Massive LEGO weekend ahead...

This weekend is one of the biggest in the LEGO calendar. Not only are the two of the most important LEGO events happening in the USA and the UK (BrickCon and the Great Western LEGO Show, respectively) but it's also a weekend when LEGO usually take the opportunity to unveil an exclusive set due for release the next year simultaneously at the events.

Last year it was Diagon Alley, the year before, the Imperial Flagship and in 2008 it was Medieval Market Village. However, given that LEGO has only just revealed the mini-modulars last weekend (at Skaerberk), will they have another one up their sleeve? We'll have to wait and see!

If so, we'll certainly try and bring you news of it here, but myself, bluemoose, Martin and DrDaveWatford will all be at STEAM so we might be late with it. So keep an eye out at Brothers-Brick and FBTB, although with some of their staff at BrickCon, they may be late with it too :-)

If you're going to either event, have a great time and if you're at GWLS, do come and say hello. Bluemoose will be manning the show's admin area and I'll probably be behind the main train layout in the large hall.

If you're not, you could be in for a quiet weekend online...

I would suspect they might have another announcement for an exclusive set.

Since the mini-mods is a VIP only.

So, we had buildings, then a boat, then more buildings. So another ship maybe? Maybe...The Flying Dutchman? (And the SBSP Flying Dutchman doesn't count:) Have fun this weekend!

Here's hoping for some good stores and displays at GWLS this year, last year I was a bit disappointed as there did not seem to be as much as usual... It will be my fourth time this year!

I'm privileged to say that I have built the set to be revealed on Saturday and I'm confident that there are no pictures of it available right now. It's an absolutely fabulous set and I'm sure you are all going to love it when you see it. Dr Dave will be blogging about it the moment it's announced, so do check back here on Saturday morning!

I'm guessing an all new Wayne's Mansion/Bat Cave, if it's a licensed set, or perhaps something with the new Queen Amidala model. No, wait, would they make something up, using a license? Probably not... so it would have to be something that exists within the license. Hmm... think, think... If not licensed, maybe a Cinema/Theatre for the Modular Buildings line. I can't think of much else that would blow my mind. Jabba's Palace? Maybe a doughnut shaped Cloud City recreated akin to the Death Star playset, with all the ESB scenes happening within an outer-circle of rooms, and the Vader-Luke confrontation opening out into the central-hole, for luke to fall down it and out through the trap-doored bottom? THAT i'd LOVE.
