Tomorrow, it's Toy Fair!

  • Tomorrow, it's Toy Fair!

Posted by Huw, 23 Jan 2012 16:56. Filed under Brickset.

The first toy fair of the season, the London Toy Fair, starts tomorrow and I will be there. I have an appointment at the LEGO stand and I'll be reporting what's on show.

If it's anything like previous years, I won't be allowed to take photographs so don't expect any images but I do intend to make copious notes and will describe what I see there tomorrow afternoon or evening.

If there's anything you want me to look at specifically, post a comment and I'll see what I can do.

The other toy fairs coming up are Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair in Germany on 1-6th February and the New York Toy Fair, 12-15 February. LEGO is usually a bit more lenient at these events and phototography will probably be allowed so you won't have to wait too long for pictures to appear.

What expect, new Sw, city mining, some more Ninjago , big technic, big creator as well as the already existing dino and also more sup hero, the awesome lord of the ring and the strange new monster fighter theme.

Sadly, I don't think any more Harry potter, dino or Alien conquest will appear for the summer.

Posted by just2good in United States, 23 Jan 2012 17:17

Please look for the LEGO Phineas and Ferb board game/sets, Monster Fighters, and Superhero sets!

Posted by Jay Kenobi ZX in United States, 23 Jan 2012 17:19

I don't mean to ask for much, and if you think it's too much then by all means forget my request, but, I'm interested in any The Lord of the Rings stuff on display and Star Wars. That's pretty much it. OH and if you see anything Super Heroes that has to do with The Flash, PLEASE let me know. But since he's DC, and this wave (I think) is only Marvel, they may not have him. Thanks Huw. :)

Posted by milkbottlec in United Kingdom, 23 Jan 2012 17:24

Do they have any limited stuff give out in the event?
And what did they have last year on the counter?

Posted by aquafreak125 in United Kingdom, 23 Jan 2012 17:28

Totally psyched about the Marvel wave!! Especially the Avengers sets, hopefully there will be some TDKR sets too!

Posted by itsaturkey in United States, 23 Jan 2012 17:29

If it wouldn't be too much to ask I'd like to hear what the Phineas and Ferb game, Star Wars and LotR. Also any Creator houses. Thanks a lot!
EDIT: Oh and maybe HF and those Minecraft sets.

Please find out information about the 2012 Summer Star Wars sets and minifigures as well as information regaurding the UCS B-Wing and R2-D2. Thank you very much.

Posted by legomaniac in United States, 23 Jan 2012 17:34

Can't wait to hear about the fair. :D

Also the New York Toy fair is where pictures will be taken. I want to see the big Technic set this year, among other sets too :)

Posted by 14sswain in United States, 23 Jan 2012 17:44

I'd like to know about the apparent functions for all three Technic sets, and the color scheme and wheel sizes for 9393 tractor. Any information about the motors used in 9397 off-roader set (any new ones?) would also be nice to know about.

Posted by legos in United States, 23 Jan 2012 17:46

Can you find the hp character book? also can you look for the phineas and ferb board game? Thanks!

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 23 Jan 2012 17:48

It goes without saying I'll be looking at LOTR and SW sets!

Posted by Bobszaar in United States, 23 Jan 2012 17:50

I say that you should find anything Star Wars, particularly if there's any Old Republic ships/scenes, Marvel, particularly Spider-Man, and any Lord of the Rings/Hobbit sets (with Gandalf).

Posted by Blazer317 in United States, 23 Jan 2012 17:50

Hey huw, see if you can find any marvel superhero sets.

Posted by Andrew85 in United Kingdom, 23 Jan 2012 17:51

Pricing and release date for the new Modular would be very helpful! Also any other exclusives for the rest of the year with the exception of the 5 we know about so far.

Posted by Thomson & Thompson in Canada, 23 Jan 2012 17:55

Ooh, let me see here, back in a sec...

OK. The 2nd wave SW sets and LOTR sets, of course would be nice, but also 10226 Sopwith Camel. As well, the 2 SW UCS sets, the B-Wing and R2-D2. Thanks, Huw.

