    There have been rumours that the next modular building would be a town hall for, oh, at least a year. Now, pictures have emerged on a Romanian toy shop website. I can't actually find them there, but someone has posted them to Eurobricks so you can check them all out there.

    It weighs in at 2766 pieces which is more than the other modular buildings. I have to say, I'm lovin' all that dark orange!

    Update: bonaparte at Eurobricks kindly sent me the direct link to the set at the shop.

    Update: The Brickset effect has struck again. The page at the Romanian shop, linked to above, has been removed, probably as a result of TLG reading this article or the Eurobricks one. I hope you saved the images!

Wow... that's a monster! Really liking that clock face and the globe.

I've always liked the modular line, though I've never actually bought any, given that my brother usually gets in first. Still, he's gone to Uni, so the stay-at-home student gets the floor space now... this will probably be my first of the lot, just hoping it doesn't set me back £150...

This looks absolutely fantastic! I love the camera with the big flash the woman is holding next to the bride and groom. I agree with Legocrazy1234 and estimate this at around £140-150.

I really like the dark orange, too, but this building is pretty box-y. I'm sure that I'll get it, but this has to be one of my least favorite in the modular line. Hopefully there's something that I'm missing that makes this one more special than it looks to me now.

Every city needs a town hall. Oddly enough this set looks plain and gorgeous at the same time. I will have to see the price before making a decision. If it's too expensive then I might just get the pet shop instead.

On the Romanian website the set is 899.99 lei. Converted to Canadian dollars it's $267.47. I'm hoping LEGO sells this set for $229.99 CDN but it may be closer to $249.99 CDN. It could be as high as $279.99 CDN.

I have been looking forward to the next modular and am happy that TLG has continued the line. Though this is similar to the Fire Brigade in looks, it seems to have a personality all its own. Looks great to me! As others mention, the typical $149 price commanded by the modulars probably won't be matched this time due to the parts. This one will certainly be added to my layout when released.

This is a great-looking addition to the line! But it does look a bit large beside the Pet Shop.
I won't be surprised when this comes in at $229.99+ CAD. Has best start racking up those VIP points...

The modular building series are absolute must buys. For me the town hall takes the cake, including the GG and CC. I wonder how the additional height of the town hall will look next to the other buildings.

This set looks amazing, it looks like its going to dwarf all the other modular buildings, it towers over them. I'm guessing this will be at least £150-£200. Does anyone know when it's due to be released?

I like how LEGO used the date 1891 (Ole Kirk Christiansen's year of birth). Just like with the Fire Station's 1932 year.

I am definetely liking this set. I got my first modular building last year and I love it. I just hope the price is raised too much with the high amount of pieces this set has. My wallet will be crying in pain.

The average price per piece on the modular buildings (excluding Market St.) is US6.95c - multiply that by 2766 and you get $192.17. I would be willing to wager that a realistic price point on this one would be $199 in the US.

Another great set by TLG. I have to admit though that the fact his appears taller than all the other modulars bothers me. It means that it won't blend in as well and will in fact, stick out a fair bit. Other than that though, this is IMO a magnificent set, although we're yet to see any details of the interior.

As for the price, well in Oz we're used to the price fluctuating on these modulars. The GG was $250aud in 2008, then in 2009 FB cost $299! It came back down to $250 for GE in 2010, then last year, I had to fork out $269 for PS. I shudder to think how much this is going to be here if rumours of a USD price is around the $200 mark.

It's a very nice building, but a town hall doesn't sit in a street-scape, it sits proudly as a central stand-alone building. This set is a little hit-and-miss....

It's ok. When I heard LEGO will release a town hall I had in mind a set with three of the typical modular town hose base plates to make the building look wider (somehow like the wide town halls you can see in the amican movies including a nice arrangement of roman pillars). To me now it looks compressed somehow and the entry is far too small and does not really fit to the rest of the building in terms of architectural elements. It's more a "Fire Station second design recycling thing" but still acceptable.

Whatever the American price is, tack on $50 and you'll have a reasonable estimate of the Canadian price for the modular buildings. I still don't understand the price differential since the Canadian and American currencies have been near parity for years now.

^Dollar parity is irrelevant. Canada can't match America's economies to scale (which spread fixed costs over a population more than 7x larger), lack of taxes/duties, less regulation and dirt cheap distribution cost.

