How is that head different?

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 28 Aug 2011 16:08

@K-nut: He seems to have a white face. :)

Posted by Ypres in Canada, 28 Aug 2011 16:20

Well the minifig looks quite boring... why does the bag image (background) have to be the most exciting part?

Posted by bob123 in United States, 28 Aug 2011 16:32

thats jack sparrow from the scene in "on stranger tides" when he's in the fountian of youth.

Posted by Higgins in United States, 28 Aug 2011 17:08

Those poly prices are hilarious. Thanks for the laugh. I needed that :)

Another one? I still haven't found the first polybag in stores. I only want 1 Jack Sparrow mini-figure from the POTC theme. I'm not interested in the rest of the theme and have no interest in spending $15 to get the cheapest set just to get a mini-figure.

That Jack Sparrow is a must have for me. Where did this one come out at? Is it another UK promo like 2 of the other Pirates Of The Caribbean Poly Bags? Just Curious.

Posted by Captain Blockbeard in United States, 28 Aug 2011 18:11

I wish this one would come out in my area. It would be a nice, inexpensive way of getting a Jack Sparrow minifigure with his hat.

Posted by Nightshroud99 in Canada, 28 Aug 2011 18:22

Oh wow amazing set... Of course, only good for people who don't collect POTC.

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 28 Aug 2011 18:24

@Higgins: Let me see... *Looks at price* 18.24 BRITISH POUNDS?!? O_O FOR A MINIFIG POLYBAG?!? O_O KRAAAAM!!! :P

Posted by cody6268 in United States, 28 Aug 2011 18:25

Someone would have to be crazy to pay 30 bucks for a minifigure

Posted by BooMakuta! in United States, 28 Aug 2011 19:08

How is it any different?

Posted by PerryMakes in United States, 28 Aug 2011 19:39

$30? No thanks.

Posted by jonbuddy in United States, 28 Aug 2011 20:37

Even though I was a Harry Potter completest, I never bought polys. They're ridiculous!

***Well, I was a completest until 2010. ;-)

Posted by dewballer in United States, 28 Aug 2011 20:55

Nice!!!! but just 1 minfig without any accessories for $30 seems TOO MUCH. I'll rather buy some other set to build in that case at least I can enjoy building lego.

Price gougers. Just like gasoline prices.

Posted by vamproe in United States, 28 Aug 2011 22:19

found another one on bricklink for 14.99
same seller has germ polybag from the cars series

Posted by Savage_Steel in United Kingdom, 29 Aug 2011 04:17

Jack minifigs from some of the other sets sell pretty cheaply on bricklink, if you just want a jack, such as the one from Captain's cabin. But yeah, crazy prices for these, but of course that's not TLG's pricing, just the re-sellers price. I don't blame them for trying to sell them at that price, it's business after all.

Posted by yvo in France, 29 Aug 2011 06:35

Not to offend anyone, but even if this seller is the only one for now to sell this set, just giving the news is OK, but linking to the store seems a bit too much given the SCANDALOUS PRICES.

Posted by Gandalf1 in United States, 29 Aug 2011 13:03

It looks like the Jack Sparrow from Captain's Cabin just with the brown hat.

Posted by Gandalf1 in United States, 29 Aug 2011 13:07

I can barely tell a difference between heads.

Posted by Zeya in United States, 29 Aug 2011 13:41

To me, it looks like the head is the same, but his torso/leg printing has a blue cloak over everything (but under the belt). The older Jack minifig with a tricorne has a brown cloak on.

This really seems like a money grab on TLC's part. But of course I'll buy into it; I did get the voodoo polybag after all.

I really wish they would add a bit more variety to this theme. Everyone likes Jack Sparrow, but how about some bad guy crew members for the QAR, or an undead monkey in a brick-built cage, or something like that?

Posted by LegoCity578 in United States, 29 Aug 2011 14:32

Eh....... Everything in his store is well overpriced.

Posted by max villano in Greece, 29 Aug 2011 16:26

30$ dollars for a different head??No thank you.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 29 Aug 2011 16:42

Let's cut Keith some slack. We don't know how much he paid for them and given they are in short supply at the moment it's a 'seller's market' so he can charge what he thinks the market will bear. Much like the LEGO company, in fact.

If it's too much for you, don't buy one, wait until they become more readily available.

Posted by NeilMartin in United Kingdom, 29 Aug 2011 17:32

It's not true that everything in Keith's Bricklink store is overpriced. Some of his stock is competitively priced. But also Keith has a lot of old and rare Lego taken from sets that he has parted out. Old Lego parts and minifigs handled only for sorting frequently command premium prices. Keith will only charge what the market will bear otherwise he would never sell any Lego. His Bricklink feedback suggests that people are happy to pay his prices for guaranteed quality Lego despatched quickly using quality packaging materials. I for one have placed at least 25 orders in his store over the years and received perfect Lego every time.

It is difficult to know when and where polybag sets will be released and quite often they never appear in many countries. Collectors who must have every set released in a particular theme may be prepared to pay high prices because that is their hobby. Keith won't price a set if he didn't believe it would sell at that price.

Posted by jonboy2000 in United Kingdom, 29 Aug 2011 18:34

Can't be that over priced, it looks like he's sold 2 already! Good luck to the guy. If there wasn't buyers willing to pay prices like these there would be a lot of people on here struggling to fund their lego hobby or make a living.

Posted by yvo in France, 29 Aug 2011 19:03

Well, the fact that there is buyers paying does not mean that the price is fair, but I guess this is an endless discussion.
My point was more that Brickset should share news and even bargains. But I was surprised to see this kind of advertising in this news, given the price was not a bargain. With the set number, people wanting to buy it could just check BL or eBay or whatever by themselves and decide what to do.
But once again, it's just my point of view and I don't intend to bug anyone. Let's focus on the set itself ...

Posted by Rabtastic in United Kingdom, 31 Aug 2011 12:43

A promo like this will shortly become as available as the other bagged promos IMO. Probably something to do with the release of a new game or the DVD of POTC4.

Don't like the price at one store?

Wait...

Posted by dewballer in United States, 02 Sep 2011 06:29

well at least now I know one store I will not shop lol
