Brickset traffic review of the year

  • Brickset traffic review of the year

At this time of year I like to review Brickset's usage statistics and share them with you. As I posted the other week, Brickset had its busiest month ever on 4th December, and in fact, as predicted, looking at the figures today, the numbers are still increasing. I suspect they will peak just after Christmas.

This graph, from Quantcast, showing the number of unique visitors per month, shows the growth the site has seen since July 2008. The peaks conicide with December of each year.

    Brickset Traffic

The figures from Google Analytics below show that we've experienced a 43% growth in the number of visits and visitors in 2011:

    2011 2010 2009
    Page views 49,404,168 40,447,000 25,434,000
    Visits 11,408,177 7,926,000 4,556,000
    Visitors 3,895,394 2,719,000 1,766,000

So things are definitely heading in the right direction. How high can it go, I wonder?

^ I don't think it's us you need to encourage, Alemas - given that it's a graph of unique visitors per month, I assume we're already counted and we only count once......!

Nearly 50 million page views in 2011 - spectacular !

@DrDave: Hm, can we refresh the home page constantly to get 50 million page views? :P

What's your bounce rate look like?

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 18 Dec 2011 10:41

Yeah! That is what we like to see, it is interesting to see how the traffic changes over each year. The low point in Spring and then a build up to the high point in December.

*gives sincere standing ovation*

It is amazing how much Brickset has grown since I first laid eyes on the site in 2007/2008. Unless my eyes decieve me, the end of any of the peaks on the chart are NEVER lower than the beginning of the peaks. You guys really DO attract loads of people! :D

Great job everyone, and I can't wait for another magnificent year!

^ Nearly 4 million people have visited this site in this year alone? O_O

Awesome numbers! Literally! I don't think the growth will slow down as long as LEGO remains popular. As new people and new generations get into the LEGO hobby, the numbers will only grow! Keep up the awesome work! (c:
I predict that you will finish december with 450,000 unique visitors, then drop back down to about 300,000 in January. If I get it right do I get a cookie? (c;

Looking at http://www.quantcast.com/brickset.com I'm happy to see I'm part of the top 1% in one regard: Traffic Frequency. ;-)

Can you find out how many people, excluding you, visited your profile?

Posted by KillDeer in Canada, 18 Dec 2011 14:16

Why do you always chart time backwards? 2011, 2010, 2009? Shouldnt time increase towards the right not decrease?

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 18 Dec 2011 15:11

I agree with Thomson and Thompson, a way of seeing how many people have viewed your profile would be a great feature if it is possible to add it.