Everything is cheaper in America, not just LEGO, and that won't change anytime soon. Even a German-built Mercedes is about 35% less in the U.S. than in Germany.

That's a deception. I was really expecting something much better. They should have made it lower, and wider, based on more ancient buildings, with grey tones. Totally agree with SHAASE, I was expecting something like what we see in back to the future. That's just another three storey house.

Also, for people that think it's too tall, just remove the 2nd or 3rd floor. It even seems reasonable to make it two buildings with the roof and ground floor as one and the 2nd and 3rd (with simple custom roof) another.

I really Like this design. Nice features with the Belltower and clock (ok, we saw the bell on the earlier Firebrigade, but he.. so what!). As for the year inscription, but I think that ingenius designing ought a second installment. The orange color is Fine with me, being from The Netherlands :-) I think the flower beds on the 1 floor windows resamble the "Petshop" so the street will become nice and green! Cool entrance with the Roman collums. Can not wait to see the interior. For those who did not see. There are more pics to be found on the Flickr.com website. Go and have a look.

sorry to sound negative, but this is the 1st building i feel dose NOT fit in. a town hall would not be a modular building. like next door to a pet store and a grocery store.

and the price is too high. and looks kinda plain.

The page has been removed from that Romanian site because they've got just one box and I've took it this morning. I think it was a mistake that they've received it so early because when they opened the transport box they found a note or something saying that they should not sell it before 1st of February or 1st of March (I don't remember exactly), but it was too late because they debited by credit card...
I will upload pictures tomorrow, it's too dark in Romania now ... and we have no electricity ... :P

This is definitely a cool set and I will certainly purchase but have to agree with broomhandle, it does not really fit in with the other modular buildings. The execution is spot on, especially with some of the details I've seen pictures of and the amount of mini figs, but the concept could have been more thought out. I'm not sure about the success of the sets as a whole anymore though. FB is still in many Lego stores and PS has been out for a bit. GG was pulled from the shelves months after GE was on sale. Something seems amiss... Anyone else?

@tyrannosaurusphil, Sorry but I disagree. Remember that FB was released quite late in 2009 unlike most other modular buildings which have been released in March-Apil timeline.

Also the many hits and comments on Eurobricks and Brickset shows that this them is just as popular as ever.

Sure is that Lego is not going to please everyone with every set, But in a hole this series is still on of the best they have conceived, and also hope it will continue for many years to come!

@grogall, I do not mean to say that the series as a whole is not great. As a fan of Lego since age 5 (I'm 26 now ) I wholeheartedly agree that the modular series is fantastic. And when I speak of success, I meant from a monetary standpoint, like, FB is still on shelves so maybe they're looking to sell more before they stop offering it and it's simply not selling. I think the sets are hit for true Lego fans but for the common passers-by or casual fans they may not be luring in as many as expected. Of course, these are all just theories a teacher thinks about when he's grading papers and the like and there could obviously be much more to it than what is said here. As always, I am open to anyone and all comments and opinions.

Too big, too expensive, not for me- I can buy a PS3 for that much.

I also have a Town Hall already, it came in the Town Plan with an awesome garage, a movie theater, and sweet vintage cars.

How much will it be in USD? I hope they don't charge more than the previous Modular Buildings, or else it will be more difficult to get this one.

I think the Town Hall modular building looks much better than the Town Hall from the Town Plan set even if the former looks plain and blocky in the upper levels. What I loved about the Town Plan set is that you also got a nice looking retro cinema, a gas station with a car wash, vintage cars and a pond. I would prefer to get the Town Plan set for those reasons but it's not available anymore and was never available in Canada.

Waiting for interior shots of this one. It seems to have more depth than the others, with about half the "backyard" that GG and FB have, so the inside should be very roomy. Hope the price doesn't go up too much, $150 is painful for me as it is.

A cinema is a great idea. I think the modular style may be too restrictive in terms of design though. The cinema may end up being too blocky.

I would like to see a classic Theater. With a grand entrance, and staircase , chandelier and a stage and orchestra pit.. I don't know may be something that looks more of a european theater . In order to make it right there should be 2 sets of Modular Theater (something like part 1 and part 2) so it can be the right size. Just an idea :))

Someone reported € 179,99 from a phone call with the customer service earlier this week but he didn't told when they'll release it - February or March?
