    Smashing Bricks has posted pictures of the forthcoming Disney Princess sets, scanned from a retail catalogue, which I think are the first to appear on the Internet.

    These pink and purple sets feature Snow White, Cinderella, Prince Charming and Sleeping Beauty and are bound to go down a storm with little girls and probably a few older ones as well... :-)

I think I might give these ones a miss. Should be popular though as ponies and princesses tend to be pretty popular!

Meh not really my scene, never had duplo, but wouldn't mind if they made this theme into system scale.

I really wish Disney and LEGO's partnership would fall under one Blanket Systems Style creations to be perfectly honest. It's been interesting the past few years seeing Prince of Persia, Toy Story, Cars even Winnie the Pooh and these Princess sets from the Duplo brand, but without any films to push the products Disney's LEGO sets tend to stick around a lot and you rarely get to find anything after a while that you haven't seen Disney do 100 times over with their own Toy Brands.

I guess what I'd really like LEGO and Disney to do is to combine all of these different Themes into one Disney Brand, you could still have a few Duplo versions thrown in under the Disney Brand Name, but I'd seriously like to see stuff like...

Disneyland Main Street USA with Mickey and Minnie Cast Mini-Figures. Yellow Flesh or Pink Flesh basic Mini-Figures in the typical Mickey and Minnie costumes similar to the Gorrila Suit Guy or Monster Suit Guy from Collectible Mini-Figures.

Or a Disny Classics Series of Sets, like a combination of the Light Cycle Scene from TRON (the original) and instead of just having More Tron sets in a Tron Sub-Theme instead have perhaps a Swiss Family Robinson Island Set or an Old Yeller Farm Set. The Parent Trap, elegant Boston Manor with Susan and then California Ranch with Sharon.

I just think that LEGO is being too limiting with their Disney Brand Sub-Themes as they are now, they aren't being Creative or Ambitious enough to really aim at getting more older Disney fans to share the LEGO wealth with their children and such.

Also, I was kind of hoping when I first saw Cinderella's Castle for a System based set rather than Duplo, Duplo is all well and good for the young kids, but I have none in my life yet and so no interest in these items despite my love of all things Disney.

They look cute though. But Disney has over 75 years of material that LEGO could draw upon, why just limit themselves to one or two popular themes based on Film Releases and then being swamped in the LEGO island with a million and one CARS sets that most kids won't buy three weeks after the film is out of theatres. A constant rotation of Disney themed sets would offer greater variety and better all-around for the fans, the retailers who won't be stuck with all the excess sets a year or two down the line and of course... the companies involved.

These would be great if they were minifig scale. Even my two year old prefers that scale over duplo.

I tend not to consider Brickipedia to be a credible source given its nature, you can't be sure of the provenance of its material. Plus, it's so horrible to look at and use, I never visit.

I heard this on NPR. It is interesting article on the commercialization of pink and how one mom thinks toy companies and marketers are brain washing girls into accepting pink and the "princess" persona as the defacto identity in order to sell to and keep girls in a limited category for marketing maximization.

I know my daughter hates pink but loves purple. All of her lego and toys are common color to provide exposure to all colors as equal.

Soooo... does this mean we will see the return of Duplo Castle sets for boys? Though I already paid an arm and a leg for the discontinued sets; I doubt I would get any new Duplo since they will be old enough in a couple years for the Lego sets I've been stockpiling? Well unless it's a Really Cool Duplo Castle!

My daughter is just leaving the age of Duplo and I'm glad I won't need to be getting these for her. Frankly, they look really disappointing. A few years back Mega Bloks had a line of Disney Princess sets and we bought the Sleeping Beauty bedroom set. While the quality of their plastic was a bit below Lego's, their set had many more original mold pieces, and all the character pieces (including fairies, birds and a rabbit) were real figures and not just an image printed on the side of a brick. In short, those guys we always badmouth in these forums did a much better job on the same item. Here is a link so you can compare.

If my daughter was still 2 or 3 years old, I'd consider these sets. As she isn't and has shown an honest interest in the Friends line.... I'll be picking up Friends sets for her due to her age and interests.

@AETerry - Yeah, my daughter is 5 1/2 now and the other night saw a TV advert for the Friends sets. She had the most amazing look on her face. She was transfixed with a mixture of curiosity and surprise. Like, hey this is Lego... but something... more. I guess there will be some Friends sets in our future.
