I think I read a day or two ago that the UK price will be £280. I can't afford that at the moment and so I'm hoping this set will be available for a couple of years before it's discontinued by LEGO. Judging by how long other big sets such as the sandcrawler and Death Star II have been available, I think it's safe to say this set will still be around in 2010, which will give me some time to save up for it.

Dude! that's got so many features! how many pieces?

Posted by lego12 in United States, 22 Jun 2008 22:05

There is a video of it at fbtb.net. the trash compactor is really cool!

Posted by halfpenguinhalflego in United Kingdom, 23 Jun 2008 15:19

i have seen the video now and i love it all especially the lift (oh and the trash compactor monster is cute) i want one but i doubt i wont get £300 to buy it it. :( but if its $400 dollars id say it will be £300... ish

Posted by mykpfsu, 23 Jun 2008 15:55

Very cool, but at $400 ain't gonna happen for me.

Posted by bigz123 in United States, 23 Jun 2008 16:05

th ecompacter really compacts! theres an elivator! turrents spin! Huge cannon moves which is wierd! All chairs in room spin! Want it! want it! want it!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by lego12 in United States, 23 Jun 2008 17:41

Go to http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/brdavis/Brickworld2008/Deathstar/100_8479.jpg

There is a guy talking and a screen behind him....the screen appears to be from a Lego catalouge...hmmmmmmmm...

Posted by hustla187 in United States, 23 Jun 2008 18:27

Choose Death Star.

Posted by Manxboi24 in United States, 23 Jun 2008 19:51

Thanks for this news! However, I've decided to wait for the Death Star to go on clearance while in the mean time, buying the Clone Wars sets. But the Death Star still looks good - just expensive.

Posted by sith assassin in United States, 23 Jun 2008 19:53

Manxboi you r exactly right im goin with him wait 4 clearance $200 maybe $300. meanwhile buy clone wars stuff

Posted by sith assassin in United States, 23 Jun 2008 20:05

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=322843 i found new pics!!! LOOK their sooo cool New clones!!!!!

Posted by sith assassin in United States, 23 Jun 2008 20:08

AAAAHHHH twilight, droid gunship, tx-130, spider droid, AAAAAHHHH definantly clone wars death star can wait.

Posted by sith assassin in United States, 23 Jun 2008 20:10

they say the red/maroon new clone with the spider droid is cmdr fox. weird

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 23 Jun 2008 21:06

Um, sith assassin, bigz123 already found those pics and showed them to me. I've already seen them. I definitely want the homing spider droid, but twilight looks weird and you can get those minifigs in the new at-te which I am going to get. The droid gunship pic is blurry so I can't tell if it looks any good, and the fighter tank looks sorta scrawney; I hope it looks better in another pic.

SWEET

Posted by Kulturkampf in United States, 24 Jun 2008 00:07

I just pre-ordered it! Im SO excited!!!! I want to see the video...

Posted by indyjones in United Kingdom, 24 Jun 2008 02:52

just bought it of ebay 200 quid for preorder

Posted by Bongo48 in United States, 24 Jun 2008 10:50

I have seen the video on fbtb.net,and it looks really cool! The turrets rotate, the trash compactor closes in,and there is a cool elevator that really works!I would love to get it,but I'm not going to get $400 any time soon.

Posted by mrdoofa in United Kingdom, 24 Jun 2008 12:33

I have watched the video on youtube and now love this set even more, also, if you go to fbtb.net there is a link to gizmodo where there is 3 very high resolution pics of the death star, the only problem is that after viewing these it has made me want the set even more! I wonder when you will be able to preorder it in the UK. I don't care how much it costs I will be getting this ASAP. I can't afford it but who cares? What are overdrafts for!

Posted by halfpenguinhalflego in United Kingdom, 24 Jun 2008 13:36

is it £200? can someone please help me cos im getting £120 soon and may buy the motorized AT-AT!!!

Posted by mrdoofa in United Kingdom, 24 Jun 2008 13:41

I think it will be more like £250.00-£300.00 judging by the size and piece count, does anybody know what that crank is for on the side under the tie docking bay?

Posted by bigz123 in United States, 24 Jun 2008 15:31

has anyone noticed that c3-po has flesh tone hands?

Posted by halfpenguinhalflego in United Kingdom, 24 Jun 2008 16:05

does anybody know what the twilight is going to be? i know its a ship but is important to the new storyline in the new clone wars movie?
and i think the crank on the side of the deathstar is for that cannon on the bottom because it looks like it has gears...

Posted by bigz123 in United States, 24 Jun 2008 17:29

Its like a clone styled landing craft.