Any specifics on the marvel and monster fighters sets naturally. I think collectively we want details on everything Huw. ;)

Posted by Thomson & Thompson in Canada, 23 Jan 2012 18:02

^Yes, details on everything.

Posted by Matthew in United Kingdom, 23 Jan 2012 18:04

^^^^^^ and ^^^^^ I doubt exclusives will be there, as they are only sold directly by LEGO, and the point of the Toy Fair is to advertose new products to retailers.

Posted by 18000pieces in United States, 23 Jan 2012 18:10

I'd quite like to know about the Marvel sets, especially minifigs and what US price points it looks like they're going to be at. LOTR as well, of course.

Posted by bigospedros in United Kingdom, 23 Jan 2012 18:18

See you there, hopefully :)

As one or two others have said, any info on the Monster Fighters theme would be greatly appreciated if it's available.

Posted by GhastlyTrolls in Canada, 23 Jan 2012 18:31

I want info on the Ninjago spinners. There's a possible chance you can at least see their character cards. Also, no one knows how set 9447 Lasha's Bite Cycle looks like.

Posted by sci-fi fan in United States, 23 Jan 2012 18:36

I'd be interested in the Marvel stuff, having had descriptions. And whether the leaks we've seen of LOTR and monster fighters have any resemblance to the actual products. I'll also second the interest in Heroica and other interesting board game sets. Please! :D

Posted by refriedbeans in United States, 23 Jan 2012 18:51

Please check out the Ninjago sets! Thanks!

Posted by sebulba in Australia, 23 Jan 2012 18:53

Posted by GeluNumber1 in United States, 23 Jan 2012 18:55

Huw, can you please take notes on Hero Factory, Collectable Minifugures, and Monster Fighters? I'd be thankful if you would.

Posted by lisqr in United States, 23 Jan 2012 19:05

My question is: Is the legs of the new horse mold fixed?

Posted by el_rey95 in United States, 23 Jan 2012 19:25

I just want to know if there will be any more Dino sets!

Posted by Gandalf1 in United States, 23 Jan 2012 20:02

All of the above! :{D At least LOTR, but Star Wars and Marvel too, if you get the chance. Definitely LOTR, though. If you could only choose one theme to see, choose LOTR! :{D

Oh, and I would also like to know the answer to @lisqr's question.

2. Does Iron Man face mask flip open like a visor?
3. Does Deadpool look something like the following? http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/276168 and not this movie junk http://www.mltimelines.net/deadpoolmovie.html

Posted by BrickBob09 in United Kingdom, 24 Jan 2012 10:42

Someone's probably mentioned these, but here's what I'd like to know:

I'd like to know more about SW. Especially new characters and your thoughts on the Malevolence
I'd also like you to have a look at the new Marvel (Superheroes) sets. Sort of things like the characters (like Iron man's helmet), new pieces and your impression of the overall sets :)

Thanks Huw! By the looks of it you'll have to make a note of every new set- best bring a notepad ;)

If series 8 of the Minifigures is there, I'd really appreciate some information. Also, would you be able to describe what the Black Widow Marvel Minifig is like? In the description of The Malovelence it said it included Padme. Could you tell us what she's like? Plus, any information on new female minifigures (if they have new prints, or hairpieces) I'd be interested in that.

I'm also keen to know if the Vampire castle has an interior, and what the inside of the new City hospital is like.

I know it's a lot to ask, but I'm just very excited about these sets!
Thanks very much Huw,
Gregorovich

Can you confirm the construction of The One Ring? Is it a 1x1 round plate with open stud, or a whole new element - hollowed out? Is it truly chromed, or is it the 'ol PotC pearl gold bait-and-switch?

Posted by UtarEmpire in United States, 24 Jan 2012 11:35

Definitely the Marvel sets. I don't know how much you know about Marvel characters, but good descriptions ought to be enough for the nerdier among us to figure out.

Thanks :)

I wonder if there will be any Technic sets there. Would appreciate if you could get any details on any 2H sets, there are loads of rumours that one of the new sets will contain new power functions motors.
