Another chrome minifig

Hot on the heels of the chromed Darth Vader, fbtb.net brings news of a chrome stormtrooper! Apparently it can be bought at LEGOLand California, where I believe they are having Star Wars themed days this coming weekend. There's more photos at Eurobricks. Let's hope he becomes available everywhere!

Update 16th June: This will be available in LEGO stores and from LEGOshop.com in the next few weeks, according to brothers-brick.

    (Thanks Nathaniel)

WOW... I live in the UK though! Looks great... let's hope it'll end up like the Chrome Darth Vader, where it started from the US, then came to Europe! Great pics on Eurobricks though... the penultimate photo is funny...

Posted by WedgeAntilles in United States, 09 Jun 2009 22:49

Posted by mvila09 in United States, 10 Jun 2009 17:49

Whoa! Didn't see that coming! I wish I lived in California...

Posted by Obi-wan Legobi in United States, 10 Jun 2009 17:49

Now chrome Darth Vader has a chrome bodyguard.

Posted by iabstract in United States, 10 Jun 2009 21:04

D'oh. Forgot LegoLand meant the theme park and not the retail store. Grr.

Posted by Greyface in United States, 10 Jun 2009 21:06

There still is a LEGO Store in LEGOland. I don't know how big your European LEGO Stores are, but its pretty big. What's phenomenal is that I actually have someone ten minutes away from LEGOland that could pick one up for me!!!

Posted by mvila09 in United States, 10 Jun 2009 22:17

You know what? I think I wanna spend my summer vacation at Legoland.

Posted by BioFreak877 in United States, 11 Jun 2009 10:53

I'm about 6,000 miles away from where I could get on of those babies, pity. Ah well, life moves on. I do agree with a lot of people about it being a magnet though.

Posted by Zwing in United Kingdom, 11 Jun 2009 14:17

Maybe they will come to the UK soon.

Posted by commander_cody in Finland, 11 Jun 2009 16:37

I wont be able to get one of these ... =/ But , I've missed a lot of great sets and minifigs , SINCE THERE'S NO OFFICIAL LEGO STORES IN FINLAND . But ofcourse there's many toy stores here that sell much lego .

It is a magnet, but you can detach the storm trooper easily. I live about an hour away from Legoland California and I will most likely (95%) go there this weekend. My question is: Will these be given out for free during the Star Wars weekend to each attendee or do you need to buy them at the theme-park run store? If it is the latter, can you only pick up one? Regardless, I will be there.

Posted by upore in United States, 11 Jun 2009 20:09

it's cool, but i'd like to be able to stick it to a baseplate.

Awesome, if I can pass by cali in the summer while i'm at san fran, i will definetly do this

Posted by LindsayJoy in United States, 12 Jun 2009 00:42

You guys just need a lady here to comment and think straight.

You can CALL the LEGO store at LEGOLAND just like ANY LEGO Shop and have them ship the mingfigs (well magnets that come off their base) to you.

I did just that today. They we $12.99. Limit 2 per person while supplies last. Plus shipping which was about 6 US$.

Call early and hope you get lucky cause they are already overwhelmed with requests!

Posted by c.lee.r in United States, 12 Jun 2009 02:42

will be going sunday and again maybe monday also. hope it is not true that only 2 per guest while at legoland.
hope everyone else gets one also.

Posted by jonbuddy in United States, 12 Jun 2009 10:12

@zero0,Legoland California is in the US, but if you mean the rest of the US, I hope it comes out here too. I might just get it!

@FiletOFish67, You are SO lucky you live near Legoland!

@commander_cody, Tough break about the lack of Lego Stores. Maybe one day Lego Stores will be in every reasonable place in the WORLD! :)

Posted by commander_cody in Finland, 12 Jun 2009 11:22

yup , sure hope so . =) But I usually get what I need from here , if not I order . (Only if I want it real bad) =)

Ps. Is the Rogue Shadow is worth getting ?

Pss. Is it true that they're gonna stop making Star Wars legos ?

Posted by Zwing in United Kingdom, 12 Jun 2009 11:54

@Commander_Cody - In my opinion, I think the rogue shadow is worth getting. I wrote a review on it a day ago.
I hope it isn't but I think it is true that they are going to stop making lego star wars. But do not worry because lego star wars was going to stop in 2007 but they didn't. I also want this chrome stormtrooper badly.

Posted by commander_cody in Finland, 12 Jun 2009 12:21

ok , I'll probably get it , and I hope they're not gonna stop making them .

