    ©2009 LEGO Group

Valid this Wednesday (6/15) through Saturday (6/18), Toys R Us is having yet another Buy One, Get One 50% Off promotion, but this time on All sets and games.  Please note that there is not the ususal * after "All" as this sale applies to everything!  I know I've cried wolf before, but this may very well be the best sale ever.  There's good news and bad news and good news.  The good news is that nearly every set offered online by TRU was in stock at the stroke of midnight last night.  The bad news is that several of the direct sets quickly depleted.  The Death Star, Fire Brigade and Medieval Market lasted less than 30 minutes and were quickly followed by the Emerald Night and Tower Bridge.  Overnight, it appears the only notable losses were the Emporium and the Cargo Train.  But there's still more good news.  As of right now, the NXT 2.0, AT-OT, Imperial Shuttle, Technic Excavator, Imperial Flagship, Tantive IV, Diagon Alley, Hogwarts and Queen Anne's Revenge are still in stock.  And there have been occasions where depleted sets return to stock, so keep checking!

    Good Hunting!

Update 8:30am:  Well, that didn't take long.  The Imperial Shuttle, Diagon Alley, and Imperial Flagship are now depleted.

Update 9:45am: Tower Bridge, Fire Brigade, Death Star, Cargo Train, Flagship, and Emerald Night now back in stock!

Is this an online only deal, or is it in-store too?

Posted by meyerc13 in United States, 15 Jun 2011 09:22

In store and online.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 15 Jun 2011 09:30

And the online deal only makes sense with sets $69.99 or over. Otherwise, you're paying freight which pretty much negates too much of the discount. Additionally, the discount will apply to multiple sets in-store and always in your favor while online, the discount will only apply once but still in your favor. Now that the direct sets are mostly depleted, it might be best to purchase in-store.

Thanks for the info yellowcastle. I'll be headed on over to TRU after work and see what I can pick up.

Posted by Nightshroud99 in Canada, 15 Jun 2011 09:46

I'll have to head over then, not sure what I want though.

Posted by calirican04 in United States, 15 Jun 2011 09:48

Thanks. I was able to order The Village Mill Raid and Flo's V8 Cafe. I bought the Creator Lighthouse last week, so I will probably return that and rebuy it with something else to taking advatage of the sale in store. The PoTC sets are marked up really high.

10am: Imperial Shuttle and Diagon back

Posted by ncbarrett in United States, 15 Jun 2011 10:24

The major sets are phasing in and out of availability.
keep checking on them.

Was able to grab an emerald night while it was back on for a moment.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 15 Jun 2011 10:42

You stole my emerald! J/K :o)

Posted by cjg in United States, 15 Jun 2011 10:50

This is amazing...

Posted by TooMuchLEGO in United States, 15 Jun 2011 10:52

Now this is a good sale. Through Saturday? Oh heck yeah! Should I try and get Alien Conquest or should I get some more Harry Potter? Argh, curse my tiny amount of allowance!

Posted by Ypres in Canada, 15 Jun 2011 10:53

Yeah I saw TRU online when everything was still in stock. Well it's a tough pill to swallow for those in Canada. If I was in the States I would've doubled up on deathstars, towerbridge, and modulars (diagon alley included). It's having to miss great deals like these that discourage me from collecting Lego.

Posted by Thomson & Thompson in Canada, 15 Jun 2011 11:08

What a GREAT deal! I want to get some sets now!
Does this apply in Canada, too?

Posted by mlavwilson in United States, 15 Jun 2011 11:18

Everything good is sold out, I missed this one once again.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 15 Jun 2011 11:33

Keep checking their site throughout the day. Stock has a tendency to just show back up.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 15 Jun 2011 12:57

12:55pm - Fire Brigade is back

Posted by legotwins in United States, 15 Jun 2011 12:58

Not 100% sure if this is everywhere, but for those that are picking up sets in the store where the prices are ridiculously inflated, the store will price match the price found on Toysrus.com so it would be just like getting the set online without the shipping charges (~ under 100).

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 15 Jun 2011 13:15

@legotwins: not in my city/state of Phoenix AZ. I asked them before if they ad match their own site and they said no.

Posted by mlavwilson in United States, 15 Jun 2011 13:35

Fire Brigade is gone...

