6869 Quinjet Aerial Battle - - the minifigs

  • 6869 Quinjet Aerial Battle - - the minifigs

Posted by Huw, 08 Apr 2012 06:30. Filed under Set review.

6869 Quinjet Aerial Battle6869 Quinjet Aerial Battle is the largest of the Marvel sets and comes with five minifigs: Loki, who's the same as in 6867, an alien foot soldier, the same as the one in 6865, Thor, and two unique to this set: Iron Man with a different torso to that in 6867-1, and Black Widow.

Thor is certainly very colourful, what with his blonde hair, red cape and dark blue clothes.

6869 Quinjet Aerial BattleBlack Widow pilots the Quinjet, apparently, and she appears to be kitted out in a flying jumpsuit.

6869 Quinjet Aerial BattleThis Iron Man has different torso and leg printing to the one in 6867, which you can see below (or here)

6869 Quinjet Aerial BattleIn addition to the 5 figs, the set consists of the Quinjet and this contraption which looks like some sort of flying chariot with Loki on the back.

Update: I was going to post some pictures of the Quinjet but 18000pieces has done such a good job in his pictorial review at Eurobricks that I won't bother, I'll direct you to his review instead.

Thors not unique to this set, he comes in the Hulk Helicarrier breakout set as well

For quite a large set I would like a couple more exclusive Minifigures than just two (Doomtrool is correct, Thor is not unique). It would have been good to see Nick Fury in this set.

Iron Man's face printing looks a little untidy close-up - hope they're not all like that....

Posted by Reekardoo in Portugal, 08 Apr 2012 08:21

THOR needs a movie like helmet! And yeah, ironman's eyes seem poorly printed/painted...

Here my Eurobricks review of the set - though admittedly with not-as-nice photography...

I'm not sure whether it's just the photography, but the colour of Thor's hair doesn't look quite right, both from the perspective of being a LEGO piece colour and regarding the colour of his film portrayal. Hm.

Black Widow's outfit is her usual black leather outfit, whether she is piloting, spying or whatever. Thor doesn't always have a helmet in Thor Ages of Tbunder, but like many classic Marvel Heroes they have many different looks. I wonder how many additional Iron Man suits will be produced (ie Batman).

Just finished building this last night. I was a lot of fun and a great set. Not too big to "swoosh" (use two hands) but plenty large enough for good play value. My 9 year old son is enjoying it greatly.

Does Thor have the same hair as Dastan in POP (but just blond)?
Either way, they all look great.

I would love to have some of these Super Heroes sets. But they're quite darn expensive! *sigh*...

Side comment: The Black Widow minifig looks a bit like the Narcissa Malfoy one from the Forbidden Forest HP set. =D

This looks like it has the new suit for Iron Man the Tony Stark makes during the avengers, the suit before being the one in 6867. Thor looks good, but I think getting the set with Hulk in is a better deal.

To bad this set doesn't come with all the avengers. Because this is the only set I will be buying from the superhereos theme. So many legos this year so little money.

All the heroes look good. Now we just need a Fallout theme and Id be happy.

Is anyone else a fan of Iron Man with the blue studs and cylinders attached? I think they look great.

cool. happy easter!

You spelled Quinjet wrong in the last paragraph (sorry for being a grammar-nazi).

Posted by legoDad42 in United States, 08 Apr 2012 16:52

@CapnRex101...yeah, I love the trans-aquablue studs and cylindars to add to his repulsor effect.
As a big Thor fan...I feel a brick built Mjolnir would've been better than this molded one. Plus...dangit...why doesn't he have his great helmet? Makes no sense. I'll need to substitute with a silver Dwarf one.
Black Widow looks good.
Hopefully we'll have a comic book version, color scheme for Thor down the road...with the proper winged helmet.
Maybe lego's having trouble showing the long hair beneath the helm. Might have to do it like they did with the POTC line's Jacks hair and hat combination mold.

^or like the Valkyrie in the latest series of Minifigures. ;) I really want this set, just can't justify the price at the moment - it costs the same as the Batcave! (even though I think the Batcave is priced really well for a Batman set.)

That's 18000pieces Huw... Great review, well done (and good photography, no need to put yourself down over that)!

^^ Whoops, thanks I was a factor of 10 out :)

Black Widow's hair need to be more red.

A LEGO Scarlett Johansson minifigure...I think my life is complete :P

Posted by legoDad42 in United States, 08 Apr 2012 21:29

@ LukeSkywalker....naw...the Valkyrie has horns on her helm. Thor has a winged helmet.

Posted by jarolo145 in United States, 09 Apr 2012 15:44

just bought it this morning. great set.

Posted by Apfly in United States, 10 Apr 2012 14:28

Could you possibly tell us what the actual box size is for this set? It'd be great to know. (Though I'm not sure why...) :)

I'm thinking of picking this one up on clearance some time. There are some other things I would rather spend my money on.

Posted by jarolo145 in United States, 10 Apr 2012 17:55

^the measurements are 18 3/4" x 14 3/4"

Huw, are those transparent bricks under Loki's ship included?
