    4000002: LOM 2011 Moulding
    Miscellaneous/LEGO Internal, 2011
    More details...
    ©2011 LEGO Group

This morning's trawl of the instructions at LEGO.com revealed this set, 4000002 'LOM 2011 Moulding'. Given it's in the same number range as the 4000001 Moulding Machines Inside Tour exclusive, this is also presumably some sort of 'insider' exclusive.

The instructions, which you can download from the set details page, reveal that LOM = LEGO Operations Mexico and that this is a model of the second moulding plant in Mexico which has just been completed.

So, I'm guessing that this is a model presented to those involved in the project, and therefore will be pretty hard for collectors to get hold of.

(Thanks to brickbuilder Bert who emailed me about it)

Very simple-looking.

EDIT: But when are factories SUPPOSED to look interesting? ;) (Longeberger Basket in Ohio is one) :P

^Except for the printed pieces.

The set looks interesting. An addition to the Architecture line, maybe?

^ LOL ! Somehow I doubt it - hard to see it occupying the same shelf as the Empire State Building, Brandenburg Gate etc...

LegoCity578 is right - I had almost everything on hand and the few I didn't are on order, except for those printed tiles. Not as distinctive as the other Architecture models, but I don't mind putting it on the same shelf.

Absolutely nothing special... even strange

^^^Yes, good point, it doesn't look half as nice. :)

Blah! nothing unique here

With the exception of the stickers, anyone can build their own here.

This set will be worth garbage. I mean whats this made of? 1X4 Plates, 2x2 Plates, 2x8 Plates? LEGO needs to have at least SOME special rare/exclusive pieces.

^Why do you say that?

Posted by LegoCity578 in United States, 08 Oct 2011 21:55

^ Well, other than the stickers, its all extremely common pieces.

Guys, despite the fact it is largely made of common parts, as this is believed to be an employee only set it will be extremely sought* after for this reason. It would be interesting to know about the quality of packaging and the instruction, they may have other details included such as history of production, expansion to Mexico etc...

*You can read extremely sought after as very expensive.

Just my thoughts.

^ I agree, you mean the complete box will be a collectable - the contents are almost irrelevant!

As much as this set may be nice to own, I'd still rather have the instructions for it's sister set, the "4000001 Moulding Machines Inside Tour exclusive". Anyways, I've downloaded the instructions just in case TLG pulls them from the cache. Nothing special but that goes for the Robie House as well, wouldn't you agree?

For the outsider it's not a great set but if I was an employee and worked on the project and got this as a little present, it would have sentimental value and in the long run, monetary value as well.

If those little 1x1 Round Plates with Knobs are true green (the regular Bricklink color green), then I don't believe those pieces have ever been released before in that color.

Anyone noticed that the building instructions does not match the picture of the model itself.. Look at the two 2x2 plates on top!

Since this talks about a new set, I'll be talking about new Star Wars sets: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=58035&st=1965&p=1092725&#entry1092725 Unwatermarked 2012 Star Wars sets. If the moderators delete this, I'll give up. :P
