Brickset app for Windows Phone 7

If you are a Windows Phone 7 user and have been wishing there were some LEGO-related apps for the platform, you're now in luck.

Brickset user Nico Maas has just released LEGO Tracker to the Windows Phone marketplace. The description reads "A brickset.com client for windows phone. Keep track of your LEGO collection. Find the sets you own or want and navigate to building plans, reviews and more.

    - Search by set-number
    - Search by free text search terms
    - Store the sets you own or want
    - View details about sets with links to building plans, reviews and more.

I don't have a WP7 but I have a friend who does so I got to try LEGO Tracker for myself today. It's incredibly slick and polished, and is probably the best mobile app that hooks into Brickset that I've seen.

You can record sets your own and sets you want into it, but you can't currently synchronise with your Brickset account. Nico hopes to add this in a future version.

If you want to find out about specific sets or themes while on the move with your WP7 device, this is a must-have app.

Now all we need is an Android one. Anyone up for the challenge?

Be great to see it on the Android and will it be a big job to sync to Brickset?

I noticed that there are two Brickset apps for iPhone, but I didn't download either because I wasn't sure if they were genuine or not. They're called Brickset, by Kellino, and iBrickset by Umeed Kothavala. Are these apps authorized by Brickset? I don't want to download a fake or unauthorized one...

I am sure all three WP7 users will be happy for this.

I seem to be unable to login or access my sets, any help?

Posted by Hobie819 in United States, 05 Jan 2012 22:47

Section 8 - as posted by Huw, you cannot currently log into Brickset using the app. Currently you need to manually add each set you own to populize the sets you own tab (to my knowledge). Hopefully in the future it'll have that functionality (also posted by Huw above =))

It's a good app for 99 cents~

Now there is Iphone and Windows phone, but why no Android :(
The most phones are Android.
I'm sure there is a Brickset user who can create good quality apps for Android :) Now, let's hope that user want to create one ;)

@Jay Kenobi ZX, yes they are authorised by Brickset.

Wow this looks neato, very slick ;)

I make android games, in my spare time so if you want me to give it a go?

^^ Several people have API keys with the intention of creating an Android app but I haven't seen any progress yet, so if you're up for the challenge then go for it!

^ Why should you expect it to be free? Nico has spent time and probably money on developing it. Should he not be rewarded for his efforts? Do you not think he should be encouraged to continue to develop it?

79p is not really going to break the bank, is it?

What about Iphones can it be done for that?

Posted by TheCahleySlash in United Kingdom, 06 Jan 2012 16:34

^^Yeah I'll give it a thought, but with all my work ive got at the moment, I may not have the enough time to do it :?
^There is one and its been around for quite some years now.

@Huw, Brickset Mobile for the iPad/iPhone was free.

Posted by Blitzr in Australia, 07 Jan 2012 00:41

I say Kudos for giving it a go.

But..........

Regardless of price, you are paying for a program that in fact does nothing (in fact it does quite somewhat less) that could not already be done simply by using IE on the phone and accessing your account on Brickset that way.

I have created a Lego news app for iOS... could you give me permission to add BrickSet as a news source?

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 07 Jan 2012 08:09

^ Hereby granted!

Posted by Nerd in United States, 07 Jan 2012 08:33

Cool! I already had it created and approved by Apple, but I didn't want to release it yet. Now I have. It is called BrickNews and you can buy it on the App Store. Currently it works with the iPhone and iPod touch only, but I am working on an iPad version.
