Oh my! The price in Czech Rep is insane! Sorry LEGO, but if you'll keep prices so high, you'll have no proper customers in Czech - everyone is buing these bigger models on Ebay etc. - from abroad - and I do not blame them. Often you save more than third of the original price.

£350? Ouch. That's almost half a month's pay for me. I think I'll have to wait until I've paid off all my credit card debt in a year or two before I buy this set.

EDIT: Licensed LEGO sets are just *so* expensive. The Eiffel Tower had roughly the same number of pieces as this Executor set, and yet it was about half the price of the Executor.

Looks great, but I wont be buying from Lego shop Australia. As flyguy suggests we are being asked to pay almost twice the amount a US customer is. Why the rip off? When I buy from ebay and I will save myself $300US and thats with postage to Australia.

I'm sure there is some overly flawed logic as to why the US price is SO MUCH LESS than pretty much the rest of the world. Living in Australia means that you basically NEVER Lego from a retail outlet, or from their website.

Australian retailers wonder why the Australian public has the highest acceptance of online shopping of any country, this is one reason why. Far too many companies (Lego is NOT alone) still think it is 1970 and that the Joe average has no way of rightly knowing just how much something sells for on the other side of the rock. When I can get something for just over half the price (with the trade off maybe waiting a week or two for delivery) why would I even consider paying the local price?

I'm sorry Lego, sort your stuff out! I have plenty of other hobbies competing for my money.....I can easily afford to stop buying your overpriced kits in favour of other things.

When I saw that Australian price, I think my head exploded. Normally I'd be all over paying LEGO out over its horrible Australian prices, but $700 is so outrageously high as to be downright /comical/ and I never really cared about this set anyway, so all I can really do at this point is point and laugh at whatever thought process went through LEGO's head on this one. I just can't see many units of the set being moved at that price, even taking into consideration how devoted the Star Wars fanbase is. No matter how large or detailed it is or how pretty or exclusive the minifigures are, at the end of the day it's still a childrens' construction toy set that's ridiculously priced to the point of being not all that far off being $1000 and that also happens to be a really big lump of grey, and Australian sales WILL ultimately reflect that fact.

I just love being a fan of things where they have absolutely no problem with rupturing the innards of Australian customers (see also: video games in general). Don't you?

I think the price is fair for the size, but when there are so many other great exclusives (cough cough Death Star cough cough) and the MF this set is outnumbered. I'm tellin' ya', should've gone life sized..... :)

I do think the pricing model is a little alienating to me as a fan, it would be good to get a measured view from Lego to explain some of the high level reasons for the differences and in particular consistent lower pricing in the US, I am sure us fans would really appreciate that.

I can understand a small discount in the US due to economies of scale and different VAT rates, but £349.99 = $571.25 when I just did the calculation, and I guess this difference is probably worse in some countries.

Does anybody know what the VAT situation is in the US?, as obviously that is very high in the UK, and heading that way across most of Europe due to austerity measures. I know the USA didnt use to have VAT as such, but had a series of different sales taxes I believe, but I guess these will be lower than the UK, so will account for some of the difference maybe?

There are several factors as to why it may be cheaper in the US. Taxes are one reason, but I believe it has a lot has to do with more consumers. Retailers can buy in higher quanities and get better prices here than someplace with not as many shoppers. We have over 320 million people in the United States and Lego is as popular here as it is anywhere else. I was talking to someone that lives in the London area and she said another factor could be logistics ans gas prices. She said that the US retail distribution is better and gas prices are cheaper.

^Spot on pitfall...it's population, lower sales taxes and ease of distribution throughout mainland USA. Higher volume of sales than anywhere else.

would it be possible for one of the site creators to set up a please explain pertion on pricing? with the site getting told to pull down leaked pics lego seem to hold brickset in high regard. we get so shafted on set prices in australia and with the dollar the way it is at the moment buying online is a no brainer. i payed $235oz (including shipping from the usa) for the technic excavator which was $35 cheaper than on sale in any stores.

I have bought all the other large Starwars sets that Lego have ever produced, but draw the line at this one. We have been told to hold off with the hefty price abusive messages, but why should we, we are the customers and have a right to voice our opinion. We know that Lego look at this site as they continually remove supposedly leaked material.

^ because this is a family oriented site, at which you are a guest, and you've been asked nicely to observe the rules we have here ... I'm guessing you didn't see the abusive language that was being used, otherwise I doubt you would be making a fuss. Also, abusive messages rarely have the intended effect. Additionally I think you massively over estimate how much attention LEGO pay to the member posts; they just care about controlling the flow of information out of the company.

Seriously, if you want LEGO to hear your views, contact them directly. They have a policy of checking all direct customer complaints ... they don't have a policy on doing anything about anonymous posts on fan websites.

selling in stores now too. apparently, after many of the stores started placing in-store orders for shipment of this item direct to customer (with no shipping fee, per LEGO policy), LEGO instructed the stores that they are ok to begin selling early.

People in the U.S., I am 12, and it will take me a year to save up for this set. Our dollar is par, so I am paying $100 more for it. So please stop complaining.

In my earlier comment regarding price abusive text I was refering to comments made against the over pricing by Lego and not to nasty or similar messages, which I clearly did not read as they were removed before I placed my message.
As Bluemoose said, I would have never commented had I known what messages he was refering to.
I agree this is a family site and would never add or agree to messages with that sort of content.
I also have e-mailed Lego and am waiting for a responce.
