Wow...such a crappie deal. I wouldn't spend even half the amount they're asking.

$50 is daylight robbery

And the award for Worst Deal of the Year goes to... Target, selling Pirate of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides for $50! And, to top it off, only offering a cheap little LEGO Black Pearl to go with it! I think we also have a winner for Most Insulting Promo of the Year!

What does OST stand for?

Posted by KillDeer in Canada, 06 Sep 2011 17:04

Its the subtitle of the movie Reviewer, "On Stranger Tides"

No people, since it includes a special 3D version, that makes it "valuable." Give me a break Target. If I want some 3D, I'll whip out my 3DS. I'll probably get the "normal" version on Amazon for half the price and get the bricks for it off Pick-a-Brick. If anyone wants a cheaper value, here it is: it comes to the price of no 3D though. Such a bummer.

EDIT: Wait... I have parents with money... and parents that liked the film... YES!!

It's 50 dollars, and then even more to pay, because you'll have to watch the new movie...bleeusch...

Only on Blu Ray? No deal. At $50 they are acting like pirates :P

Sorry for crashing the hating party, but does anyone know if the polybag can be bought separately?

Posted by bob123 in United States, 06 Sep 2011 18:28

Thats stupid if a person spends $50 USD and gets the mini black peral for free wich is only worth $4 USD thats a huge rip off. By the way target has the worst deals

Posted by Toyz4me in United States, 06 Sep 2011 19:21

$50 for that Blu-Ray!!??!! Who's the pirate now?! yo ho ho...

Posted by commodorelegolas in United States, 06 Sep 2011 20:23

$50! Wow! You can buy a good set for that much! Dang!

And to think they did good discounting on the Cars sets I got back in June. I even got a DVD $3 off a week and a half ago!

I bet if you asked a clerk at Target you can snag this ala carte'.
I picked mine up from a fellow trader on Flickr from Ireland along with the other Newspaper promotions they had accross the pond... http://www.flickr.com/photos/51289111@N05/5920720261/in/set-72157626320844323

You can get them off ebay for a reasonable price, cheaper that $50 anyway. I got one from the newspaper but it's not really worth it, nothing special - worth about the price of the paper is all.

If you click on the link, you'll see that it's actually on sale, probably until it is released, for $35. Still too much money for a Bluray, but better than $50.

There was a similar promotion for the Voodoo Jack Sparrow polybag when you preordered a POTC video game. It seems to have been very scarce. They ended up selling just the polybag on Amazon but only for a window of about 2-3 days, and then you couldn't buy it anymore. I wonder if the same thing might happen with this Black Pearl polybag.

I wouldn't want this polybag for anywhere near the usual $4 asking price. I might buy it if I saw it on steep clearance, but that's just because I'm a Lego addict and can't pass up a deal.

Good thing I have family members in the uk,they picked up all the pirates mini set from the sun and I live in the usa!!!!!

Posted by TBOC in United States, 08 Sep 2011 08:39

It wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have to buy the 3D Blu-Ray version. I'd be fine just buying the normal version.

Posted by natro220 in United States, 08 Sep 2011 09:39

^ agreed, 3D is a fad and will fade away...I can't stand it, it hurts my eyes and gives me a headache.

Posted by Nerd in United States, 08 Sep 2011 15:01

3D is so annoying, and I hate PoTC. Also, I have a MacBook Air (Late 2010), so forget the Bluray.

Posted by llanowarsoldier in United States, 08 Sep 2011 20:26

This exclusive is epic fail as 3D TV's are expensive as he!! and is only catering to the people who can actually afford to blow $50 on the movie. Although, it would be nice if it was a mistake and its available with a normal Blu Ray purchase of the movie.

Posted by bionicle212 in United States, 08 Sep 2011 21:37

what a rip-off.

Posted by Isabella and Lego Liker in United States, 09 Sep 2011 00:52

Agreed.

Posted by The Reviewer in United States, 09 Sep 2011 22:13

If the it were not $50 I would Buy it (3D is not a fad. It is amazing and is prime example of how great it is to live in the twenty-first century instead of the 80s or the 90s) (I just wish it wasn't so pricey)