Posted by sharky in United States, 15 Jun 2011 13:44

To bad this wasn't posted yesterday instead of 8:25 this morning.

Posted by ncbarrett in United States, 15 Jun 2011 13:58

The sale is through saturday, I am certain most sets will show up available again several times.

Posted by trb in United States, 15 Jun 2011 14:06

Really hoping the Cargo train will become available again.

Posted by Bee815 in United States, 15 Jun 2011 15:38

Got a couple of sets from TRU a little while ago. You haven't cried wolf, this is one of the best sales I've ever seen.
(Best ever: Batman LEGO at 70% off (Store: Tuesday Morning))

Posted by trb in United States, 15 Jun 2011 15:56

Passenger train is now out of stock online

Posted by malachirobertson in United States, 15 Jun 2011 15:58

They had this deal in-store, but only for Wednesday and Thursday. Got some bricks and more for a party and got some minifigures (series 4).

Posted by itsaturkey in United States, 15 Jun 2011 16:52

I just came back from TRU and Target. Target has a Buy 2 get 1 free for Pirates, HP and Ninjago. IF you live near Exton P.A. then go to the TRU there. They have two whole boxes of series 4 CM's!

Posted by Thomson & Thompson in Canada, 15 Jun 2011 16:57

@trb-That's too bad that the Passenger Train is out of stock online. But you can still get it in the stores. :)

Posted by Zackula in United States, 15 Jun 2011 19:16

I stopped by my local TRU after turning in some employment papers to get the last seven CMs I need. They rose the price from 2.99USD last time I was there to 3.49USD now.

Posted by Zackula in United States, 15 Jun 2011 19:17

@Bee815:
How did you find LEGO at Tuesday Morning? Mine only has MegaBloks

Posted by JDLego in Canada, 15 Jun 2011 19:41

Once Again nothing happens for me, I called my nearest Local Store(US) and they said they NO New Sets at all!!! I was looking forward to this when I got the email but I guess I cant get nothing now because the Store is going through `remodeling`so they said they weren`t going to get anything new for awhile, I would have really liked to get the Marina and Harbour for my City but I`ll guess Ì will wait for another Sale...too bad :(

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 15 Jun 2011 22:27

I bought the small Mater and Lightning McQueen. I know not much but my toddler wanted them. They were at MSRP of $6.99.

Posted by vamproe in United States, 15 Jun 2011 22:43

my local TRU refused to honor the on-line deal.
manager stated Toysrus.com and toysrus stores are 2 different companies and we only price match we do not honor promo's

what a crock

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 15 Jun 2011 22:54

@sharky- unfortunately, TRU didn't email everyone until Wednesday evening. That being said, some helpful members did alert us in the "This Week's Advertised Sales" news story as well as in the Brickset Forum. I would highly recommend that even non-forum members routinely browse the forum for realtime updates on these types of unadvertised sales. Also, as ncbarrett has pointed out, stock fluctuates at TRU so keep checking the next 3 days.

Posted by meyerc13 in United States, 15 Jun 2011 22:55

^^Did you check an item in the price scanners? This isn't an online only deal, the email was "shop online" and "find a store" which means it is both online and B&M. The Appleton WI store had no signs up, didn't have a clue the sale was going on, but it was in the computer and came up both at the price scanners and in the register.

The best thing, because there were no signs, the selection was still great. Usually by the time the first day of one of these sales has passed all of the decent sets are gone.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 15 Jun 2011 22:56

@vamproe - I had no issues at my local TRU and I've herd the same from many others. I imagine you either ran into a bad employee or bad store.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 15 Jun 2011 22:58

@meyerc13 - great point. Rely less on what employees tell you and pay more attention to the scanners and/or registers.

Posted by bsquiklehausen in United States, 15 Jun 2011 23:00

I got the City Fishing Boat and Satellite Launch Pad. Not only did I get the BOGO discount, I also convinced the cashier to also give me the mini Creator Lighthouse. Yay for free LEGO!

Posted by LegoKitfisto15 in United States, 15 Jun 2011 23:54

I'll be going to my local TRU tomorrow hopefully to score. I'm particularly interested in the Alien Mothership and getting either the Tripod Invader, UFO Abduction, or hopefully General Grievous' Starfighter. Hopefully their stock is still good! :)

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 16 Jun 2011 00:32

I managed to get all the sets I wanted online, but I do want the Creator Lighthouse set so I will need to hit a B&M store to try to get those to save on the shipping...