Posted by Manxboi24 in United States, 24 Jun 2008 17:32

The Twilight is Anakin's personal freighter.

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 24 Jun 2008 20:38

Judgeing by the fact that the twilight set comes with jabba's son rotta, I think it is more importantly the ship that anakin and ashoka take to rescue rotta.

What is this talk of a crank? What is a crank anyway? Are ya'll trying to say cranE?

Posted by lego12 in United States, 24 Jun 2008 21:56

Is it ONLY at Lego shop @ home? Is it a Wal-mart or Target? Or Toyr R Us?

Posted by mrdoofa in United Kingdom, 24 Jun 2008 22:22

I think it will be exclusive to s@h and lego stores only

Posted by Jimmy Hopkins, 25 Jun 2008 12:45

Death star just isn't worth it. But anyway, would you rather get the new death star or the millenium falcon? Which is a better value?

Posted by sith assassin in United States, 25 Jun 2008 13:51

I would go for the death star it has more features it has more figs. and the falcon is too big so you cant play with it.

Posted by halfpenguinhalflego in United Kingdom, 25 Jun 2008 13:54

I would go the deathstar cos it has so many things including a new emperor minifig(he has a different head and torso) and 25 minifigs and also looks easier to move. and also cheaper £££

Posted by mrdoofa in United Kingdom, 25 Jun 2008 18:23

Although the falcon has more pieces and is bigger it is purely a display model, the death star on the other hand is a very detailed playset with lots of working features and includes a staggering 25 figs! You need to get both really as they are both outstanding sets. If I had to choose one I would probably go for the death star first then save up and get the falcon.

Posted by halfpenguinhalflego in United Kingdom, 25 Jun 2008 18:24

they would would never make a to scale deathstar for legomen!

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 25 Jun 2008 19:12

I would most definitely get the death star over the new falcon for three reasons:

1. The death star is cooler and comes with more figs

2. I already have a falcon but no death star

3. The death star is much CHEAPER

And that's about it. :)

Posted by luvendraw in United States, 25 Jun 2008 21:09

man 400 bucks shessh, if it ever goes down to at least $100, or I find it somewhere for that, then i'll get it otherwise, it was not the way things were meant to be.

Posted by d.c. gentry in United Kingdom, 26 Jun 2008 06:26

It should be around 220 GPB at the most. 280 pounds would be a rip off!

Posted by rwars in Canada, 27 Jun 2008 08:55

its in canada to

Posted by indyjones in United Kingdom, 27 Jun 2008 13:29

yer, i agree

Posted by dfenz in Ireland, 27 Jun 2008 18:58

The set is now available for pre-order on LS@H Europe. The price is Stg£199 which is lower than many expected. The euro price for most countries is euro299 although the Irish price is euro 269.

David

Posted by dfenz in Ireland, 27 Jun 2008 19:09

By the way the release date for Europe is also 16 September 2008. Australian price is Aud399.99 and for New Zealand its NZD429.99.

David

Posted by mrdoofa in United Kingdom, 27 Jun 2008 20:44

Yes! It can now be preordered in the UK! £199.99 is expensive but still cheaper than I thought it would be, I cannot wait to get it. Has anyone figured out what that mystery crank on the side is for yet?

Posted by Nth Pi in United States, 27 Jun 2008 21:08

I'm pretty sure the crank is there to operate the second elevator, or lift, under the Hangar Bay.

Posted by richard180275 in United Kingdom, 28 Jun 2008 02:52

I was up early this morning. Death Star is now available for pre order on Uk S@H for £199. Will ship 1st September.

Cheers - Richard (Bricktowntalk)

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 28 Jun 2008 03:02

> The price is Stg£199 which is lower than many expected

@dfenz, you are not wrong! That makes LEGO's £:$ exchange rate 1:2 which is just about right for a change.

Posted by legoguysw in United Kingdom, 28 Jun 2008 04:11

Thankyou Huw! I am very happy now.

Posted by indyjones in United Kingdom, 28 Jun 2008 04:34

Frontpage this, Huw, please.

Posted by halfpenguinhalflego in United Kingdom, 28 Jun 2008 15:42

YAY!!! This means I could probably only just get the new deathstar instead of the AT-AT!!! But it will be hard

Posted by sith assassin in United States, 28 Jun 2008 17:16

AAAAAHHHHHH i found a new set look http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3253928

and i found a new pic of the droid gunship, comes with 3 droids. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3255338

Posted by lego12 in United States, 28 Jun 2008 18:29

I found that years ago sith assassin, ok a couple of days ago and I already sent Huw the pics and info! :D

Posted by sith assassin in United States, 28 Jun 2008 20:36

if you saw them y didnt you tell us? anyway on the new list on brickset it says there is a new mini set thats # is 20006, it says it has 64 pieces, 20006 says it has 64 pieces. i think 20006 is the clone turbo tank mini.

