    kempo81 told us today "I have just been into my local Esso petrol station and they are running a promo on LEGO City sets. The deal is you spend £20 pounds or more on Fuel and you can purchase one of 6 City polybag sets for £1.50.

    "I couldn't see any specific terms and conditions up and there was no indication of limitations with regard to the number of sets you could purcase per transaction. From what I can tell its the following sets:

    I've just checked the Esso website and found this news article that provides more information. However despite what it claims, only two are exclusive. 30015 Jet Ski certainly hasn't been seen in the UK before, and 30014 has so far only been available in the USA, but the others have at one time or another through Daily Mirror/Sun promotions.

    Update: I got lucky at my local garage just now. The woman at the till looked blankly when I asked her for 2 of the sets, apparently having just returned to work and not been told anything about them. I could see the pile of boxes behind the till so I told her the ones I wanted, she fetched them but didn't know whether to scan them or what, so she just gave them to me. Arguably they should be free with £20 of fuel, anyway...

Typical, the only location anywhere near me is a motorway service station (although it is not on the motorway) and charges around 10p per litre more for fuel than other local sites, i think it would be cheaper to buy them from ebay.

Toysrus sent me a catolog over the weekend that said the jet ski is free when you spend $30 on city,kingdoms, hero factory, or alien conquest sets. I would sooner buy it alone for $4.

Word of warning, you can only get one per transaction, so if you buy £40 of petrol (as I just did) you can only get one Lego set. I argued quite strongly but the guy said he had no choice as it has to go through the till system and they can only do 1 per transaction.

One other point is that you can get 1 with £5 of spend in the shop, so got a second and treated the wife/kids to Magnums! :)

I got all six with one purchase of diesel.
I asked if I could have them all and the guy said - as many as I liked! (though obviously I had to pay for each one).
It's the usual story of the employees not knowing the rules. Daft if you are limited to one only when you are spending £100 on fuel!

ps Off topic i know but just got the new ewok attack set delivered from very.co.uk Came with the free ltd edition minifig poster that Smyths were giving away the other month. Nice surprise. It does actually say on the site you get the poster with all the new sets. Didnt see that

Ooh, some nice little sets! From what I've seen, it seems the US gets lets frequent, bigger exclusives and the UK gets more frequent smaller sets. Am I correct? I really don't understand the idea of country exclusives in the first place, oh well. I wonder why a gas station would sell Lego's, are they more like a big truck stop?

My local Esso is tiny, if you had 3 people in there it would be a crush.
Bit disappointed that others appear to have been able to get as many as they wish and I was limited to 1 after buying my £50+ of petrol, but guess that it is luck of the draw, just as bad as the Mirror/Sun giveways depends who you get...

Good offer: Buy tabloid newspaper for 25p - get free polybag set.
Bad offer: Buy GBP20.00 of petrol (gas) - then buy polybag set for additional 1.50.

I managed to get the police buggy and dinghy last night. the assistant would only let me have one per 20 pound purchase, but luckily the girl behind me bought one for me. after looking on esso's website you can buy them if you spend 5 pound in the shop as well.

plantbit -- you'll have to go to eBay. But I've bought 14 different polybag sets from different eBay sellers in the last week. They're all on there, and most sellers have a whole bunch of different types. So they're easy enough to find. But I think you'll have to do it that way.

Interestingly enough, I couldn't find the little police helicopter (30014), but there's a fire-fighter version, which is the same but with red pieces instead of blue.

Esso in Ireland actually have these, amazingly (we rarely get any of the UK offers) but they're €1.90 with a 10 quid car wash. Cheaper outlay but a lot less likely to be doing it!

I picked up 2 of them when filling my car up in Galway. They were 1.75 each and I had to fill up with 25 euro of fuel. They don't seem to have a limit on how many you can buy and I was only interested in two of them anyway so fine by me.

One thing I would note is the Jet Ski life jackets are different than the ones pictured on the bag. they are less chunky with some 'carved' detail on them. The only thing not great about them though is they leave a noticable gap between the jacket and head at the front. Shame really.