Posted by PerryMakes in United States, 16 Jun 2011 00:43

Those of you that ordered a "sold out" item... how is your order looking? I ordered two Grand Emporiums and my order is still "processing" 24 hours later... I talked to a women from TRU customer support who was absolutely useless. I wonder if they are just backed up, or if this is going to be one of those cases where I get an email in two days stating, "We're sorry, but our inventory will not allow us to process your order. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause." TRU is that type of company.

Posted by sharky in United States, 16 Jun 2011 09:21

Went to my local TRU and picked up a Creator Lighthouse and Star Wars Wampa Cave. The fact that this is ANY Lego set indeed makes this an awesome sale. Lighthouse was already a great price/piece ratio, and for $19.99 it was even better.

Posted by pop3465 in United States, 16 Jun 2011 09:26

YES!Maby We might get to go to TRU....We live no where near one...but where going to town today....I Can't WAIT!I wonder if the will have any Cars Sets...Fat chance thou...

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 16 Jun 2011 09:55

TRU has removed nearly 100 items from their website including most of the direct sets. Let's hope some of them return before the end of Saturday.

Posted by The Guy With The Bricks in United States, 16 Jun 2011 10:03

Yeah, I've been checking on Diagon Alley intermittently since yesterday afternoon and was surprised to see this morning that it had completely disappeared from their site!

Does removing the items indicate that they just wanted to clear their inventory and will no longer carry those sets?

Posted by ncbarrett in United States, 16 Jun 2011 10:19

@crzypainter that is a distinct possibility

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 16 Jun 2011 10:27

^-- Usually it just means they have been tired of the sets inadvertently showing stock, causing people to think that the sets are available when in fact they are not. I saw this happen last night with a few of the direct sets.. shown as available but when you click on them you get their standard note saying quantity was adjusted to see nothing in the cart.
I doubt TRU is getting rid of those.. I guess anything is possible, and I have heard Lego Store employees grumble about TRU having those sets at all...
I really hope this does not happen, cause I want TRU to get the Maersk trains sets :-)

Posted by Skywalker1966 in United States, 16 Jun 2011 10:28

TOO... MUCH... LEGO... NEED... MORE...MONEY... I just do not have the money for all the cool stuff LEGO is making! Even on sale! Maybe I will be able to use one of these sales to get the Earth Defense HQ and Hoth Echo Base when it comes out.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 16 Jun 2011 10:43

This is definitely a good opportunity to get the Earth Defense HQ as it will pair nicely with the harbor or Public Transport. As for the Hoth Echo Base, you'd probably be better off designing one youself. ;o)

Posted by ppdude in United States, 16 Jun 2011 14:20

FYI, best sales is probably at Target in-store around late January. I managed to score some smaller sets at 50%-75% off.

Posted by Thomson & Thompson in Canada, 16 Jun 2011 14:22

So the sale is just in the US, then?

@vedder1029-I hope that they are in Canada, too.

@ppdude-75% off? That's awesome!

Posted by Bee815 in United States, 16 Jun 2011 14:45

@Zacula: It was a special sale. There was only one, and I have never seen LEGO since, although every once in a while a lego set will pop up for 20% off or so. It was a giant sale, and the best sale I've ever seen. Got the Batcave for $20, the Arkham Asylum for $30, and a bunch of other sets.
EDIT: Actually the Batman wasn't 70% off, but the ad and sign said 70% + off

Posted by Bee815 in United States, 16 Jun 2011 14:46

@Vedder: They got all of 'em in my store in Waco, TX. They're marked up though. :(

Posted by ppdude in United States, 16 Jun 2011 15:43

FYI. Grand Emporium is back.

@Thomson & Thompson-yes. You can potentially get 90% off from Target after Xmas clearance. They start with 25%, then 50%, then 75%, and then 90%. However I have never seen Lego made it past 75% :) They are discontinued stuff. Last year was Power Miners and Space Rangers.

Posted by ThisIsMyCup in United States, 16 Jun 2011 15:47

if i buy 2 sets, one priced 44.99 and the other 39.99, so i got the second half off....then if i return the higher priced one, will i get the full $44.99 back??