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 28 Jun 2008 21:04

Cool pics, sith assassin! Also, I read on wikipedia that the droid gunship didn't come with any minifigs, but I guess that pic proves them wrong. Also, I want to know what that gear on the top of the droid gunship is for. I bet it has something to do with something that spins.

Posted by legomaster sev15, 28 Jun 2008 22:46

i think the winch on the gunship drops all the bombs as you can tell by the picture there is bombs dropping with those circle shaped thing

Posted by halfpenguinhalflego in United Kingdom, 29 Jun 2008 05:55

They do look cool but that isnt on topic lolz

Posted by lego12 in United States, 29 Jun 2008 12:24

I already told Huw that I think that set #20006 is the Clone Turbo Tank, and it is! Way ahead of you sith assassin. I didn't say anything because they are posted on Eurobricks! :D

Posted by savepuffy in Canada, 29 Jun 2008 17:52

In 2-3 months I should be able to get it. Really like the laser controls and tractor beam generator!

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 29 Jun 2008 20:02

I'm probably not going to get this set even though I D-R-E-A-D-F-U-L-L-Y want it! Instead I'm going to focus on the new clone wars sets and get the new AT-TE which should be out by now. C'mon why can't it just be out right now?!? I soooooooooo want it to be out! WAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHA! Sorry, I was getting a little emotional there. But, maybe I'll get this set at christmastime if it's on clearance for say......200 bucks!

Posted by lego12 in United States, 29 Jun 2008 20:40

I'm getting the new AT-TE! :D

Posted by bjl in United States, 29 Jun 2008 22:11

Are you goin to get the DS Leggodt?

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 30 Jun 2008 15:05

Probably not, legoguysw. As I mentioned in an earlier comment, I'm going to focus on getting the clone wars sets seeing as the death star will be on lego.com for a long time, and the clone wars sets will be here for a short time. But, I really would like to get the death star, legoguysw. Thanks for askin'. :)

Posted by halfpenguinhalflego in United Kingdom, 30 Jun 2008 15:28

OMG i can get it! :D I just can't buy anything in summer! :(
But you guys are still not on topic (don't mean to be a goody 2 shoez)

Posted by indyjones in United Kingdom, 30 Jun 2008 15:31

yer, i want them but i might get too into the theme and i dont realy want to go onto star wars help!:(

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 30 Jun 2008 15:37

Why not, indyjones? Star Wars is a wonderful theme with plenty of exotic minifigs and characters.

Posted by indyjones in United Kingdom, 30 Jun 2008 16:29

i know legogodt, but im into so many themes, i cant keep up. i can afford it sure, but i went off lego starwars even though i own about 92% of it i guess ill buy a few, but i want the new batman and agents when theyre out in uk!

Posted by lego12 in United States, 30 Jun 2008 17:07

I am goin to get the sandcrawler instead.

Posted by lego12 in United States, 01 Jul 2008 11:22

OFF-TOPIC, but I KNOW what the knob is for on the Death Star!!! From Lego catalog "Use the working pilot lift to access the TIE advanced fighter!"

Posted by lego12 in United States, 01 Jul 2008 11:28

The knob on the Death Star is to pick up the TIE Advanced Fighter and to move out of the Death Star as seen on the NEW Lego catalouge! :D

Posted by bigz123 in United States, 01 Jul 2008 12:28

actually it is the lift to get the pilots up to the dockig bay.

Posted by lego12 in United States, 01 Jul 2008 12:34

ohhhhh....

Posted by bjl in United States, 01 Jul 2008 12:35

Off topic but is anyone ele having trouble logging into lego.com?

Posted by lego12 in United States, 01 Jul 2008 13:42

Nope! At first yes, but I figured it out! :D They are testing a new system and you have to press "update account" and answer the questions and then they will send you an e-mail, and you click the link on the e-mail and then you log in! Tada! :D :D :D

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 01 Jul 2008 14:06

My friend loaned me a copy of the summer 2008 catalogue, and I saw the segment that they had on the death star. I learned some things that I didn't even realize like the elevator and other stuff too. Plus, I got to see the dianoga monster. It has alot of brown pieces which is weird. The set is so cool! It's just a shame that I can't afford it.

