    8827: LEGO Minifigures Series 6 {Random bag}
    Collectable Minifigures/Series 6, 2012
    More details...

Valid Sunday 2/12 through Saturday 2/18, you can buy two Series 6 Minifigures at Toys R Us for $5. This is roughly 17% off MSRP. So long as TRU continues to sell them at the inflated $3.49 price, this is probably the best we're ever going to see from our big box retailers. Should you choose to wait for another BOGO 50% Off, you'll end up paying $5.24 for every two.  Thus I suspect I will be completing my S6 collection this week.

Does this mean that all TRUs will have S6?

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 12 Feb 2012 14:10

It depends..
Some TRUs hide the figures, don't get them in at all, someone rips open all the packs to find the figures they want, they impost a limit of 5 packs per person, someone buys the only whole box that the store gets, or they inflate the prices to $4 per pack to offset the BOGO loss...
TRU is ridiculous.
All I can say is if you have a LEGO store near you buy them from there, at least you can get VIP points to use at the LEGO store where they do not artificially inflate prices to offset the 'rewards' you get from them.
If you do not have a LEGO store near you then Id say look for them at Target or Walmart...

Does three hours away across international borders count as near me? I usually get my minifigs from Walmart, but the BOGO would save me money.

Posted by JohnnyB in United Kingdom, 12 Feb 2012 15:02

Three hour drive? Lookin at a tank of gas unless you're in a hybrid or using a train.... Seems extreme. Better to just order a box or something online if possible or a set off amazon. Save yourself the stress.

I bought 46 packs at my TRU this morning--no problem. I'll return what I don't want.

Posted by NeilJam in United States, 12 Feb 2012 15:38

Picked up some S6 minifigs at TRU today. It looks like I got a BOGO discount in addition to the 2 for $5 sale (1st minifig was $2.50, 2nd was $1.74).

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 12 Feb 2012 16:29

@Madforlegos - I can appreciate your frustration with TRU but your arguments are silly here. In Store, you can get two for $5 which is a good deal. All stores reserve the right to limit your quantities but I imagine most won't.

@NeilJam - I don't see how that is possible with TRU's systems but I digress.

Posted by rainstorm26 in United States, 12 Feb 2012 16:52

I say buy most what you can via the feel method at TRU and the few that you can't get, go to your local Lego store on a quiet evening during the week (I know this isn't possible for a lot of people) and ask the sales folks to help you find the remainder. (At least that is my plan, I missed the Gennie and the Roman soldier today).

And no they weren't BOGO.

Posted by EarthlingJJ in United States, 12 Feb 2012 17:04

I was pleasantly surprised that my TRU had them. The salesgirl was really nice about letting me feel through them but I'm still short a couple. Also the store had boxes full of S5. Just way too many, maybe three or four boxes worth, but only a few S6 (maybe someone bought those I dunno). one caveat which isn't too bad I guess, but there was a disclaimer stating you must buy two to get the sale price, but of course it works on multiples of two, so like I said not too bad.

Posted by GeluNumber1 in United States, 12 Feb 2012 17:47

I took advantage of it.. and I now have 12 S6.

Posted by KillDeer in Canada, 12 Feb 2012 17:59

$3.49 is inflated? Thats what I see at Wal-Mart and Target.

Posted by lisqr in United States, 12 Feb 2012 18:00

I went thru 3 boxes at TRU today, didn't find a single Legionnaire. :(

Posted by TBOC in United States, 12 Feb 2012 18:06

Eh, I just started on Series 6... maybe I'll buy two and that Podracer polybag...

Posted by Captain Blockbeard in United States, 12 Feb 2012 18:48

Went today. My TRU already sold out of their only box they had late last week. I may try a different TRU later this week, or give up on the sale. I already got all but 4 figures from Walmart.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 12 Feb 2012 19:51

@killdeer - In the U.S., you can find S6 at Target and Walmart for $3 same as the LEGO Stores.

Posted by Crow5444 in United States, 12 Feb 2012 20:15

I got half of them in one shot at TRU but Walmart S5 not S6 I have not checked if the target store in my area has them in yet.

Posted by Rolyat24 in United States, 12 Feb 2012 20:44

My Target has them, but I haven't picked any up... yet

^Mark44 has the Right Idea. Buy a bunch take them home and gently feel yourself out a set, and return the rest.

Posted by Jonn Milenko in United States, 12 Feb 2012 21:23

i found half a box S6 at target 2 weeks ago, walmart has 5-6 boxes of S5 at each of my stores...Wv..usa

Posted by malachirobertson in United States, 12 Feb 2012 21:26

Is this special advertised somewhere? In case, I need to inform a cashier.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 12 Feb 2012 22:08

^ Automatically calculated at the registers.

