    4202: Mining Truck

Brickset member Vidiator has found the first unwatermarked images of the City Mining sets, that are due out in the summer. It looks like there's a lot of playability in them and I think they will be popular. Little (and big :-) - LCG)  boys love diggers and trucks!

Connect the big mine set up with the Mines of Moria (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=9473-1) and you've got yourself a great crossover disaster movie!

I found on Flickr some pictures made by somebody at a toy fair with all these (City/mining) sets - I don't know if it is ok to post the link here?

My son has been asking me daily (almost) about Power Miners sets since a year ago when he first started in Lego. Of course PM was already discontinued way before then. I'm sure he will be very excited about the new City Mining sets!

We Just gotta get the Gold...cause were out of money and were gonna be in real trouble. these sets remind me of the show Gold rush Alaska. has anyone relized they just made construction Vehicles in a mining setting.

These are definitely mostly just for the kids, but I do like the look of the new minifigures and their hardhats.

@adn2377 yes it's OK.

Out of the 3 shown... I'll get The Mine, but other 2 probably a pass.

My son will love to play with these... missed out on some of the earlier construction sets.

These look quite nice, worth a second look when they are released certainly.

The big dump truck looks good, it seems that the dumper is made out of many bricks. I don't have it but the previous one seems like it was just one huge part: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7344-1 This new one definitely looks like an upgrade over that.

The mine set looks pretty interesting. I hope none of the sets have Chinese parts (or Mexican, either, but I doubt that will happen).

Posted by itsaturkey in United States, 12 Apr 2012 21:45

^ Lower quality pieces are only made in China, Mexico has been making the regular plastic type for years now. And only some (Well most I guess) of the pieces made in China are lower quality. Usually that's because of new molds that would cost Lego too much elsewhere and too much printing on the sides of the legs.

I am ecstatic for the new series. I'm so relieved that Lego is taking City in a none Cops and Robbers direction. I was also a big of the Power Miners, so I will be looking forward to these.

So I found many pictures on somebody's Flickr account, from a toy-fair, pictures with all (?) the future sets from this sub-theme:

Those look like 12V rails? Could we feasibly extend the mine train? I intend to custom build the mine anyhow.

Posted by adn2377 in Romania, 13 Apr 2012 07:31

I think they are exactly 12V rails :)

Do I sense a pun in the title?... :)

Posted by vamproe in United States, 13 Apr 2012 15:45

I'll be getting just the mine unit set.

not sure where my lego major will let them mine for gold......rumor has it the park rangers have been chasing people away from an "abandoned" mine in the park.

Posted by Frederick B. in Norway, 14 Apr 2012 10:23

Looks promising,especialy the mine.

Posted by daniel c. in United States, 14 Apr 2012 15:50

The mine always looked awesome to me, but the other two sets look a lot better in these pictures. 4202 Mining Truck is essentially 7344 Dump Truck done right, and the excavator in 4203 looks quite nice as well. City 2012 is miles better than City 2011, which may go down as the worst year in the history of the theme.
