Happy Birthday forum, indeed! I love it, have met and traded with so many great people because of this. It is a wonderful community, I'm so glad I found it. Thanks for setting it up Huw and thanks to all the gorgeous mods and admins for keeping us in line (mostly! ;-)

Just one thing to add - there's a UK "pick n mix" version of the jambalaya too; I'm right at the end though, aaagh!

Cue the re-opening of the discussion on whether to let under-16-year-olds through... :/ :P

Wow, time flies - congrats on the success! For me it's been the difference between visiting Brickset every few days, and several times a day. The place is a fountain of knowledge and really down-to-earth, nice folk.

So glad you added a forum, and thanks to you Huw for letting it happen, and all the mods, admins etc for all your hard work over the last year, it's been well worth it :) ... At the start of the year I'd notched up about 1000 posts, no idea what it's on now as the number's disappeared in the latest update!

Also, for the list above, don't forget all the deals which 'broke' on the forum first :o)

The "Predictions on Discontinuing Sets and their Secondary Market Value" actually displays the flaw of a forum: 3100 posts, plenty of them useless ("Amazon now has 650 of set X" "Now they have 362" ad nauseam), and quite frankly the vast majority will never be read again, and predictions are lost is a sea of words.

Jeff Atwood realized this "bug" of forums, and thus developed StackOverflow.com , which resulted in the StackExchange network. Perhaps there should be a LEGO-StackExchange?

Happy Birthday! Just hit 647 so you're doing well Si! Thanks to everyone behind the scenes for adding this great part to brickset, and for all those on the forum for consuming my time and money :P

Happy Birthday forum... now I just have to wait for my birthday so I can join :P

Over time ive been active on a number of forums and after a while you realise that its almost entirely hot air. Brickset is almost unique for me in that participation has given me really tangiable benefits. From the police station for £18, fire temples, pizza trucks and ewok attacks or the cmf trading, being part of the brickset forum has made a real impression on my wallet (in a good way) as well as both mine and my boys' happiness. Shame about the wife although she is very pleased with the star wars cookie cutters I traded from the states!

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to the Brickset Forums, happy birthday to you. *cheers*

Great addition to Brickset for me, happy birthday forum!

Thanks to all mods, admins and participants, the forum has certainly helped ease my 3 hrs per day communiting to and from work!

Thank you for all your kind words and stories -- keep them coming!

Happy Birthday forum! So pleased to have found it soon after it was born. Who knows how my lego life would be with out it? I suspect I'd have half the lego and spent about the same amount. So yay for the bargains. And a bigger YAY for all the great friends I've met on there (and in real life, which is certainly one of it's advantages - a genuinely connected community!) I think the 'whats your lego status today?" thread is my favourite one.

its a great forum. I regard it as the best free entertainment I have!

Congratulations! A year already... that means I'm on the forum about half a years worth of spare time :s

Happy Birthday and thanks so much to Huw, yellowcastle, bluemoose, rocao, atkinsar, DrDaveWatford, Martin and Matthew for all the hard work you continue to do.

Just a quick error I found in your post Huw:
"you're missing out on one of the friendliest and interesting LEGO forums on the 'net. I hope to see you in there!"

Should read:
"you're missing out on THE friendliest and most interesting LEGO forum on the 'net. I hope to see you in there!"

My favorite was the post from Jamie Berard on the Cafe Corner. I read that out loud to my sons (6 and 9) and they learned a little bit about LEGO operations. I almost immediately started Bricklink-ing Cafe Corner even though I had previously considered it "okay" that I didn't have it. Should be finishing that up soon. Kudos to Brickset (and Jamie Berard)!

Based on this "birthday" posting I read the Jamie Berard posting and while it saddens me, it makes a lot of sense now why I will never see a set that I missed (came out in my dark ages). While I am presently "okay" I don't have it, someday when money is less of a concern, I may have to track one down! Thanks for posting this notice including some forum highlights!

I like the fourm even though I can't post stuff. I enjoy just reading everyones brilliant ideas. Can't wait till I'm sixteen. I'm twelve right now.

The Forum turned out much better than I thought it would be. Using forums in my past, my experience with them was really never a good one. I must recognize the mods for all their hard work because with out them I probably wouldn't rely on the forum.

I'm not one for the "personal" stuff since I don't really consider I have any online friends (of whom I've met in real life), but I have grown acustom to checking for pre-sale articles. In short, the forum is actually great for user comments.

Happy birthday Brickset Forum! I totally agree with the friendliest-ness! It is my favorite LEGO forum to visit! Also, I really like the Forum interface. At least to me it feels cleaner and easier to use than traditional forums. May you have lotsa more birthdays! :)

The resources provided by Brickset and Bricklink are immense and the people who make them possible deserve oodles and oodles of gratitude. The sites are rather like Legos themselves: a micro scale utopia.

Happy birthday, dear forum, and thanks for everything that you've done for me and many others the last year! Huw, you and the rest of the staff have done a wonderful job with it. Here's to another 100 years or so :)

Posted by TooMuchLEGO in United States, 05 Apr 2012 15:22

I remember being sent an email to test the forums. It was so awesome, then it told me I needed to be 16. DANG IT :)

"A Petition to reissue Cafe Corner started, which prompted input from Jamie Berard, who explained why it was a bad idea and that it could never happen"

I don't recall him saying "it could never happen"...

"You're missing out on one of the friendliest and interesting LEGO forums on the 'net."
*Sigh* Of course you have to be 16 to enter... Oh well, the law's the law.
Also congrats on the anniversary! Two more years to go before I am deemed 'mature' :P I have gone to the forum and have received several useful tips on how to store my bricks, thanks all! :)
