Update to the Space minifig gallery

  • Update to the Space minifig gallery

Posted by Huw, 14 May 2011 16:54. Filed under Brickset.

It's been a while since I added any new images to the minfig gallery. I'll be adding PotC and Alien Conquest in the next week or so, but today, as a warmup to tackling those and to check my equipment and processes, I've added five images of the original classic space figures to the Space minifig gallery.

I am indebted to legoloverman for lending me his best minfigs to photograph as I don't actually own them myself. Thanks Pete! :-)

Great pictures, but they have come out all mixed up and at different angles in the wrong years with a blue background...

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 14 May 2011 17:18

Not here they haven't, you'll have to send me a screenshot, huw at brickset.com

My pleasure, Huw. The pictures look wicked!

Cool! Just yesterday I was navigating the gallery and felt sorry that the only minifigures not photographed were the Space Classic figs!!! Thanks!

I really think that Cars 2 deserves a minifig gallery, despite it's lack of actual figs. The cars' decorations vary from set to set and they are, after all, characters, like minifigs have always been.

Can't wait for those PotC and AC pics! The pics here rock though, I really have taken into consideration buying some mint ones and putting them in those minifig cases and this makes me want them more.

Great to see the return of the minifig galleries. I was starting to worry they were a one and done deal. Thanks a lot Huw and keep up the great work!

<3 LEGO space. Great pictures

These figures are just the best. I would kill for a mint set of the first and second series, or better yet pull them out of mint in box vintage sets and be the first to assemble them....ahhhgggaaa (insert drooling sound here)

I don't have the screen shots but I concur @Doctor Leg O'brick that the nice pictures are scattered and in a blue background.

I don't have any problems whit wrong backgrounds/pictures...
(IE 9, Chrome).

^^ What browser/OS are you using? Try pressing ctrl-F5 to grab the latest stylesheets.

Tried it...I guess it's my browser. I'm still using IE 8. I'm one of those stubborn fools who don't like to get rid of something that's outdated as long as it works fine...until this, of course!

Nice pictures! I managed to pick up a mint(ish) original yellow space man from a car boot sale for £1! I was very pleased with myself :)
I think it would be a very good idea to start putting the brickset logo (the 3 coloured tiles) in the corner of each of the images as it would finish them off nicely and would show who produced them.
As others have said, this minifigure gallery is all over the place for me too. It might be to do with the internet browser or the size of our screens, but I'm not sure.

The same case has happened to me as well as Docter Leg O' Brick. Also, in the Harry Potter minifig gallery the pictures appear to be scattered around the page and are on a green background - the same case as the updated space gallery! These minifigure photos are fantastic but the way they appear on (my) computer spoils them a bit.

EDIT: I've just checked all of the Minifigure Galleries and the "scattered effect" is on all of them! (licenced and non-licenced minifigures)

Well, I don't think my computer can take a screen shot, and I don't even know what browser I'm using, sounds like I have IE 8, but I know I'm using Windows 97/98. I get it in every gallery, I noticed it in March when I was going through the Spider-Man gallery, then PQ, then Space... I did send an E-Mail to Huw about this a month or so ago. When I refresh, its the same thing.

EDIT:TheKingOfBuilding, you get a nice blue background if you don't own or want anything, or you get a green or pink background if you own (green) or want (pink) anything. And its spreading what ever it is, when I go onto a set, I have a massive green bar if I own it and a massive pink bar if I want it...

EDIT 2: Its not working Huw, I have a button that has "Print Screen SysRq" and followed everything you said...

^ Press ctrl-PrtSc, then in an empty email I think you can then paste it using Ctrl-V

I've viewed in IE7, IE9, FireFox 4, Chrome, Safari and iPad and it all looks good to me.

@TheKingOfBuilding: I wonder why you see a green background...brickset has always been blue.

I've just tried:
- ie9, FF 4, Chrome 12, Opera 11 & Safari 5 on Win 7.
- Safari 5 & FF 3.6 on OSX 10.6
- FF 4 on Ubuntu 11.04
- Android Browser (on 2.2 & 3)
- Safari on iOS
All rendered fine.

I've just had the pleasure of building a mint mint Galaxy Commander I got from eBay last week and as with the entire set the minifigs are like new. What a special time it was for Lego...!!!

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 15 May 2011 06:30

Pics look just fine and dandy on Safari !

Many thanks to Huw and Pete for these - Classic Space was probably my first real LEGO love (and judging by eBay prices on the old sets I'm not alone....) so it's lovely to see the minifigs in mint condition. I really need to snag a blue one of these guys.....

Posted by krklint in United States, 15 May 2011 13:32

My childhood LEGO days were 1976-84. Classic Space was (thanks to Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers) my favorite LEGO series. I have never seen the Black classic space LEGO minifig until today!

Thanks HUW, I just had amazing flashbacks of playing with space LEGO, building 2 foot long starships, in my parent's living room. Now to hunt down a black Classic Space mini fig :) (if that is even possible?)

Posted by Zacherano in United States, 15 May 2011 13:55

These pictures look fantastic on Mozilla Firefox 4! Thanks Huw!

Posted by Markey in Belgium, 15 May 2011 15:44

@Krklint Black space men aren't that rare, they sell on ebay quite often.
I really miss the old classic legoland space sets!

Posted by TheKingOfBuilding in United Kingdom, 15 May 2011 16:44

@ Orthobotrex: The green area extends from the imformation box (altough I dought it is ment to) that says *These minifigure galleries are not to be used elsewhere apart from Brickset...* and *Show all minifigures before colour change in 2004* and so.

Posted by krklint in United States, 15 May 2011 17:12

@Markey, I agree. especially the triangular shaped pieces with the small cut-out at the angled corner... and the lunar base plates that were raised on one side like a moon-scape :) Glad to see that the new space buggy is a flashback to those classic sets :) now off to find me a black classic space guy.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 15 May 2011 17:53

^^ Someone who knows how to do so is going to have to send me a screenshot, else, to coin a phrase often used here, it didn't happen...

Posted by Orthobotrex in Philippines, 15 May 2011 18:51

^^^I guess there are different problems from different users. Maybe those are just isolated incidents that affect only very few people.

@Huw: took a screenshot...wouldn't attach to my e-mail so I took an actual photo (still not tech savvy, I'm afraid)...e-mail sent.