Posted by ppdude in United States, 16 Jun 2011 15:58

@ThisIsMyCup, I am guessing you will only get 44.99+19.99(50%off) -39.99 (price of the second set) back. Essentially you are buying a 39.99 set at full price.

Posted by micano in United States, 16 Jun 2011 16:26

Fire Brigade and Grand Emporium are available again on toysrus.com but this time they are not on the LEGO Creator page and don't show up in a search of the site. I was able to get to both because they appeared in the Recently Viewed area at the bottom of the page. BOGO50off still in effect.
These links should get you to them:

Grand Emporium: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4057248&prodFindSrc=rv

Anyone know if the pet shop or Maersk train are offered through toysrus? I can't search and find ANYTHING through their website. Some stuff like the tower bridge I can find (linked at the bottom at one point) but can't browse or search for and find.

Thanks

Posted by dougts in United States, 16 Jun 2011 16:46

both those items are still LEGO exclusive

Posted by bmuscat in United States, 16 Jun 2011 16:53

Managed to score two Fire Brigades and two Grand Emporiums. I'm pretty happy with this sale, glad I got in on it.

Posted by tlwiz in United States, 16 Jun 2011 16:54

I bought 2 of the Grand Emporium since they were out of everything else. Oh well. Would've loved to get a Queen Anne's Revenge or the Pet Shop (I know they don't have it, but I need it!). Any one want to trade?!? ;)

Posted by cinrose in United States, 16 Jun 2011 16:55

I just bought 2 Emerald Nights from TRU, even though they are not being shown in the general search.
I had a couple things in my cart from a previous visit. When I scrolled down to the bottom of the cart page, the Emerald Night showed up from my previous searching. I clicked on it and it said it was available to ship, so I bought 2.
Plus I got the little lighthouse and shipping for free!!!!!!

Posted by dougts in United States, 16 Jun 2011 17:26

i passed on buying the QAR yesterday when the sale started because TRU has that at a full $20 over RRP, which is just ridiculous. you would end up getting 2 for $105 each, which isn't that great of a reduction over the $120 RRP. Much better values to be had on this sale with the modulars, diagon, flagship, DS, shuttle, bridge, emerald, etc - all of which are priced at RRP

Posted by calirican04 in United States, 16 Jun 2011 18:23

Yea the price for QAR at $139.99 is simply ridiculous. Get it at Target with their BOGO 50% off. They don't mark up.

Posted by ecmo47 in United States, 16 Jun 2011 18:25

Walmart.com has the Slave 1 (8097) currently for sale at $62.89 which is less then 25% off the TRS price (67.50). This is the lowest I've seen this overpriced set. A few weeks ago they had the Turbo tank listed around $90.00. Neither was listed as a "rollback".

Went to the local TRS last night and got 2 x V-19's but an really hoping for a Fire Brigade and Grand Emporium.

Just picked up the last Republic Attack Shuttle and TIE Defender! The defender was $34.99 and went down to about $17 so a very good deal indeed. Also I got 2 Lighthouses because I spent about $80 total. Thanks brickset for this sale notification!

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 16 Jun 2011 20:24

^--Also thank Paul88, he is the one that listed this in the forum the night the sale started!!!

Just got the shipping notification for the Excavators and Death Stars !!! Woohoo

Posted by tlwiz in United States, 16 Jun 2011 20:39

Well,
My "order" went through, but they just emailed me to say "Sorry, your items are on backorder, and we have no idea when they will ship."

I knew it was too good to be true! Oh well!

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 16 Jun 2011 20:41

^ Actually back order does not mean no order.. I had something on backorder from TRU and it did ship

Posted by sharky in United States, 16 Jun 2011 22:43

I picked up the Fire Brigade and Grand Emporium because it still showed up on my recently viewed items. Both listings showed in stock. My order went through fine; however, I later got an e-mail stating that the GE is on back order and will ship when it comes in stock. One shouldn't worry about backorder. The items are not discontinued yet from Lego, so TRU can get more in if they order them as what seems to be the case.

sets now come back up under general LEGO search.
also Technic Supercar and passenger train are back in stock.