Used the Price Checkers at our local TRU to make sure the 2 for $5 was in effect (Thanks, yellowcastle, for the heads up!). Way too many Flamenco Dancers and no Roman Soldiers so someone must have already gone through the slim picking we found (less than a full box) but were able to get 5 more we didn't have before. Will try Target soon.

Posted by bluelion3 in United States, 13 Feb 2012 07:57

If you buy online, you can only use the discount once. If you buy four, the third and fourth are the regular price, not 2 for $5. Very disappointing. Usually by the time I get to the store, the Romans have all been cherry-picked. I figured that ordering online was more likely to have a fair distribution, but I won't be ordering these from TRU now.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 13 Feb 2012 18:35

^ Until recently, Toys R Us has always limited promotions online to one per transaction. I do believe they recently extended the BOGO's to 3 usages per transaction, but that might have been an anomaly.

Posted by pitfall69 in United States, 13 Feb 2012 23:22

I bought a sealed case from Ebay last week for 169.99 with free shipping. That's 2.83 a minifigure.

Posted by pitfall69 in United States, 13 Feb 2012 23:26

When Series 1 came out thet were 1.99 a minifigure. When Series 2 came out they were 2.99 a minfigure. Now TRU is selling them for 3.49.

Posted by twheet1600 in United States, 14 Feb 2012 10:12

I took the toys r us sale paper to Wal-Mart and price matched them. Wal-Mart had a much larger selection that TRU.

Posted by gardenom in United States, 14 Feb 2012 11:38

i just picked up four roman soldiers from target (2.99). Toys R Us is not convenient for me, over priced (so they can constantly have a sale). But they often have a slightly bigger selection than Target or Walmart and still have a few bionicle sets or older hero factory.

Posted by legoDad42 in United States, 15 Feb 2012 02:30

I usually gripe at my local TRU (which is a lot more than normal retail, more than TRU's own website and rivals Manhattan's TRU flagship store)...but I did pick up 12 figs today and it was a good savings. The figs here are normally $3.99...so for $2.50 each, I couldn't pass it up.
Out of 12 I got 2 Statue of Liberty, Skater Girl, Minotaur, Alien, 2 Bandits, Sleepy head, Surgeon, Flamenco Dancer, Leprachaun and a Butcher.
Even got a Geonosian Cannon for $15.49...$4.50 savings....so all in all TRU came through today for me.

But I understand what some people are saying....they really jack the price (Batcave in my TRU is $104.00)..and it makes me mad...BUT, they still sell them. They are all sold out. Unbelievable. Some people just don't know or want to shop around. At my store, seems they take advantage of mothers, grandmothers and the like that are just there for birthday gifts, xmas gifts and the Baby's R Us section. So yeah, as much as I gripe, they are making the dough. I just wish the store had a 'posher' look for the prices. Looks like a dump at times.

I alerted 2 mothers last week looking to get some Lego there. They were concerned with the price for a birthday present and I said...hey, if you have the time, go down about 10 blocks and there's the Lego Store in the mall and get everything you see on the shelf here for at least 20% to 30% cheaper. Sure enough they went out and to the Lego Store. My compassionate consumer good deed of the day.

Posted by broomhandle in United States, 15 Feb 2012 10:21

the TRU by me did not have this deal. just got 1 yesterday thinking it, and it was 3.49. o well... they are so over priced for legos made in china. they should be like 1.49 or 1.99 USD.

o well..... i will still probably buy them... :)

Posted by nonameheroes in United States, 16 Feb 2012 05:29

I know most Targets have them now for 2.99...with no limit. I got my full collection the other day here in North Idaho. No one had even touched the display so I was able to rummage my way through it no problem.

Posted by NeilJam in United States, 17 Feb 2012 23:10

@broomhandle - Your TRU may have been doing this sale, you just didn't get the lower price because you only bought 1. You had to buy 2 (or multiples of 2) to get the sale price.

@legoDad42 Knew as soon as I read your post we must be neighbors, then saw your flickr, I live a couple blocks behind QCM, if you ever see a Fat Paramedic in the Lego Store say hi :-) The Metropolitan Ave TRU has a couple S6 and several S5 Boxes out. I only found 1 S6 pack at the Junction Blvd one but a couple boxes of S5 there. I didnt know abt the S6 2 for $5 deal til i came home that night but i did find a Droid Assassin Battlepack and got the SW Advent Calendar and Geonosian Cannon for only $15. I wish the Lego Store in the mall would carry the Minifigure Collections with some regularity. Nothing special at Target or K-Mart but i was only looking for SW and Minifigs, so ppl with other interests are stuck checking for themselves. -bill
