The Marvel sets have been officially unveiled today at Marvel.com where they've posted pictures of four of the expected five sets. There's still no sign of the Spider-man set and details have been omitted from some of the photos (like who Capn. America is 'avenging' on his cycle).

Still, there's a lot to see and take in, so head on over to take a look then let us know if they meet your expectations.

    (Thanks to everyone who emailed)

They look pretty cool, but ironman's head looks too big and captain america's head also looks a bit odd, as he has no hairpiece

Um, when you say Superman set, don't you mean Wolverine set?

Posted by tantw in United States, 12 Feb 2012 10:23

Iron man's head looks really wrong.

Posted by TheCahleySlash in United Kingdom, 12 Feb 2012 10:24

Some of these are protoypes like if you look at Captain America's cycle, you can see he has a sticker on his torso.

Posted by jarolo145 in United States, 12 Feb 2012 10:25

what about the Wolverine and Spider Man sets?
besides that, the sets look pretty awesome, though.

Posted by deathwatch in Hong Kong, 12 Feb 2012 10:26

SUCCESS!!!!! but why is there no deadpool? and why is the helicarrier so....... incompleted? i was expecting an actual model of the helicarrier, but this.... an unidentifiable object and a mini-version of a quinjet?

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 12 Feb 2012 10:32

^^^^^ No, I meant, 6873 "Spider-man's Doc Oc Ambush" (I've corrected the text), but you're right, the Wolverine set is missing, too. I guess that's because he's not in the Avengers?

Posted by grelb32 in United States, 12 Feb 2012 10:40

Sadly, I'm not overly impressed with these. They look kind of like the old Agents sets, rather than totally awesome Superhero sets. And also, only having Loki as a bad guy? So we've got Hulk, Hawkeye, and Thor in a lab, with no one to fight? Lame.

IMO, I think they should have added some villains who are unique to the movies, as well as adding (lame-o) Loki as a bad guy. Why not put in evil Hulk with the regular Hulk, or add Red Skull against Captain America? Even if they're not in the Avengers, why not at least add them for more playability?

I understand that these are only preliminary images, and I really hope that they'll add a better selection of villains to fight against these characters.

May I also state that the sets look really unimaginative? It looks like Lego threw together some blue pieces and gave us a bunch of vehicles that (as I stated earlier) look like they came straight from an Agents set? How about playsets, as opposed to stuff that we already own from every possible earlier theme with some cool minifigs added?

Okay. There was my rant. I normally like these types of themes, but this time around, I think I might have to pass....

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 12 Feb 2012 10:43

^ I think the villains are being held back, presumably because they are spoilers for the movie.

Posted by deskp in Norway, 12 Feb 2012 11:08

there are indeed minifigures they are not showing yet cause of spoilers, the captain america has one mystery soldier and general.

the quinjet also has more minifigures!

Really odd in some action fig forums, some a clinging that the lego sets have some spoilers. So far all I see is what we already know from the sneak peaks at the end of the recent marvel movies.

Although I will be buying all these sets I am a little dissapointed by the images of these sets and minifigs. I like the comic book version of the characters as they are more iconic... Hawkeye could really use his mask. The other characters are not bad. I was hoping Capt Americas bike was more classic, but red is pretty cool.

No Samuel L. Jackson figure? Come one Lego give us Nick Fury!!!

Posted by 18000pieces in United States, 12 Feb 2012 11:52

Well, the one good thing I can say about these sets is that they'll save me some money. I was thinking of allocating >$100 for these, but unless there's some major changes between now and production time I'll probably only pick up one or two sets. More money to go towards LOTR, I guess!

Posted by ngclarkiv in United States, 12 Feb 2012 12:13

Captain America's motorcycle is lame. They should have given us a WWII one...

