In celebration of the release of Jack in his boat (30131) today, I've started work on the PotC minifig gallery!

I've added the four variants of Jack Sparrow (Voodoo doll one to follow) and will be drip-feeding the other characters over the next few days. I'm going to photograph front and back this time, so it'll take a little longer.

    I hope you like 'em!

Just so the people who didn't pre-order the game know toysrus is still giving away the Voodoo doll figure when you purchase the game! I will be buying the game and purchasing another figure on thursday! SO EXCITED!!!!

I think it is worth repeating and applauding the massive pain staking process that setting up the camera / studio apparatus that it takes to pull off professional images like these.

So that those who missed it the first time, would you please again share the photo that showed of the camera & lighting setup?

The galleries work on Firefox, Goggle Chrome and Safari on my Ipod, but not Internet Explorer :/ Don't know what's going on!

EDIT: Yay! The three tiles are on the images :)

@voypro, it's here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hmillington/5355493252/in/set-72157622329075437. I'll get round to writing a tutorial one day!

Huw, I picked this up over the weekend at TRU. The Jack figure that comes with it looks different than all the other variants so far.

^ Oh dear :-(

Just get the brown jacket with normal head and hair. ;) Great work so far Huw, you are a master photographer, can't wait to see the rest of them!

Huw, I think you need to change the number of sets the Jack Sparrow minifigure with the tricorne hat comes in. It comes in 4 sets not 3, if you include #30131.

^ That'll update itself automatically when I next import the BrickLink minifig data.

Posted by vamproe in United States, 16 May 2011 13:34

@ refriedbeans the TRU in Appleton will not do this, I asked if they were giving away anything with the purchase of the POTC games....only if you preordered was the reply.

Posted by vpustote in United States, 16 May 2011 13:39

@vamproe, so pre-order it. My Toyrus is still allowing preorders, and then you can get your minifigure.

And if I am remembering right, the game is only $39.99 this week only.

Wow, once again great images. I wonder if BrickLink is noticing that quality images recieve quality feedback...

@Huw - Just act like you didn't see it ;)

Great pictures again Huw (allthough I still have that problem with the pictures). My Jack (that I got with the NOTW) has sliver outlines on his chest! The other two (one my Nan got me today) have black paint.

Back @ huw, brilliant setup, everyone needs to be reminded of your endeavor. Unless you have attempted it yourself it is hard to appreciate the cost and effort of simulating the lighting conditions that nature provides on a nice overcast day.

Looking good Huw. I just bought my first one a few days ago. It's the foutain. But what suprised me is that Jack isn't wearing his tricorn hat. You'd think he would, considering that the Fourtain is the main prize in the movie. I am buying the Lego PotC video game from Wal-Mart and am getting the special minifig. If you would like I could get a pick and send it to you.(However you do that) But it won't be here till monday.

Wonderful! :) I've noticed you added a little watermark in the enlarged pics... :)

Posted by lukehankenobi in United Kingdom, 18 May 2011 07:06

@Russell884 - I think it is just Jack in a Brown Jacket, with hair and Bandana, rather than hat. So it's a mixture of two

Posted by kurtgasper in United States, 18 May 2011 20:24

Don't meant to sound pushy but when will the rest be up? I can't wait!
