    Rod "Torque" Redline Event Kit By all accounts it seems that there was pandemonium in most TRUs, with queues of parents and kids and 'fights' over bricks, trying to build this model. Ace has posted an account of his experience and nice pictures of it at FBTB.

    Polybag collectors need not worry: it's not an official packaged set, the only unique part of it is the sticker sheet.

I'm pretty sure the blue double cheese slope is unique. I don't believe that piece in that color has been included in a set thus far. Nothing to get too excited about, but it is unique to this set.

for what it's worth, i went into my TRU yesterday (durham nc) to get the bricktober magnet and they had a bunch of these lying around still. i just asked the clerk if i could have two for some kids i knew and she gave them to me. happy kids and happy me.

end result, if you want one, may be worthwhile to ask. my clerk wanted to give me next week's star wars poly bag as well but the register wouldn't let her ring it up (no idea what it was - just that it had starwars on the bag).

@fuzzysaurus the SW polybag is the 30055 Droid Fighter which is not available for sale at TRU until 10/23.

My TRU was not very busy. It was a nice event. As Huw stated, the only item that is unique is the sticker sheet.

I ran the event at my TRU. I had labelled the boxes with how many of the certain piece you would need. All the boxes were lined up so the event would run smoothly with little to no confusion. It seemed as though roughly 150 sets could be made with the supplies my store received and we still have 30 or so left over.

My daughter and I were at our local TRU on Saturday as well.
i think this was one of the best Lego events so far.
well organized, great staff working on it. Plus they let us take an extra set for my other daughter who was at home.

I'll check latter today to see if they have any extra sets left.

OFF TOPIC: we also played the demo of the new skylanders spyro game they had going....it's a cool game, very interactive, every character you change or put in the game, changes the game play a little.

Cool, I like Cars the movie, but as there is no Toys R Us in NZ then I am not getting it.(unless it's on Trademe)

Went to the event on my nearest store in Coral Springs, FL and it was running quite smoothly. All my 3 little ones left with their cars, however, I found last years event more interesting (the one you build and race). We've built 3 cars with about 400 pieces each last year, and took them home. A bunch of extra colorful parts for the kids! This year it was clear the intention of promoting the line of Cars sets, which will probably run for another season at store's shelves due to it's popularity.

I still think the event could have been better had they seperated the pieces and sticker sheet into the bags before anyone showed up. Then when people started showing up for the event, hand out the predone bags. Are you listening Lego?!? If they had done it that way, there wouldn't have been rude people reaching into the boxes and grabbing pieces for their kids to play with before the event even started!! Luckily there was another TRU near me so we got 9 total. Sold 3 on ebay and am trading one to someone in the UK for Grem. Toys n bricks is reporting that Kmart was also doing a free Kego event as well. They were giving out the kingdoms archery polybag on Saturday from 12-1. Missed that one though.

@starfire2 how can you complain people were being rude when you obviously took more than you needed.

i was planning on going to the event, but didn't work out.
Guess it wasn't too much of a loss since I didn't see CARS 2.

i didn't take more than i needed. I have 3 kids, plus me and my husband. We went to 2 stores and I didn't just reach into the box BEFORE the event started and got handfulls of the pieces to give to my kids to play with. I stood in line like a decent person. There was plenty to go around after we got ours and then some.

@ Starfire2 9 is a little much...... my TRU actualy ran out with people wanting. You, yourself said you only needed 5.....anything over that was just greed !
Considering the build was for actual kids and not AFOL......TRU was being nice to let "older" fans get one.
I also was happily surprised that they let me get one for my other daughter who was not with me.

To take something meant for kids, sell it and brag about it.............LOW......LOW.....LOW

moments like this make me ashamed to be an AFOL.....it give collectors and fans a bad name.

whatever. It is what it is. If people are willing to pay the price on ebay then so be it. I'm not the only one. As for the TRU, you were at running out, sorry about that but the 2 near me still had a bunch left after the event. So obviously I wasn't depriving anyone of having a chance to get one. And yes, I do know they had more because I went back to both yesterday to buy some Lego sets and both still had some at the customer service counter.

I'm not sure I'm seeing how this is any different from the standard happenings with polybag giveaways, unofficial set status aside, and I don't think anyone ever complains about AFOLs stocking up on those. The (presumably heavily publicised) event has already happened and concluded, so the target audience isn't being deprived any more than they would be were AFOLs not cleaning up the remnants. Let's be honest, how many children/parents outside the more informed echelons of the LEGO community (which ultimately is the small minority, remember, especially when divided into specific cities/towns) would even be aware that you could pick up leftover ones, and thus would try and possibly be disappointed by none being left because of AFOLs? Not all that many, I'd imagine.

I've been to four TRU LEGO events, and by far this was the best run event yet. The parts were divided into bins, and each bin had a sticker showing the part in the bin and how many you needed. They gave each of my kids a bag and instruction sheet, and my kids had a blast putting these together.

Compare that to the Bricktober 500 event last year, where they had all of the parts thrown on a table, and since some greedy people were building cars with 6 wheels, even arriving only 15 minutes into the event, one of my kids ended up with a car with no wheels so he couldn't race it on the track, and my other kid got nothing.

Before the event, I had stopped at Target to see if they had any City Campers in stock, since they were on sale, but they didn't. While there, we ran into a family looking for minifigs. Target didn't have any, so I suggested TRU since they were 2/$5, plus I told them about this event. I saw them at TRU, and it felt great sharing this opportunity with another family.

I've got to say that adults building sets for themselves is borderline, but I can understand it (why should kids get all of the fun?). However, taking sets to sell on ebay is definitely over the line.

A lot of TRU stores run out during these events, and if you're showing up during the event you have no way to know if your greed left some kid crying later in the day (been there, done that, see paragraph 2 above). If I happened to find out that my TRU had leftovers, I might pick up a set for one of my 3 nephews who love LEGO, or donate them (my kids schools, Toys for Tots, Salvation Army, whatever)... but you can be sure I wouldn't be selling any on ebay. However, it's a moot point since I'm guessing based on a comment above from another local that my TRU is out.
