Hayes had them this evening and they were in the buy 2 get the 3rd free promotion. Be careful what order you pay for them in though so you can maximise your discount as its the cheapest item free.

Posted by thesinisterpenguin in United Kingdom, 20 Apr 2011 16:37

They are all available on Amazon.co.uk as well now, despite pre-orders stating 3rd May.

Posted by legoman98 in United Kingdom, 20 Apr 2011 16:56

@Jabba the Taff what TRU was that you couldn't find it in? I had the same trouble at my local TRU In Tamworth but my dad managed to get to Derbys TRU and he said they were not on the shelves but he phoned in hand an they were waiting for him at customer services

Posted by Jabba the Taff in United Kingdom, 20 Apr 2011 17:11

@legoman98 - Stoke Festival Park. Thanks, nice to know The Mill is available at TRU, how much is it?

Posted by Hob in United Kingdom, 21 Apr 2011 02:59

timberlake29 thank you for the heads up re Cribbs, no wasted trip for me. Will look in Bris again soon and update. The wife really wants a Jack minifig.

Posted by legoman98 in United Kingdom, 21 Apr 2011 03:00

@Jabba the Taff it was £40.99. Glad to be of help :-)

Posted by bodybomb3 in United Kingdom, 21 Apr 2011 05:37

Currently the lego shop online isn't available so I'm sensing they are posting the PotC sets now. If you got to the normal lego homepage UK and go to the bottom you'll see it says "Whitecap Bay.......Shop Now"! Check it out for yourselves

Posted by lukehankenobi in United Kingdom, 21 Apr 2011 06:30

TRU in Brighton said not yet. Hopefully they'll come out before the offer runs out on Monday

Posted by James Skywalker in United Kingdom, 21 Apr 2011 08:31

No POTC in TRU Swansea, but the 3 for 2 offer is on and the shelves are loaded with sets.

Posted by lukehankenobi in United Kingdom, 21 Apr 2011 09:21

I'm off to Brighton, can't wait. Not on the shelves yet but i have been given the nod

Posted by lukehankenobi in United Kingdom, 21 Apr 2011 10:46

Just got back, and I can confirm that Brighton TRU have all the sets on 3for2 offer. They are just going on the shelves now. Cannibal Escape is £26.99

Posted by Jammiedodger714 in United Kingdom, 21 Apr 2011 14:19

Posted by myoulton in United Kingdom, 21 Apr 2011 16:47

^ Jammiedodger714 yes they are in stock at TRU at cross point multiples of all sets in stock at close tonight :)

Posted by Jammiedodger714 in United Kingdom, 22 Apr 2011 11:59

^Thankyou so much! Got the four smallest ones, and some are reviewed on Eurobricks.com already. :)
Still plenty left there if anyone is interested!

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 22 Apr 2011 12:45

The problem comes when people start bringing someone's disappointed looking son with them to TRU, not necessarily their own...

Posted by legover in United Kingdom, 22 Apr 2011 14:49

TRU Merry Hill have POTC sets and 3for2 offer on. I only could afford to buy one 'Captain's cabbin' set 4191 though. My wife says that I must tidy my room before I can have any more. :-(

Posted by avacadoturban in United Kingdom, 23 Apr 2011 09:37

Between TRU Southampton and TRU Poole I've picked up a Captain's Cabin, Isle De Muerta, Aqua De Vida, and London Escape (along with 4 Clone and 1 Mandalorian BPs). I never intended to but the POTC sets, but they're just so darn appealing (and on the 3for2 offer as well). Now, I need to put an extension on the house :l

Posted by legover in United Kingdom, 23 Apr 2011 16:36

Ah! I ment 'Cabin' (Note to self: Proof read.....) By the way, Sainsbury's have 25% off all toys atm.

Posted by Starstreak in United States, 27 Apr 2011 02:38

Yeah, go buy the Queen Anne's Revenge. It's "only" $152.99 in Hawaii.