Posted by indyjones in United Kingdom, 01 Jul 2008 15:08

:( what catalogue? i live in the uk i havent herd of this is it online?:/:(

Posted by bigz123 in United States, 01 Jul 2008 16:28

the new 2008 summer one

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 01 Jul 2008 16:36

Bigz is right, indyjones. And it is online on the u.s. lego site. I think you can change your region.

Posted by indyjones in United Kingdom, 02 Jul 2008 02:40

:D great idea i did that to see the agent page but it isnt loaded yet:( this set for me, i think is a nit too cramped but ive ordered it now so heres to september 11th

Posted by d.c. gentry in United Kingdom, 02 Jul 2008 08:29

I know I'm backtracking, but that fighter tank is not a clone turbo tank mini. It is a different tank with a minifigure(s), known to battlefront 2 fans as an IFT-X

Posted by d.c. gentry in United Kingdom, 02 Jul 2008 08:37

about that previous comment- I thought you chaps were referring to something different ...

Posted by indyjones in United Kingdom, 02 Jul 2008 11:02

yer this set is as some might put it 'off the hook' the us got online first but i just cheked s@t and uk has all agents sets including sea quest and volcano base available now for 34.99 and uhh ill check

Posted by Indy 11 in United States, 02 Jul 2008 19:43

I saw this on LEGO.com afew days ago when I was oredering my Peril in Peru Indiana jones LEGO set. This set is sooo cool but way too expensive! $399.00!!!

PROs:
- All sences from the origanal triogy of the STAR WARS saga

CONs:
- priced at $399

I would love to get it if I had the money!
I am only 13 years old!

LOWER THE PRICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...( otherwise very good :)

Posted by Kulturkampf in United States, 03 Jul 2008 01:08

Im going to cancel my order. It's awesome, but I wont be able to buy any other lego sets for 4 months...which is a VERY bad thing, especially with the new clone wars sets coming out.

Posted by indyjones in United Kingdom, 03 Jul 2008 02:37

ah dont worry indy 11, im thinking of canceling mine i only got it because my dad gave me the money in cash and said i could keep it till the end of next month and for a whole month no lego sets and i was 'burning a whole in my pocket' and spent it so i cant start collecting sw again for im broke :( so i think i will sorry guys

Posted by Redbullgivesuwind in United Kingdom, 03 Jul 2008 05:32

yeah but i think for what you get thats 24 mini figs all new ones as well. and a tie fighter £200 is really cheap it is massive as well oads of parts and about 60 million different scenes. i think its well worth it. the clone tank can wait it don't look very good and the twilight is not worth much either it looks nah and has nothing new.

Posted by paddy.lego in Ireland, 03 Jul 2008 07:51

Death Star now available for pre-order in Europe ! The price listed on lego.com is €269.99 or £199.99. Will ship on 16th September. Can't wait. Already number 5 on the "What's Hot" list.

Posted by Indy 11 in United States, 03 Jul 2008 10:17

That's fine. lol LOWER THE PRICE!!! LEGO.

Posted by Kulturkampf in United States, 03 Jul 2008 11:55

indyjones, how do you cancel it? I can't figure it out...

Posted by indyjones in United Kingdom, 03 Jul 2008 12:14

i havent canceled it yet, i wont if i can find a way to earn more money and by the way have you seen the new lego batman page for uk and us lego builders!

Posted by Indy 11 in United States, 03 Jul 2008 14:18

Im only into the LEGO Indiana Jones, Star Wars, City, and Creator.

Sell Lemonade. That always works. lol. jk! I havent tried it in years. Unless its given to me as a gift I'm not going to buy it for a long time... Just wait until they move the price down (in a year). Just Kidding :0)

Posted by bigz123 in United States, 03 Jul 2008 15:05

The thing I dont get with the pricing is the the death star II had over 3,000 peices and was $270 USD and with this new death star out it is $400 USD!? it only has little over 400 peices. I think that the death star should be around $310 USD... Thats my opinon.

Posted by Indy 11 in United States, 04 Jul 2008 16:18

bji,
If you mean the Trash compatactor in Star Wars episode: 4 A New Hope. Then... UGH! I wish I could make one on the LEGO Digital Disiner. I could. maybe. I need to send it to you. but I cant. okay, I will explain it the best I can:

1. Make two walls
2. You then need some bionicle kind of piceses.
3. flat pieses on the bottom
4. slidding..........forget it :0(

I dont know how to explain it wthout geiving you my own instructions I make in my head.

Posted by brickzone in Ireland, 06 Jul 2008 07:48

They seem to have put the price up - from €279 here in Ireland, to €399!!!!! Same for some or all of the rest of Eurozone!

What the market will bear?