Posted by Rockman Xtreme in United States, 12 Feb 2012 12:27

Captain Americas set is DEFINITELY going to be remodeled, with supervillans and stuff, cause its $12 bucks, and do YOU want to spend 12 bucks on nearly 7 pieces, and cruddy printing!? Thought sooo..
EDIT: 17 pieces, actually. counted the bricks on the motorcycle.

That Iron Man figure has to be one of the worst "famous character" minifigures ever. I get that they want to make it a helmet you can remove, but they should've just included two heads instead; one smaller, solid Iron Man helmet head and one Tony Stark head.

Posted by iElkie in Belgium, 12 Feb 2012 13:05

I think they have changed the Iron Man minifig, look at the exclusive minifigs that were given out... no more odd helmet!

Odd, these don't look at all finished but they're being released sooner than anything else.

Posted by LukeSkywalker in Ireland, 12 Feb 2012 13:27

I can't understand why Marvel would decide to "unveil" the Avengers sets, but show mostly the same preliminary figures that were unveiled last year. That faceless Hulk makes me cringe, [shudders]... If they're going to unveil anything, they should wait closer to the movie (and set) release date, and do a proper official unveiling. It does nothing but leave fans feeling underwhelmed (that's how I feel at least).

Posted by gsy971 in United States, 12 Feb 2012 14:04

i don't know what all the grumbling is about. hell these are lego...kids toys. stop looking at this from the collector stand-point and see the overall big picture lego has to satisfy. the minifigs aren't supposed to look like marvel legends all scaled to proportion and all. they are meant to look a little deformed. I think the license is bad-ass and the minifigs are what they are. lego is known to improve their lines as they go along so i am sure we will get so called better sets down the road, but for me i am stoked at what we got now.

Posted by sharpleaf in Brazil, 12 Feb 2012 14:22

Well, I am probably gonna buy Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape, but only for the bricks, because Loki's headress and staff look pretty nice. There is also Hawkeye's bow and hair, that I've never seen in that colour, and , well, ther's Iron man. I just hope his head is only a prototype and is smaller in the actual sets because it's so big!

Posted by Rocka 3.0 in United States, 12 Feb 2012 14:55

I pretty sure the minifigs are protos.

Posted by swlego@hf in United States, 12 Feb 2012 15:11

The quinjet looks pretty good, but i'm a bit dissapointed in the ironman/loki/hawkeye shield truck set (can't remember name). I'm still hoping for a $100 Shield Helicarrier set...

Posted by Graysmith in Sweden, 12 Feb 2012 16:04

I hope the photo iElkie posted is the real Iron Man.. But how odd that they'd display that hideous version but then give away the final version for free.. Couldn't they have opened one bag and put the real, finished Iron Man in the display?

Anyway, Iron Man looks much much better now.

Posted by spearjr in United States, 12 Feb 2012 19:00

I'm really hoping that they go with the promo IronMan and not the terrible ass helmet IronMan. As others mentioned these sets are disappointing.

Posted by Zordboy in Australia, 12 Feb 2012 22:34

Iron Man's helmet does look odd ... but I don't even care. I'll be grabbing as many of these as as I can. I don't think they're *too* disappointing (not compared to some of the other franchise sets Lego has produced. It took about four years before the HP sets were worth getting). And yeah, I think they're brilliant. I can't wait.

Posted by grelb32 in United States, 13 Feb 2012 15:19

Okay, now I take it back. Regardless of my initial dislike of the sets, I'm actually really liking Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout. According to photos from fbtb's flickr, they also said that that set is coming out for $50, which is WAY too good to pass up.

Also, I saw an X-Men set that included some really iconic characters and a helicopter for $20.

To be honest, probably the only one of these sets that I won't be buying is the Cosmic Cube Escape, due to the fact that if I buy everything else, I would just be doubling those three minifigs...

Posted by withinfourwalls in United States, 13 Feb 2012 20:10

^ Agreed, will not be buying the Cosmic Cube Escape, due to that same reason, unless they decide to make one of the minifigs a variant at the last minute.
