    The Mini-modulars can now be ordered from shop.LEGO.com, but you have to be logged in to be able to do so. Mighty Wanderer emailed to say they were available but when I first looked it said 'coming soon 1st Feb.'

    It seems that if you search for 10230 at LEGO.com and you are not logged in you end up at product landing page that says 'coming soon' but when you click on 'full details' it takes you back to the shop home page.

    So, if you want to order, use these links [UK (£60) | USA ($80) | Canada ($100)] and if you end up at the home page, sign in and try again.

You have to be logged in AND a Lego VIP member because this is a VIP exclusive!

Exactly, I received an e-mail for this set as a VIP exclusive. I'm not too impressed with this set for $80 to get it. Maybe broken up into smaller parts, maybe.

Pass. The Town Hall is starting to grow on me but the cost will probably be prohibitive. While I like the mini-modular set it's not something that I'm interested in buying. I would have preferred if LEGO re-released Cafe Corner. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

Got the email and ordered straight away - was in two minds till I saw the video about them a few weeks ago. Think it's going to be a challenging build.
Also ordered an x-wing, for good measure!

I would love to have these because I don't ever have 250 dollars for the big ones, but 80 is almost too much for minis. I know they are about 10 dollars for 100 pieces, but I just can't do it.

I saw it at a Lego store Sunday. It was just on the shelf with everything else. I don't know if you have to flash your VIP card to buy it (since I didn't), but it's hard to imagine they'd put a restriction like that at a store.

I saw them yesterday on the shelves of the Seattle Lego Shop; ready for purchase for VIP Card holders (which is silly). Pondered over it but not really interested in them. I'm looking for sets for my kids anyway.

I have had it for a week or so from the Milton Keynes store. It is a set for more advanced builders due to the fact you need lots of patience and thought on getting all the 1x1's lined up just right. Builders who are not into this type of build may want to give this a miss. I enjoyed it though. As a bonus to me each builder comes in its own numbered bag and it enabled me to sit in a comfy chair with a beer over several nights watching the telly!

The detail is out standing for a small scale.

I ordered one this morning, along with 16 CMs, and just got the shipping confirmation. Man that was fast! After I placed the order I noticed they finally had the mini Hogwarts train so I called to see if they could add it to my order. They said they couldn't add it to my order (it was already processed) but offered to place the order with free shipping. Thought that was a nice gesture so I ordered 2 mini trains. Such a nice Lego day :)

Honestly, I thought I might like the set, given what Market Street and Cafe Corner sell for on eBay this would be the only way I could own them (please lego, re-release them!). But looking at the pictures, I just am not interested, maybe I just don't like microscale sets. I realize that the price-per-piece ratio is favorable, but I don't want that many 1x1 studs. I think I'm going to pass and save my money for the Town Hall set or another set. $80 with no mini-figures and a bunch of tiny peices? Sounds unsubstantial and like a very tedious build trying to line up a bunch of 1x1 pieces. Not for me.

I picked this up from the Lego store in Pleasanton, CA almost three weeks ago. It's pretty neat, but only if you're really in to the modular buildings. The minis are very cleverly scaled down. They're almost in scale with the microfigs too. The buildings are fun to re-arrange in different layouts since you can do it so easily. I think this set could pick up in popularity if Lego releases another set with the next 4 or 5 modular buildings in mini form in a year or two. Once you can get a whole town going in that scale it gets more interesting.

I bought 2 of these Minis on 1/1/12 at the LEGO store at Water Tower Place in Chicago.
I don't know why TLG waited til almost February to release these online.
Also bought a couple of the Christmas village sets that were marked down!
It's nice that they mark them down right after the holidays, then jack them back up to full price the next year.
Lucky me!!

It's an awesome idea and an awesome set in general...
...but the price! I just can't seem to comprehend a set this small being $79.99! I guess it just looks small to me, but I would think $49.99 would seem overpriced. Besides, I don't really want to buy anything till August. *Gazes dreamily at hmillington's photostream on flickr, marveling at the Middle-earth wonderfulness.*

I just picked up my set at one of the Denver LEGO stores, where they also had the constructed set on display. They should have listed it as a Micro-modular design, as it's more akin to a microscale format (which I like). Although it's not cheap, it still figures to about US$0.052/piece, rather than the usual average of around $0.10/piece.

I did notice that the sign under the boxes said "VIP Exclusive." Is this just an attempt to get more folks to sign up for VIP? I can't imagine them not selling to a customer who doesn't want to sign up with VIP.

Yeah, 100$ for a Mini-Ified Set of the Modulars? I'd rather save up 300$ and get one of the Modulars themselves than waste 100$ on a Mini version of the sets. And I'm not even a VIP member, so I'd have to sign up first and then spend the money on that. Yeah, sorry LEGO just not going to snare me with this set.

Someone much more talented than I PLEASE do the Pet Shop and upcoming City Hall to this scale! It'd be cool if Lego released mini-scale versions of the modulars at the same time the big pieces are released, but until then I'll hope that someone comes up with plans (and a Bricklink parts list). Throw the info on eBay and I'm in!

Bought this from S@H today and cant wait to build. Im sure (knowing LEGO) that they will tie in present and future modulars and have us buying a large and a mini each time.

I think the price is GREAT (even though they're small pieces...1300+ pieces/6 cents apiece and a brick separater too)...and the build is excellent. Great techniques, no repetition and the models are like mini works of art.
They are great for displaying alone or as the whole block.

I hope they do expand on this and do mini Petshop and City Hall too!

If you've ever tried to build in microscale, you've no doubt realized that the part density in the models is usually very high. Also, have you checked out the piece inventory for the set? It has lots of cool bricks, like 22 trans-clear 1x1's...

@Energyarrow- Really? I think that this is a great way to get a nice model, and small bricks for a very low price. With your price, you would make Lego bankrupt; the profit has to come somewhere.

Anywho, this is an excellent set that I plan to get at FULL PRICE!

i bought this set last week because i'm too far behind to start building the Town modulars (and not enough money). this set seemed to be a way for me to enjoy the line... and it worked. i really love the thing. it was a good build, and i think the detail is great.

but the unfortunate side-effect is it has made me more interested in other micro-scale sets... like the Tower Bridge and Maersk ship. if i end up buying those, the cost of buying the full-sized modulars won't look as bad, so i might start buying those too!

anyway, these are really cool buildings, and i have NO regret paying $80 for them.

Saw this in the store yesterday. It actually looked better in real life and I can see that it will sit very nicely on my desk. The build is different from other modulars, and the price is really not bad (when I say that for our ridiculous Canadian pricing, it means that). An interesting set, but I can't see myself buying it now when 3 existing modular sets are on the market and one coming later this year, that makes it 4 in the year 2012. With mini, that's 5 sets all together. I know FB should have retired now but it is still clinging, TLG must have realized some of us AFOLs have deep pockets. This set is not a necessity of my collection, I'm going to wait.