Posted by mrdoofa in United Kingdom, 06 Jul 2008 09:08

The UK price has gone up! It is now £274.99 instead of £199.99! I always thought that it would be nearer £300.00 and £200.00 seemed a bit cheap for a set this big but it was still a nasty shock.

Posted by legoguysw in United Kingdom, 06 Jul 2008 09:14

THEY CAN'T DO THAT! IT'S SO UNFAIR!
I seriously hate Lego for doing this. If it carries on, then they've just lost another customer.

Posted by indyjones in United Kingdom, 06 Jul 2008 14:19

so does that mean if you have ordered it you must pay the new price :O :(

Posted by Kulturkampf in United States, 06 Jul 2008 16:14

legoguysw, you would seriously stop building lego just because of the price of one set?!

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 06 Jul 2008 17:08

No, kulturkampf, he meant that he wouldn't get the set, not stopping LEGO collecting.

seriously guys can anyone answer my above post coz' if it is im going to have to cancel it

Lego's exchange rates are weird. They are ripping us New Zealanders off by charging less than $450 more dollars on the Ultimate Collector's falcon. It seems that the US dollar is twice the price of the NZ dollar, which is mildly untrue. The exchange rates were correct to lego once upon a time, but now they need to change the rates to adapt to us catching up to the US dollar.

LEGO seem to have two £:$ exchange rates: one for Star Wars and other licenced products and one for other lines.

For Star Wars is's closer to 1:1 and for others closer to 1:2. I did a calculation recently based on prices from the product feeds. If I can find it again I'll dig it out.

I phoned Lego Customer Service this morning and the lady confirmed that if you had previously ordered at £199.99 that's the price you would pay !

As I'd already ordered mine didn't ask as to why the price has now shot-up.

Posted by legoguysw in United Kingdom, 07 Jul 2008 11:11

Kulturkampf, I said if it carried on. I am not happy with the prices. Lego would have meade way more money by selling it at £200, but now they'll make less, because way more people would buy a £200 product than a £275, and so they would make more money.

i can't believe how much its gone up!!! We might as well make a forum on this death star lol

Posted by train_nut in United Arab Emirates, 07 Jul 2008 12:04

haha....that's the second time I've experienced this phenomenom! When I saw that the Death Star was so close to the USD price I dropped everything and ordered two sets at $400 AUD each. A week later what do you know? It has gone up to $630 per set! The first time this happened was when I saw green grocer at $150 AUD per set (same as the USD price). Same thing, weeks later it was up to $250 a set. My rule of thumb - check S@H weekly!

That's good advice train_nut. I purchased green grocer as soon as I saw it for $150 AUD as I knew it was underpriced. When I saw that the Death Star was selling at $400 I knew I had to act quickly, but unfortunately I didn't. This also happened with the roads (7280 and 7281)which were $8 AUD when they came out and are now selling for $15 AUD. I will never buy the Death Star for $630 and I hope that no one does so that Lego will be forced to reduce the price back to what it was.

ah thank you, that helps a lot train_nut!

Posted by legolover94 in New Zealand, 11 Jul 2008 18:47

It was originally NZ$429 but now they have raised it to NZ$800. Almost double the other price. Which i cant afford.=(

Posted by bjl in United States, 11 Jul 2008 20:38

AAAAHH I HAVE NO CHANCE OF GETTING THAT!!!!!!

Posted by bigz123 in United States, 11 Jul 2008 22:49

these prices are way to high. I am going to stick on getting the spider droid, tx-130, at-te, and the republic gunship.

Posted by train_nut in United Arab Emirates, 12 Jul 2008 05:13

this may have been asked many times before but what is Lego's justification for pricing variations dispite the weakened US dollar? why are the aussies and europeans paying more? why do the yanks get it so good?

Posted by ngclarkiv in United States, 15 Jul 2008 02:12

There is no way it was $629.99. The Millenium Falcon was $499.99 and contains more pieces. Plus the LEGO magazines show $399.99. I preordered it :)

Posted by Pizzapieman99 in United States, 15 Jul 2008 14:15

Train_nut, i am pretty sure it is because america is one of the largest consumers of Lego products in the world and they probably feel that if they raise the prices for us then they would lose money cause less ppl would buy although some of our prices our going up , like the bionicle has gone from 8.99 to 12.99 for the same amount of pieces and the Torrent and magnaguard sets are $44 & 54.99 instead of the usual 39 & 49 that that amount of pieces would cost usually.

People who bought the old Death Star (Death Star II-the one that was made incompleted) will be really ticked off now that they have this one out in Lego Market!

My friend has the old one.

Grammar fix-'incomplete', not incompleted.
