There's a reason it's so cheap - it looks awful ! It amazes me how poor the fan-designed sets are - the market street set is excellent, but the rest are just embarrassing. £13.99 is a good price for almost 1000 pieces, but I can't see anyone ever actually building the set......

The further reduction means that not even at 50% they managed to sell them all, i.e. the sets are really unattractive.

It's true, the models are horrible. But at 25% the price, they become very convenient as bulk pieces.

75% off? wow Lego would certainly be reconsidering adding any further "non-core" fan-made Factory releases in the future... since they have quite an abundance to choose from, how about an online poll for all fans to choose which fan-made Factory set should be next... at least that would give Lego a good impression of potential sales as well as a forum as to why they wouldn't buy the others...

i would buy the galactic enforcer if it were this cheap, but not this set. its unimaginitive, has suckish playbility, and uses minifig sticker! overall, it stinks.

Who, ME, BionicleBOOM, thomsedavi??? I would like to declare the fact that I am a full time BIONICLE fan, except that I sometimes play with my City stuff, making big layouts and such. But when it comes to the Space Skulls, why, they've never even entered into my consideration for buying!

As a fan of space, the set is great. It manages to incorporate the theme (skulls, duh) into some fun and very detailed ships. Considering the limits of the factory format, the designer/s of the models in the set did an incredible job.

If parts are what you're after, there's a lot of white slopes, flat and curved, black click-arm segments, and trans red 1x2 plates. A lot of small plates. This set has very few large pieces. That's part of the reason I imagine the original cost of the set is so high. All of those red eyes and noses on the ships are stacks of plates where an official design would have used bricks or wall panels, neither of which was probably available in the factory format.

I want it. I was going to buy it when it was $50! It is a steal for almost 1000 pieces for only $24 canadian!!! Although it doesn't look that great, it has some good pieces.

Very interesting, but I'm not going to buy it. I want to get a PS3 instead! Besides, I don't really like stuff fan made. They're too complicated and I can't go back to non-fan made things again. They're too awesome!

The irony is that you only need to spend 5 minutes on the web to realise that there are literally 1000s of fantastic MOCs out there, and yet Lego sells terrible factory sets like the Airport and the Space Skulls. And we're not alone in thinking the sets are rubbish - if you look on the "Sales and Deals" section of the UK S@H site almost all the factory sets seem to be heavily discounted, so clearly the Lego group have misread the market on this one. It reminds me of an art competition where the organisers give first prize to a pretty miserable entry just because it was painted by a 5 year old.... Come on Lego, more sets like Market Street from your users, please - there is some incredible talent out there. In fact, any half-decent user-created sets would be an improvement on the cringeworthy efforts currently on offer.....

I'm not surprised that set's so cheap. It's rubbish, and that space station that came out in the same range wasn't much better. Howcome grown-up Town fans get things like the Grocery and Market Square, and grown-up Space fans are fobbed off with this kind of tat?

What I meant is that there have been large, complex-designed sets for lego towns, such as Market Square, Grocery and those 3-in-1 Houses, so why not do some Space sets on a similar basis? A space station with the size and detail of things like the Grocery and Market Square would be great.

There is a simple reason we hadn't had *any* Space sets for a long time - Star Wars.

The Star Justice/Space Skulls sets were an experiment. Space Police (2009) is an experiment too - if it takes a lot of sales away from the Star Wars sets then LEGO will drop SP3 without a thought. Star Wars is too valuable to them.

As for larger sets, I'm sure they will come in time, if the SP3 'experiment' is a success.

I think there may also have been a clause in the LucasArts licensing agreement that prevented LEGO from making a competing 'fantasy' space theme when it was first signed. Presumably that has ended now.

A lot of you guys don't seem to realize that the Space Skulls and Star Justice sets WERE made by fans. Namely, the people who brought us Pre-Classic Space and 3vil, two of the most well known fan-made space factions. TLC contracted the creators of those fan themes to make these kits for a test run - Lego didn't just come up with them on their own. These scathing comments you guys are typing are insulting to the people who created these kits for TLC, especially since most of you don't even own either one. How can you be judging them like that?

Lego Space disappeared because George Lucas didn't want anyone buying Lego Space instead of Lego Star Wars. The days of originality are all but over. Now it's all just "the film plugs the merchandise, the merchandise plugs the film".

I built it, and to tell the truth, It was trash. Well, The main ship is fun, mostly because I set it up on my modular street (of 2 market street (the only good factory set) green grocer, and cafe corner) and put a bunch of fire everywhere and wrecked part of the building. Other than that, It only has modorately good pieces.

Made by fans or not, the set is pretty bad overall. As Lego fans we shouldn't give false praise to a set just because it's made by one of us--we should be objective and true regardless of who designed the set. Whoever brought this up is using poor logic in my opinion.

By the way, I have this set and constructed it so I'm not merely speculating that it's a bad set. I know first hand that it is..

Bottom line: At $20 it's a steal (for the pieces). At $100 it's highway robbery.