Posted by space police fan in United States, 12 Jun 2009 15:48

Has anyone noticed that the two new sets of space police are on the eurobricks main page.

Posted by GameOn99 in United States, 12 Jun 2009 22:58

has anyone else noticed that the names of most of the new sets (even non realesed ones) are on the download instructions page on lego.com. The actual instructions are not there (keeps saying page not found) but this most likley means that they are coming soon.

Posted by Zwing in United Kingdom, 13 Jun 2009 05:26

Hope they make more chrome figures like this one

Posted by Rock Raider in Finland, 13 Jun 2009 07:11

OKAY!? ^_^
IS THAT A MAGNET SET?

Posted by FiletOFish67 in United States, 13 Jun 2009 19:43

Rock Raider, it is a magnet set but the minifigure is completely detachable. It is a real minifigure.

I just came back from Legoland, California. I got a hold of 6 of the chromies :).

Posted by c.lee.r in United States, 13 Jun 2009 21:54

got off the phone with legoland and they said athey are almost sold out. it is star wars weekend. she said that they may get more in next month, but no Guarantee they will be getting anymore. got 1000 and that was it. also a little tid-bit she also told me legoland CA usually has the new sets before the stores. i have 6 little stormtroopers on hold for me. comes to little over 14 us dollars a minifigure.

Posted by Rock Raider in Finland, 14 Jun 2009 02:26

Thanks FiletOFish67.
I'm going to buy it.
Hope that is cheap in Finland, if that comes to Finland...

Posted by brents in United States, 14 Jun 2009 05:19

thanks lindsayjoy -- that was a great idea.

i spoke with legoland around noon (pst) and was informed they were sold out but were expecting more. the person i spoke with said they were expecting another 4000 sometime in the near future -- the end of next week at the earliest. they were also taking down reservations for the next shipment -- max of 2 per household. let's hope this person knew what they were talking about.

Posted by Zwing in United Kingdom, 14 Jun 2009 06:09

If it comes to the UK, it should be around £8

Posted by c.lee.r in United States, 15 Jun 2009 04:11

picked up six and a bunch of posters and star wars weekend brick

Posted by Zwing in United Kingdom, 15 Jun 2009 13:55

This is one cool minifig

Posted by WedgeAntilles in United States, 16 Jun 2009 17:54

hmm if they really wanted to they should make a chrome stormtrooper magnet set (like the 4 other ones availible right now) but just with new figs every time. I'd like to see a Rebel pilot with a chrome helmet.

Posted by Zwing in United Kingdom, 17 Jun 2009 11:15

61 people on eurobricks who voted thought is was outstanding :)

Posted by Emerald Night in United States, 17 Jun 2009 19:20

Im getting two of these when they come to the lego website and stores. It is one of the most valuable minifigures. The chrome vader is very hard to get so I am getting this stormtrooper in replace of vader.

Posted by baylego in United States, 17 Jun 2009 22:50

Im ECSTATIC! I won a Darth Vader building contest, where you build as many darth minifigs as you can in one minute. I was up against 11 other people, and the prize was a chrome vader! and it was free! Did anyone else go to the event and win a chrome vader?

EDIT- It was at the Lego Store in case you were wondering.

Posted by Greyface in United States, 18 Jun 2009 12:05

@baylego - Oh, sweet! I'd kill for a chance like that. Did you have to supply your own Vader minifigs???

Posted by baylego in United States, 18 Jun 2009 12:15

@Greyface- The lego store had hundreds of the vader from this years TIE Advanced

Posted by Zwing in United Kingdom, 18 Jun 2009 13:30

Maybe a chrome jango fett will be released

Posted by GameOn99 in United States, 20 Jun 2009 20:59

I won the darth veder contest at my local lego store to. I was up against about 9 people. I hope they have a chrome stormtrooper building contest someday.

Posted by Danson Delta-40 in United States, 22 Jun 2009 09:28

Anybody know if the king of prussia has them? going tomorrow

Posted by Zwing in United Kingdom, 22 Jun 2009 12:17

When I was looking around eurobricks, I found a picture of the republic gunship (the one coming out this year) and a picture of the force unleashed magnet set (it has battle damaged vader, a snowtrooper and shadowtrooper). however it is a rumour and it might not be true.
ps: I love this chrome stormtrooper :)

Posted by Popo in United States, 23 Jun 2009 14:50

A REPUBLIC GUNSHIP!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
