Gear is here to stay...

Thank you all for your comments and feedback about whether to delete 'Gear' from the database. There were some good arguments for and against but the case for it remaining was stronger so I've decided to keep it.

That's not to say that everything with a LEGO logo on it automatically goes in, though. I don't plan to add all the 'tat' (of the type you can see here) but I will be adding items of interest to AFOLs.

Today I've added the Moleskine notebooks that are coming out soon. These are high quality items that are bound to be of interest to many. You can order them from Amazon for delivery in May:

Great choice, Huw. I couldn't be happier. However, my My Sets page still isn't working right. Do you plan to keep the # on the page not counting Gear?

Awesome! I'm happy to hear you are keeping the gear in the database!

All that really matters is that the mods (like Huw) of Brickset are okay with it... They're the ones who'll be adding items to the data base... not me.

@T&T, I'll probably add a separate gear count.

Nice these are. Funny thing is that I already keep track of all my lego in a Star Wars moleskin notepad.

Damn, I just got a 'Star Wars' one for Christmas. Never mind, I'm sure George Lucas needs the money more... ;-)

I agree with this decision but I can assure you, the alarm clocks (I have the Stormtrooper one) are not 'tat', they are actually very nicely moulded and of good quality. I concur that they should not be in the database though.

meh, "bound to be interesting" and they're bound notebooks... please tell me i'm not the only one that caught that!

Ebay and Amazon banners are back...

Definitely not complaining though. ;)

Let's not start the 'damn' argument again! The word is in common use here in the UK and given the poster, and I, are I the UK its use here is tolerated.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 02 Feb 2012 18:08

Which meaning of the word here http://www.thefreedictionary.com/damn causes such offence?

In the UK, the common usage is

interj.
Used to express anger, irritation, contempt, or disappointment.

^ Just for the record, both also see common use in Australian vernancular. Y'know, like every other expletive ever. Comparatively, in the Australian context they're as mild as one gets languageways.

Good and clear choice

Gear should stay - it's something adult collectors are interested in.

But should Duplo be here? Does anyone - at all - have any interest in it here?
