Advent day 7

Day 7I'm glad to see the City calendar has continued with a Christmas theme today, with two presents and skateboarder accessories. Maybe we'll get the actual skateboarder tomorrow...

Day 7The Star Wars one isn't too exciting today but at least Chewie gets a crossbow which some of you were hoping for, along with some tools. I had wondered why there were tools until I was reminded at Wookiepedia that apparently he is a skilled mechanic and designed many of the Falcon's systems. The dark grey barrel is a nice piece that, although first made in 2008, hasn't appeared in many sets since.

Or.... if you turn the tools upside down and put those white 1x1 round bricks on them, you could have Toilet-Roll-Flinging-Contests!

The possibilities are endless :)

This was really a dull entry. Though my 2 year old was very happy to use the hammer to go "pow-pow" on the floor. I was happy to see the grey barrel. I didn't have one yet. I was disappointed, however, to see that the crossbow was not black, as the front of the box appeared to indicate.

Love the presents.

The presents are nice, a skateboard is always useful, pretty standard. The crossbow stand thingy is not too bad, I like to see the grey barrel like everyone else, but I wish the bowcaster/crossbow were black.

I am not a fan of the skateboards, they don't feel like LEGO to me, more like something you get inside a Kinder Egg here in the UK.

I think the crossbow and tools were a good day as it represented Chewies character as a mechanic as lego never does. Looks as though each minifig will be a 2 day build(1 day for minifig and next day assorted acessories for the character or a small build

I was hoping that the crossbow would be plain black not white or gray.

I agree i was hoping for it to be black as i still dont have a chewie with a crossbow

Am I the only one that thinks the presents would have looked better with a 1x1 sloped tile rather than just a flat?

Yay Christmasy! :) They look pretty cool, and for once I think city set is better.

The bowcaster would actually be more accurate in dark metallic grey, the color of the weapons the Dragon Knights use in the new castle theme.

I agree that both entries seem relatively simple today, though the Christmas touch in today's city is welcome. My question: Since they have already given the tree and presents, what on earth are they going to do on the 23rd and 24th? As long as there is not a repeat of last years shower Santa (cannot unsee!) or somthing like it, I will be happy.

This is for the first time I like the City calender entry more than the SW calendar. Brick made X-mass packages are just cute.

And also I was expecting different color for Bowcaster. To have it in "dark metallic grey" like mentioned above would be super cool and rare.

It actually exists, but mine is tied up in a Dragon Knight archer minifig. I don't think it is common though.

if you get Echo Base(2011) it comes with a black bowcaster for chewie

That barrel actually was in 10030 UCS Imperial Star Destroyer so it first appeared in 2003? 2004? in that color. Go to Lego.com, customer service, search for 10030 and you'll find the gray barrel in the list of pieces you can replace. I also know because I own the set and all my pieces are the remade colors, no original colors of Gray, all Bluish Gray.
