  • Free Ninjago minifig in Nitro magazine

Posted by Huw, 14 Jul 2011 13:40. Filed under Shopping (UK).

Here's some breaking news from the forum, which is worth repeating here: Buy this week's Nitro kids' magazine and get a free Ninjago minifig and other Ninjago stuff.

I can't find a website for the magazine, but this news article has more information about the promotion.

(Thanks to rwsales for the news)

I thought America was cared for by TLG!?
Man oh man...

Absolute bargain. Comes with either Jay or Frakjaw, complete with spinner, 3 weapons, 5 cards and holder, exactly as you would get in a spinner pack, though obviously these two are only available together in the Spinjitzi Starter Set at retail.

How much is the mag?

Posted by Doctor Leg O'Brick in United Kingdom, 14 Jul 2011 14:45

Can you see what Mini-Figure you get? I just need Jay to complete my NinjaGo coloured ninjas, but I would be happy with a Frakjaw to help along that undead army I have been making...

The magazine is £3.99, and no you cannot see which figure is enclosed without tearing open the outer bag. Does not come in cardboard packaging, basically a sealable bag within.

Any idea what weapons you get with each minifig? Is it the same as their spinner packs?

Posted by mrwhizzard in United Kingdom, 14 Jul 2011 18:01

^ Yes, Frakjaw comes with bone staff, sword and mace as per the Spinjitzi Starter Set.

It would be way better if - 1. The mag was available in North America, and 2. It was a better theme than Ninjago.

Is it subscription or can you buy it from news agents? Im unfamiliar with today's children oriented magazines.

Posted by Andhe in United Kingdom, 15 Jul 2011 04:43

I had a quick look in WHSmiths at both my train stations on the way to work, but couldn't see it.

Posted by mrwhizzard in United Kingdom, 15 Jul 2011 05:07

^ TheCahleySlash, you can buy it from most newsagents providing they stock it. Believe issue only came out yesterday so may take a day or two for it to filtrate to some stockists.

^Thanks, I will 'hunt' around town today for an issue.

On the news article it said there had been previous promotions, but I don't remember there being any such.

I picked up a couple of copies from Sainsburys in Cheltenham today, they had more available. This information may be useless to others though, since I suspect I may be the only AFOL in Cheltenham!

Posted by TheCahleySlash in United Kingdom, 15 Jul 2011 07:39

I went today to my local tescos in Bishops Cleeve and found that they only had 1 copy left.
The magazine has lots of things about lego including cars ,technic and ninjago. Why didn't some one tell me about it !
^I live in Cheltenham too

I bought a copy earlier from Morrisons and its a bumper packed issue: Right people update for you, as you know you get one of two figures but if you happen to be one of the 5 lucky ones who finds the Red Ninja Kai then you are a winner for their competition and which a load of wicked LEGO Ninjago gear including set 2260 and 2505. I ended up with Frakjaw, the piece came with 3 weapons, 5 cards and the lego pieces to set the display up to hold your cards, I was lucky enough to also get a spare piece as well, there are no instructions with it but you can use the instructions from set 2257 from the official LEGO site,

Also there is a competition inside to win the LEGO technic Supercar. There is a feature on the LEGO Cars and a LEGO Cars poster so plenty to sink your teeth into. I will upload some images shortly to my blog http://bricksandbooks.co.uk

I got Jay with my Nitro in Erdington, Birmingham in WHS. I got the last one if anyone is going to get one from their. Is their some way you can add them to your collection without owning the Spinjitzi starter set, Huw?

Posted by IAN HULSE in United Kingdom, 16 Jul 2011 14:06

I bought 4 this morning in W H smiths in Warrington, got jay 4 times. still it s built up my ninja force.

I picked up a copy today, I got Frakjaw, I really wanted Jay though. Oh Well :/

The water pistol is pretty good too, shoots quite well :)

And in reply to Doctor Leg O'Brick I hope there is a way to add this to this to our inventory too, i've had to add the starter set and then add a little note about it :/

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 16 Jul 2011 14:31

Does it have a set number?

Posted by Ryan498 in United Kingdom, 16 Jul 2011 14:53

I'm not sure :/

The spinner which comes with the magazine can only be bought at retail in the Spinjitsu starter pack and not one their own. Whilst you can buy spinners on their own these spinners which come with the magazine only come with the starter set.

Posted by Doctor Leg O'Brick in United Kingdom, 16 Jul 2011 15:10

No set number, just a bag with the mini-figure parts, the cards and the spinner.

Thanks to the forum for finding the news, and thanks to Huw for letting the rest of us know.

I picked up a copy from Sainsburys and was lucky enough to get Jay. My son was actually pleased he didn't get Kai and the other prizes, as he'd lost his Jay a few weeks ago ! So £4 well spent - I'd have been pretty disappointed if he'd gotten another Frakjaw. Will keep an eye out for other good "freebies" but the content of the magazine is pretty unsuitable for my six year old son, especially as we don't own a games console. (I don't think my PS1 gathering dust in the loft counts)

@Huw: With regards to inventory, how about creating 2257-F and 2257-J for these numberless packs ?

@ LEGOlas1: F - Frakjaw, J - Jay. Slightly more logical than random letters (though admittedly not much more logical)

Posted by Doctor Leg O'Brick in United Kingdom, 19 Jul 2011 14:09

@mission_zed, you sound like Mr Spock! (any Star trek fan will get the joke). Joking aside, did anyone see (or get) the old style octagon hilt with Jay? And is Jay more rare? Not as many seem to have found him.