Posted by teal93mr2 in United States, 17 Jun 2011 13:28

....and back out of stock. Wow, I guess you really have to hit the site at exactly the right time.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 17 Jun 2011 13:38

I think there are people doing nothing but watching the site like a hawk.. Which is good for those who are nice enough to post that these sets are back on site and to the people that it benefits, but bad for those who are watching the site to buy as well...
As for me, I have no money to buy anymore (expensive sets)online.. I want to get a few Creator Lighthouses and maybe train rail repair vehicles but need to hit a B&M store to get those.. Im not going to allow myself to get killed on shipping for those

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 17 Jun 2011 13:39

^^ @mlavwilson: Thanks for listing these, btw :-)

Posted by desultor in N/A, 17 Jun 2011 18:35

Spoiled grapes here since it looks like I missed the goods, but...

At nearly 10% sales tax, BOGO50 (even with no markup or shipping, and buying two at the same cost) only nets us 18% off MSRP. We've seen much better sales on Amazon.

On the other hand, we're not likely to see the expensive sets at 30% off on Amazon, right? Is that why everybody is aflutter over this TRU sale?

Posted by rocao in United States, 17 Jun 2011 19:35

^ Discounts at Amazon are possible, and they were certainly present during the past holiday season, i.e. Tantive and Fire Brigade for 25% off, but yes, we're half a year from the seasonal discounting and many of the sets that people are targeting with this sale are long in the tooth and have a good likelihood of retiring before then, i.e. Death Star, Emerald Night, Medieval Market Village, Fire Brigade, Tantive

Posted by Vader X in United States, 18 Jun 2011 01:09

Got two emerald nights on the way! I have been holding out a long time for these, got them for $160US with free shipping cant beat that deal in my book. Going to make these into a Christmas theme to go with my winter toy shop and bakery since i was in the dark ages for the holiday train and tired of hunting for one via Ebay

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 18 Jun 2011 10:19

You can't slam TRU for still having to pay tax as you have to pay that everywhere (even Amazon when your taxes come due next April). At TRU, Many sets are listed at MSRP and you even get free shipping if you pair sets at $69.99 or higher. And if you factor in the initial and later sporadic inventory of direct sets, this is arguably one of the best sales we are ever going to see.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 18 Jun 2011 11:56

^-- and the cool thing is the smaller sets (that do not register for free shipping) can be found at TRU as well.. I picked up 2 Lighthouses, 2 rail repair vehicles, and two sets for my nephews as presents there last night (though I think I P.O'd the people behind me when my TRU made me pay separately for each sets of items to get the 3 bonus tiny lighthouses)
I also picked up a Frank's Monster and a Mad Scientist at the Collectable minifig end cap (They had like 6 boxes of figs there)..Wanted a Geisha, but did not want to sit there forever..

AS for the tax 'argument' normally you must pay taxes everywhere (and different counties are different taxes, here in IL Cook county (where all of the Lego's stores are incidentally) are like 10-11% sales tax, where as the county next door so to speak is 8.5% I believe... not much, until you start getting the 'bigger' sets... For a long time Lego.com did not have to change sales tax, but then came the Lego stores into the state, now they are forced to account for it... Right now all the states are challenging this concept of no tax on internet good due to the sizable tax revenue lost, so I do not think this will last for much longer... that are you should be reporting your non-taxed good on your taxes... theoretically anyways...

That and while Amazon used to do killer sales (I remember the town plan being something like 110 dollars and the Green Grocer being like 105 or vice versa at a sale once) they do not do that much anymore... you are likely to get maybe 20%...more if they want to rid themselves of an item that usually no one wants. SO like Yellowcastle said, Amazon is nice, but deals are not guaranteed and usually do not occur much with big ticket items... Not to mention getting a SW Death Star at TRU (after taxes and 10 dollars shipping) was only 325 per.. the Amazon ones never go that low, at least from what I have seen...

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 18 Jun 2011 11:59

Actually thanks to those watching TRU.com like a hawk and reporting the results here (thanks again @mlavwilson) this is the first time I have seen sets become available again DURING a BOGO sale of any kind.. usually when sets where gone they were gone until the sale stopped.

Posted by Irene in United States, 18 Jun 2011 22:51

The best news is I was able to get the three sets I wanted at Target. I had to go to a store 20 miles away, but that was because using Target's Store finder, I found a shop with all three of the sets in stock. The problem was that the instore signs had Buy Two - Get third set free. So, I ended up spening $50+$35 and getting the $11 set free.

Thank this site for the special offer info, and the suggestion that I needed to check store stock before driving around.
